Some Assassin's Creed III players are reporting in the Ubisoft forums that after downloading the game's just-launched Hidden Secrets expansion, their in-game progress has been wiped. A Ubisoft representative has responded to the issue, noting that the company is able to reproduce the problem and is working on a fix or a workaround.

"From what we can tell, this problem seems to be rare and should generally only affect a very small number of players," Ubisoft community developer Gabriel Graziani said. "That said, we're taking the speedy and complete resolution of this very seriously."

To avoid encountering the bug, Graziani said players should not load their Assassin's Creed III save game while the Hidden Secrets DLC is downloading in the background. "This appears to be the key trigger for this bug," he said. "You can do anything else you want to do, just don't load up your saved game and play it while the DLC is downloading."

The Hidden Secrets for Assassin's Creed III launched this week and introduces three new missions (Lost Mayan Ruins, Ghost of War, and Dangerous Secret) that total one hour of gameplay, Ubisoft said. Successful completion of each mission will reward players will new in-game weapons.

In addition, the Hidden Secrets content adds two single-player costumes (a Captain of the Aquila uniform and a traditional Colonial Assassin outfit), as well as a pair of new multiplayer characters: Redcoat and Sharpshooter.
