New Bungie game code-named Tiger, logo confirmed

Halo will always be strong, but it really looks like Battlefield 3 is going to be the next big thing.

What I really want to know is what happens next. Will Halo stay as strong as it was or will it fade down from its AAA status? And will this next thing Bungie's doing be as big of a success as Halo was?

@Frame_Dragger Hey, how's the weather up there on that massive high horse of yours? And I actually think its somewhere between what Snaptrap and caboose84 are saying. IIRC there actually WAS a 5 game contract that was fulfilled by Halos 1-3 and ODST/Reach (I believe they themselves say as much in their latest VidDoc.) But at the same time they were acquired by Microsoft (So in a way its less of a 'contract' then an 'assignment') so MS got the rights to Halo, and were the ones that passed it off to 343. Not that Bungie didn't have any say in that, many of the 343 people are ex-Bungie, and if Bungie didn't approve of 343's existence they wouldn't have collaborated on it.

@caboose84 Bungie was OWNED by Microsoft so they didn't need a contract, and nothing in the Bungie acquisition agreement was mentioned about making a certain number of Halo games because what would happen if the game was a failure? Microsoft would've ended up spending millions to buyout a developer just to make an unsuccessful series. Microsoft (not Bungie) handed Halo to 343 because they own 343 and the rights to Halo. When you don't own the rights to something you have no say in the matter of where they go.

@caboose84 ODST is an add-on, thats why its called Halo 3 ODST, not Halo ODST, it was just priced at $60, by Microsoft, And Bungie had to leave halo behind because they wanted to be independent, but they couldn't do that without leaving Halo behind.

Kind of reminds me of Borderlands, but whatever it turns out to be it wont disappoint because its Bungie.

@snaptrap Well apperantly Bungie was the one who wanted to stop making Halo games. If I recall, Bungie had a contract with Microsoft for 5 Halo game. After Halo 3, they got tired of making them and just wanted to work on something else but they couldn't. Assuming that's true, that's why they pushed ODST out as a full game instead of a Halo 3 Add On like planned so they only had to make Reach after that. That being said, I'm sure they're perfectly fine with Microsoft keeping the right. They even chose 343 to take over and promised Halo was in good hands. So while the first part of your post is correct, that wasn't exactly how them leaving went.

@mrzero1982pt2 They didn't sell the rights to Halo because Microsoft already owned them after acquiring Bungie. In order to publish something you need to own the rights to it and that's what Microsoft retained when they separated. The deal was probably Bungie saying "Yeah, we'd like to separate" and Microsoft responds with "Go ahead but we're keeping Halo". That's the %@ part of creating something for a publisher because they keep what you give them. I'm glad though, at least Bungie will be able to move on to other things for other platforms without the approval from Microsoft.

you know if its by activision then it will be a classic. even today me and me lad still enjoy split screen on halo reach multiplayer, the gameplay is excellent and the new gear you unlock and moving up in rank keeps you hooked. love you activision, hope you produce the next duke nukem game because the last one was shocking.

What an ambiguous way to tease your fans Bungie! :) Blizzard Activision is making Titan: MMO FPS; guess to raise the odds of success, Bungie is also making a MMO FPS.

@XanderZane I have a 250gb and the halo reach music always goes away, you just have to navigate back to the main title sreen and the music comes back. i dont think it has anything to do with the how much gb's are on the harddrive. all, i can say is that every once in a while my connection with live (not playing games online) is laggy, but it gets normal in no time. Also, downloading the games you mostly play on to your hard drive may help.

Bungie is one of my favourite developers if not my no.1 They put the community first always "a universe that at some point is going to become more the fans than it is ours" Like what happened to the Halo series. I look forward to more info

Taffelost, you must be six, you don't know nothin! Bungie's been around for years and made some of the best games ever for the Mac and PC and were the innovators of cross platform on-line gaming between the two.

Why is this interesting to PC gamers? Bungie is a console developer. Tech news from a console developer is the same as tech news from someone that manufactures T-Fords today. The consoles are 6 years old, that's the equivalent of a T-Ford in the computer age.

Bungie is still an independent studio and has full possession over their new IP. Activision just gets the honor of being the one to fund the project and print/distribute the disks it is printed on, making tons of money from the resulting sales.

Bungie sucks, They got lucky with Halo which was over rated and on a full hype train, They're a crap game developers and it'll show in this game, Just wait and see. ;)

Make it big Bungie, make it big... Just don't make it an MMO. :P
