My three favorite series are 007, call of duty and guitar hero, hopefully they pull through and make a great game
Activision promises new installments in hit franchises during its next fiscal year; new Marvel and Tony Hawk titles planned, as well.
Do you like shooting Nazis and popping ollies but aren't excited about Call of Duty 3 or Tony Hawk's Project 8? No problem. In the not-so-shocking news department, both franchises will be getting updates after their currently scheduled installments, according to Bobby Kotick, chairman and CEO of Activision.
Speaking with Wall Street analysts following today's earnings report, the executive revealed--to the surprise of virtually nobody--that his company would release new titles in its two flagship franchises during Activision's 2008 fiscal year, which begins on April 1, 2007.
"We'll start the first quarter of fiscal with three strong movie-supported franchises, Spider-Man 3, Shrek 3, and Transformers," Kotick said. "Also anchoring our slate in fiscal 2008 will be strong new titles from a number of our core franchises: Tony Hawk, Call of Duty, and Marvel." Besides Spider-Man, Kotick did not say which comic book the new Marvel game would be based on, but Activision recently revealed that it no longer has the game rights to Iron Man, which is being adapted into a 2008 film.
Kotick also revealed that Activision's 2008 fiscal year will see new installments in two other popular series. Besides a new tie-in to the megapopular World Series of Poker tour, the 12 months will mark the debut of an "all-new Guitar Hero" game, the third entry in Red Octane's virtual-headbanger series. No platforms were mentioned in connection with either franchise, the latter of which is currently a PlayStation 2 exclusive.
Last but not least, Kotick unveiled the release window for Activision's first James Bond game. In May, the publisher announced it had picked up the Agent 007 license after its former holder, Electronic Arts, gave up its rights to make games featuring the superspy.
But while the next Bond film, Casino Royale, is due this November, the first Activision game to involve Her Majesty's Secret Service won't hit store shelves for another year and a half. "MGM has announced the release date for the next Bond movie following this holiday for May of 2008," said Kotick. "That is where we would focus to have our first [Bond] game."
More Call of Duty,Guitar Hero, and James Bond, just what I wantes. Now there's one thing left to do. Change the released dates to 2007!
I hope the new Call of Duty game is gonna be better the third game.. it's great but has some flaws..
UGH thank god Guitar Hero 2 basically sucked. im glad i didnt buy it. i beat it faster then i beat the first one. im hopimg the third one is better then the 2nd one.
Guitar Hero no dies already. YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I must prepare the fret buttons and my fingers. ROCK ON!
um greenday 1093, i dont know if your aware of this but um............call of duty is set in WW 2 era........and um.......if you rename WW2 movies to call of duty.......it would be the same..............
NOO!!!! I wanted Rare to make Goldeneye 360! Give the bond liscense to RARE NOW!!! God. (Rare was going to announce a new game at TGS/X06.) Now it will be something ghay.
The only bond games I have ever liked have been goldeneye and nightfire. Ihope this new one is like them.
"lol the nintendo wii is pretty much like a xbox 1 (hardware)" Its not the hardware that makes the game. Its not the graphic, it isnt the backing, it isnt the following, it doesnt matter if its popular. A game is fun when the gameplay is good and everything ties in neatly together.
I think that Call of Duty should be some how be made into a war movie. Guitar Hero 3 should be for the Xbox 360. Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, and 007 Casino Royal are all gonna be awesome movies. I will probably see every one in theaters. I will also definitely get the new 007 game coming a year and a half after the movie.
Microsoft will likely still have to use "obscene amounts of money" but Red Octane has stated quite clearly in an interview that "we know where we need to be, the micro-transactions on the 360 would allow us to continue adding songs long after the initial release".
Well, I'm sure we can rely on Microsoft to use it's obscene amounts of money to get Guitar Hero 3...
oh, okay... sorry, I was confused.. I retract my former statement... and, actually, a guitar hero for the x360 would be pretty awesome...
the tony hawk games need to stop!!! enough already with the sequels...give the franchise some needed time off
im not gonna make some judgments until the games come out......... then i will piss all over them ( if there bad ) which i hope they wont be
Well apart from Everything or Nothing, EA murdered James Bond games, so i doubt Treyarch can do any worse. CoD3 is the sequal to Big Red One so i am not expecting much, i think i will wait for Infinity Ward's next offering.
the last good 007 was nightfire all the rest are JOKES!! the only way 007 will be good is if they make a golden eye like 64. same format but better graphics!! guitar hero will alwas be good
007 yea right...last good bond was nightfire and it was just good, tony hawk never a big fan, spider man ok not horrible. not the best /most impressive news.
neonblueshadow: it is like this treycarc or what thers name is are doing console CoD games Infintiy wards are doing the pc games of CoD. So a boycott does not solve your problem. The only thing you can do is to wait for infinty ward to announce a new CoD game for pc :D
I really hope they bring Guitar Hero to the 360. I think it would be cool, but they'll probably keep it on the PS2 or put it on the PS3. If it does go to just the PS3 that is one more reason to get one along with Assassins Creed, MGS, DMC, and a 3rd God of War possibility.
hmm Treyarch developing Call of Duty 3,didn't Treyarch develop the Tony Hawk pro skater series?,oh well,as long as they can match Infinity Ward I'll definately be getting COD3
...but Activision recently revealed that it no longer has the game rights to Iron Man, which is being adapted into a 2008 film. that is extremely gay, though it would have probably been like superman 64 anyway
CoD 3 :/....................i'll take Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, that game is gonna rule all team-play FPS's on PC, take that Battlefield 2142
Don't poo poo harmonix just because their activision. From what I have seen the world needs another guitar hero, the first one was great and heres hoping the second will be more of the same.
yay for bad movie to game tie ins.,,,, wasting the american gaming dollar since well before our time.
And so, "Guitar Hero" becomes yet another whore which Activision shall shamelessly pimp out, year after year. How sad. Some are excited, but I am not, considering the extraordinarily large amount of Godawful titles Activision has been releasing lately. Since we're already on GameSpot, just go to their developer page and look at all the reviews it links to. The scores are less than astounding. Plus, when you look at what they did to the programmers behind the original "Call of Duty" and what a mess that turned out to be, I'm simply waiting for something similar to happen to Harmonix and Red Octane.
Oh yes!!! thats great news!! please bring on more sequels of the same $#!%. I love playing the same thing over again with a brand new feature!!
