Online session to run on weekends during February and March; founder's pack buyers will get access on February 8.
Massively multiplayer online game players can soon start their adventures in the Forgotten Realms universe via the closed beta version of the upcoming role-playing game Neverwinter.
According to a news post on the Neverwinter site, developer Cryptic Studios and publisher Perfect World will be hosting Neverwinter beta weekend sessions February 8 to February 10. This will be followed by another session from March 8 to March 10 and a third one from March 22 to March 24.
Players can register here to get a chance to partake in the closed beta sessions. Those who purchased the Hero of the North founder's pack will get guaranteed access on the first session that starts on February 8.

@Tripwolf It's free to play. The ?200 is for people with money to burn and it's the exact same deal you get with any F2P game ie you can pay a huge sum up front and get bonuses and in-game money to spend, or you play the game for free, get no bonuses and if you want to buy something in-game, you pay then.

Very, Very skeptical about this one considering cryptic's record.. But Perfect World Entertainment has proved to be pretty good. I loved the NWN games, don't know if this will be any good though; Plus there's only four classes, which considering the previous games, is a joke. But anyhow, i'm going to at least give it a chance.
For your kind information folks, this game was the brain child of Trent Oster and and was developed by bioware, the later versions were by Osidian Entertainment and other little RPG developers...... and now none of the people that made this game awesome are involve. This game is only going to sell on the merit of its franchise. SO WATCH OUT guys!! chances are high that this game will suck!
@lordshifu You do realize that this isn't Neverwinter Nights, right? It's a D&D game that happens to be set in the city of Neverwinter, but it's not Neverwinter Nights and I haven't seen any indication it's trying to be. Respectfully, it seems like all you just did was say the exact same thing as I just did, but used it for justifying your belief that the game will be bad. I'm not sure I follow your logic.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the game, and I've only heard good things about what's been shown so far. I'm a big fan of D&D; I can see alot of potential with this game.
@lordshifu All they have to do is make a fantasy version of the Star Trek Online game. STO is pretty cool. Nothing amazing, but the user created content is a huge plus. There's always room for developers to muck things up, but they'd have to actively try to mess this up.
I wonder how this game would cater to someone who hasn't played a Neverwinter Nights game before.

Beta aside, having to pay 60( !!! ) bucks for acces to it and exp boosting stuff just seems wrong, games like Terra Online had such better closed beta access systems.
