Now I'd be REALLY happy if they bothered to release the damn game on PAL . . . their reluctance to do so over the last several iterations is beyond me actually. When the game has been released in short supply to some PAL territories, it has sold out quickly. But it seems this version, like '07 will NOT be released on PAL - yet again. '06 was, but that's all . . . . Shame on you EA . . not everyone outside the US hates NASCAR . . .
Car racing game heading to Xbox 360s and PlayStation 3s this summer; Tony Stewart takes checkered flag on cover athlete honors.
When a publisher owns one the exclusive rights to make games based on one of the country's biggest sports, there's really no reason not to keep making the games. Such is the case with Electronic Arts' grasp on NASCAR, as the publisher today announced that the series is returning for another season.
NASCAR 08 is scheduled for a summer release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the first time the series has taken a pit stop on next-generation consoles.
EA also announced that this year's cover athlete will be Tony Stewart, winner of two of the past four Nextel Cup Series. The quick-tempered driver is known for risk-taking on and off the track--he's gotten into some high-profile and controversial wrecks and doesn't mean speaking his mind (or letting his fists do the talking) when he thinks he's been wronged.
The game will allow players to suit up as a rookie driver and progress through a racing career, unlocking cars and gaining endorsements along the way. Online play will support up to 16 players, and EA says gamers will be able to share their tuning configurations with other racers.
NASCAR 08 is rated E for Everyone and has not yet been priced.
all I want to know is that the new "dynamic replay's" cover all aspects of the players race. Fans of the NASCAR video game know what I mean when I say all aspects; total player control for replay's, 360 degree camera angles (like Madden 07/NHL 07/NBA 07, etc.), and the ability to watch the race afterward as in the Grand Turismo series. The technology is here, been here for some time, but EA has choosen to fill the game with useless additives such as one on one battle races w/nascar stars to gain what(?), a street car? I bought the NASCAR video game to race stock cars/trucks through the Craftsman/Busch/Cup seasons, not to race against Kurt Busch on a street course in New York. Myself and thousands of others have been beating down the NASCAR forums and writing EA to tune up this once, epic series. Come on boy's, you have the technology, you have the abilities, do you have the game? The Bloodboys Review
Thats for sure,,, it wont be a forza2 or GT5. But really all they need to do is. Well is if they went back a few year to "im not sure which one even?" But one was not bad a few years back. But its just always looked ugh. A tad bit of grain "as some of us call it?" Even on the Xbox HD. Which was the top last Gen. And so I would think they would get this thing at the least sharp detailed, and smooth FR on the PS3 'which should be no problem at all. And im sure they could really do some pile ups, and Moto Storm type of wrecks.. Which was kinda a weird problem with E nascar physics. Is you never had the big one. But this was do to the assistance. But with a controller you need that assistance. Dirt to Daytona somehow made a great Assistance. That felt good when you had control. But when it broke loose on you it was gone. That never happens in any of EAs nascar games, with assistance on. You wont see a car slide all the way threw the Dayton Infield on it. Im not sure how Dirt to Daytona did that. The assistance steering worked great while driving. The car stuck well. But on the rare occasion you did slide out some. Or got bumped. It was gone. Its like EA assistant slows the car to fast, even during its spins?? I dont know that just one of the probs?
I like watching Nascar and the game is finally coming out for next gen so it should look nice. Am surprised at the first two screen shots, they don't look next gen.
Actually it has been the fans of late that have turned NASCAR into a soap opera. All I hear about every week is fans complaining about every little thing under the sun. And the best ones must be professional conspiracy theorists because there is a new one every week. I am tired of hearing people complain about NASCAR, Nextel, its officals and it's drivers. The bottom line is that they can't please everybody and lord knows everybody thinks that their opinion should be taken as the final word. Either you like the sport or you don't.
Its about time!!! I have been dying for Nascar to come out on 360. I love the online play. Its so much fun going head to head with friends for 100 laps.
EA has ruined NASCAR racing in the virtual world. Once they became the exclusive maker of NASCAR video games, they continued to release crap NASCAR games that are an insult to the sport because they had no competition. All of EA's NASCAR games except one have been arcade style racing games and are not at all close to what real NASCAR racing is like. The only game they released that was close to being any good was NASCAR SimRacing in 2005. On release, EA said that they would support the game and make sure that it was the greatest NASCAR game ever. The game was broken right out of the box. The caution flags, black flags, penalties, scoring, and many other features did not work correctly. They only released one official patch for that game, and one beta patch. Neither of these patches did much of anything to fix all the obvious flaws in the game. Even worse, they completely pulled the multiplayer aspect out of it late last year by pulling the multiplayer servers. I will not invest hard earned money into another half-hearted attempt at making a NASCAR arcade racer. The console games are a complete waste of time as they do not even come close to the realism of what NASCAR is. Papyrus was able to make a realistic game and they were a very small developer. The fact that EA can't or won't boggles my mind and makes me sick to my stomach. I hope EA chokes on its' money.
excellant...you can add this game to Forza, NFS carbon, etc for some great racing action on the 360...
