Naughty Dog details Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta
Drake's Deception developer gushes information about multiplayer trial period; starts tomorrow for select group and runs through July 14.
Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception--which co-led the E3 2011 Game Critics Awards--isn't due out until this November, but gamers eager to get their hands on the title will be able to do so tomorrow. The California developer today detailed the upcoming beta, explaining what gamers can expect from it.
As for its start date, the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta will commence tomorrow (June 28) for owners of InFamous 2 and subscribers to Sony's premium service, PlayStation Plus. The beta will later open up to the public on Independence Day, this coming Monday, July 4. The beta will shut down a little more than a week later, on July 13.
As for game types Naughty Dog plans to offer gamers throughout the beta, players can expect to try out a range of competitive and cooperative modes on three maps: Chateau, Airstrip, and Yemen. The game types are: Plunder, Team Deathmatch, Three Team Deathmatch, Co-op Adventure, Team Objective, Hunter, and Co-op Arena.
The multiplayer beta supports stereoscopic 3D, as well as split-screen multiplayer (though not at the same time). Further, the beta has a level cap of 25, and while progress and unlocked items will not carry over to the retail version of the game, players can score rewards when the game ships this November by participating in the beta.

I've been playing it, up to level 11 at the moment. So far I'm enjoying it, though all the new features were a littlebewildering at the start, but starting to get used to it all. Loving the new M9 assault rifle. :)
Ah yes it's working now. Quite well. Not spectacular, not as fun as a GTA sandbox coop, but not bad either. True it doesn't feel as good as the U2 multiplayer but still decent. Patch install seems ok.
Yeah i tried several times with and without downloading a patch or something. Signs off and turns off my PS3. They were better when they were doing Jak and Daxter.
I played this 3x and my ps3 froze 3x...I'll wait a bit till they smooth it out even further.

cant even launch the game. It restarts my ps3 everytime it tries to update to version 1.1 epic fail
They just fixed the lag and freezes needless to say, the multiplayer is nearly flawless and much better than in the second game
Too many random freezes. It's ruining the experience. i was really, really excited about this multiplayer, and this shows why call of duty games are simply the easiest choice, not always the best, however. Back to black ops for me personally.
Ah! So im not the only one that's getting the lag and serious dropped framerate, so glad. I hope they fix it fast!
After playing the BETA for a while, aside from freezes and lag, this game is legit. My one complaint is that the controls feel a little clunky. I'm really hoping the game will improve for the better when it comes out. But one game I definitely can't wait beside this is Battlefield 3. :)
pretty much all can play this now coz almost everyone got free 1 month playstation plus from sony...maybe thats why its unplayable at the mo...everyone freakin downloading it and playin.
wow just watched the video.... i see the psn cheaters are already ruining the game.. the guy took 2 hits from a snipper gun plus other shots and he was killing people with a hand gun :lol: the controls look sloppy and slugisg as ever... not even gonna rent this sucker.... ok thats a lie :P but ill not buy it for sure!!
Froze once in customization, got into a match, lag so bad I could get 3 steps every 20 seconds. Tried co-op did a little bit better, still unplayable lag and once again froze. Graphics look amazing from the few minutes of what I've seen though.
Man I got in and it's awesome the games some how manages to look even better then Uncharted 2. I've had problems with lag and random freezes but I've been able to get into matches rather quickly. If you want a smooth experience here's the best way to get it play Split-screen co-op. getting into matches is quick do to the fact if it can't find anyone else to join it will just let u and your co-op partner play and it won't lag or freeze so long as no one else joins in.
thats why its called BETA. Its not made to play the game for free its made to find bugs and test. The multiplayer beta for UC2 did the same thing where it didnt save your rank ups.
Ok i'm currently downloading it, the servers will probably be jam packed and busy but oh well, cant wait, i just know this game will probably be the best i got when i get it.
@Fogshie7277 Won't matter, even if it end tomorrow you'll still be able to play...assuming ND fixes the issues with the beta.
BROKEN SESSION MANAGER IS BROKEN, come on naughty dog, i only got playstation plus for a short time.
@Sigil-otaku Actually I've played both as well and have to disagree Gears of Wars cover system is rather glitchy I like to call it fly paper cover because most of the time you get stuck to it and can't get off it's very annoying especially in a heated situation when you need to move quickly from my experience this never happens in Uncharted 1&2
It's freezing my PS3. If you ranked up during match, tough luck, cuz you lose everything. Love the beta, but it's glitchy as hell. Lag issues, random psn kicks...disappointed. Gameplay is fun, for sure, when you do get to play that is. My PS3 froze 3 times in the last 10 minutes. Hope it gets fixed though.

yeah i got in long enough to customize my characters an stuff but couldnt get in any matches, then got kicked out! geus ill go back to playin xenogears an try again around midnight
i somehow got in but no matches are happening, bguessing massive server overload, sence everyone has playstation+ at the moment, i guess they didnt think that one out did they
the weird thing is i saw people at ign say they were able to join and play but were disconnected afterwards guess its a server overload,sony should have made preparations oh well i will wait

@Jab7604 According to Naughty Dog's Twitter page, they're aware of the session manager issues and are trying to fix them. My beta is still downloading. It's like watching paint dry! Hopefully it'll be up for me when it finishes downloading!
i think im burned out following the gears 3 beta. theres only so much complaining i can listen to. it's a friggin beta people! it's not finished!
