NCAA Football 10 cover stars revealed
Michael Crabtree, Brian Johnson, Brian Orakpo, Mark Sanchez front respective Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP installments of EA's college gridiron sim.
In March, EA Sports confirmed that it had no intention of releasing its annualized collegiate gridiron simulation NCAA Football for the Wii in 2009. However, considering that last year's Wii edition was graced by Michigan States' mascot, the absence of NCAA Football 10 on Nintendo's console doesn't necessarily mean one less athlete will be given his day to shine on the cover of this year's box.
Today, EA Sports announced which former collegiate athletes would grace the covers of NCAA Football 10, which is due for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PSP on July 14. As was the case last year, EA Sports selected a different noted athlete for each edition of the sports sim.
Cover duties for the Xbox 360 edition of NCAA Football 10 have been awarded to former Texas Tech University wideout Michael Crabtree, who is a two-time recipient of the Biletnikoff and Paul Warfield Awards. University of Utah quarterback Brian Johnson will appear on the PS3 edition of the game, having led his team to a perfect 12-0 regular season and upsetting Alabama in the 2009 Sugar Bowl.
Brian Orakpo, defensive end for the University of Texas, has secured the cover rights for the PS2 edition of NCAA Football 10, having picked up the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Ted Hendricks Award, and the Lombardi Award during his last season with the Longhorns. Lastly, the PSP game will be covered by University of Southern California QB Mark Sanchez, who received the Most Valuable Offensive Player award during the 2009 Rose Bowl.
More information on all four of the selected cover athletes is available through the official NCAA Football 10 Web site.