NASCAR 08 on the PlayStation3 and X-Box 360 is looking sweet man, I swear with each new console that comes out the racing games keep looking better and better. Can't wait to see games like Gran Turismo, Need for Speed and all other racing franchises will look on this new generation but graphics isn't everything the gameplay has to be good to. I can say this is that I'm obsessed with racing games, I can't go to the arcade or to a store trying to see what kind of racing games to try and all.
You know, I'm a huge fan of Nascar, but I was seriously disappointed by last year's game...how the hell do you omit some of the top drivers from the series in last year's version? Did Carl Edwards miss the driver's meeting and was thus eliminated from the game? Also, I was seriously disappointed with the lack of unlockable paint schemes from last year's game.. When you had some awesome paint schemes (like the DEI tribute schemes), and not even bother to use them in-game...that's just sloppy
I miss Papyrus' racing sim. That always seems like the heyday of racing simulation games for NASCAR and others. And if you had a Rendition or a 3Dfx card, you were in for a real treat. Of course, I'm sure that featurewise, these newer versions will blow that old game away. But the memories remain...
NASCAR games have always failed to impress, and I wouldn't be surprised if its the same in this case.
Damn it why did they have to put that cry baby on the cover. They could have put a better driver. The game hopefully will be better then all the other one and it better look hella good cause they have had 2 years to make it. Actually, the "crybaby", IMO, is Jeff Gordon... I just hope they have Jarrett and Waltrip in Toyotas..at least make it THAT up to date...
I just hope they do better with the online gaming experience than they have the last couple of years.
The two images from the game weren't bad, but they could definitely do more with the game by adding more images in the crowd and in the pits. Hopefully this will be really incredible and equal the graphics from Sony's F1 game
The screens look great, but I just do not like the look COT, it just looks non-nascarish. Hopefully EA won't fudge this up and it will play well.
Nextel has ruined nascar and made it more of a soap opera than anything. Anyone who follows it knows what I'm talking about." Actually I place the blame squarely on Brian France and Mike Helton for ruining the series. But your right in one sense, they helped turn it into one big mello-drama....they try to make the least likely detail seem so epic when it really isn't. Not too mention how they favor one particualr team *cough* Hendrick *cough cough*
i havent been a fan of ea nascar games since nascar thunder 2003...but I hope this one turns out well
o agree with RLJSlick, if you've heard, AT&T wants to sue Nextel due to sponsorship on the #31 car, and Sunoco wants to sue Shell cuz Shell is sponsoring the #29 car... I really hope the COT is in there.. it's a sick piece of machinery there lol im lookin' forward to it 100%
add to the fact that around corners of the track at 180 mph their inertia causes their bodies to be experienceing 5 to 7 times the force of gravity causing a man of 200 pounds to weight 1,000 pounds of more for extended periods on turns.
Cardiac_cat People sit in saunas for 3 hours... big deal They aren't atheletes and it isn't a sport.
lol ya theres no timeouts or half times in NASCAR, no time for them to rest or hit the bathroom... its 4 hours at 110+ in a Suit and helmet sitting in a very confined space. while constantly braking hitting the gas swerving to mis a wreck, shifting, and not to mention they are doing this on 75 % of the tracks over 165 mph.. and at Michigan and Atlanta they are going into the corners at just about 205 MPH.... so lets see.. your in a seat, which is very small and confined... no bathroom breaks.. 110+ degrees, your arms and legs never stop moving. oh and its for over 4 hours... hmm... so a few hours of baseball standing there or sitting on the bench 90% of the time is a lot harder right???? PS: I really hope they include the "Car of tommorow" in it... that would be nice..
I would rather play an Formula 1 racing game. Too bad they don't make a North American region version of F1 for Xbox 360.
Dude, do you realize how hot it is in those cars for 3+ nonstop hours. That takes conditioning! And mind you driving those cars isnt like driving your ford focus around the block either.
Hahaha, Nascar with a cover 'athlete'. That's funny. It'd be true if the drivers were doing the work and not the cars.. you must know nothing about the physical stress a driver goes through from temps that reach 110 in car to driving 500 miles and fighting a car with no power steering. hold your piss for three hours. that alone makes you an athete.
IT'S ABOUT TIME!! I thought it was stupid when they did not release it last year and have not made it backward compatible.
i am from mooresville north carolina where basketball and nascar are king, every makor race shop is with in about 15 miles of each other.i'll be picking this title up for a little bump drafting action! sorry to say that this title is about the only racing game i like, boogity boogity lets go racing boys!
I support the game, but it's not something I would actually play. I'm just not a NASCAR fan... or any other type of racing either. Although the wrecks are fun to watch and I am sure it will make for some interesting videos from users:)
Hmmm 16 ppl on-line. i have heard this before...'05/'06. I am a big NASCAR fan, and will of course get this game...I also love F1 (my brother works(ed) on F. Alanso's car (when it was a renault). Too bad SCEA owns the F1A rights.
Damn it why did they have to put that cry baby on the cover. They could have put a better driver. The game hopefully will be better then all the other one and it better look hella good cause they have had 2 years to make it.
happysox "Tony Stewart, winner of two of the past four Nextel Cup Series" It is actually 2 of the past 5, not 4. He won in 2005 and 2002. You are right.
