Namco, Hori tag-team for Tekken 5 bundle
Package celebrates fighting franchise's 10th anniversary; includes new Tekken title, arcade-style controller, and DVD case for the Tekken library.
Publisher Namco Hometek and peripheral developer Hori are teaming up once again. Namco today announced a limited edition Tekken 5 premium bundle in celebration of the PlayStation 2-exclusive title's release and 10th anniversary of the popular fisticuffs franchise.
The bundle, which will retail for $99.99, includes the upcoming Tekken 5 game, a customized controller designed specifically for use with the Tekken games, and a six-disc case to hold each game in the Tekken franchise. Though specific details on the peripheral weren't disclosed, a release from Namco states: "The Tekken 5 limited edition peripheral offers highly accurate controls replicating the arcade game play experience currently found on the coin-op version of Tekken 5."
The bundle will be limited to 20,000 units, and it will be released on March 15, which is Tekken 5's release date. As a special promotional offer, bundles preordered from Electronics Boutique, GameStop, and Game Crazy will ship with a collector's edition book featuring artwork that covers the franchise's 10-year existence.
Namco and Hori were previously wingmen on a bundle for Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, which included a limited edition flight stick for the air-combat simulator.
Tekken 5 will sell individually for $49.99. No rating information is available yet. For more details on Tekken 5, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
