Namco Bandai launching Generations label

Japanese publisher reinvigorating classic arcade catalog with XBLA, PSN revamps; Pac-Man CE DX to be followed by Galaga Legions DX, Aero-Cross.

Namco Bandai reinvigorated the Pac-Man franchise in 2007 with the release of Pac-Man Championship Edition. The reimagined Pac-Man gameplay has largely lain dormant for three years, but Namco Bandai will revive it tomorrow on Xbox Live and next Tuesday on the PlayStation Network with Pac-Man Championship Edition DX. As it would turn out, that release will herald the arrival of a new line of titles revisiting the publisher's classics.

Today, Namco Bandai announced Namco Generations, a new game label focused on bringing the publisher's arcade catalog to Microsoft's and Sony's digital distribution platforms. The goal of the label, according to Namco Bandai, is to "reinvent favorite Namco franchises with high-definition graphics, enhanced gameplay features, and regularly updated community news."

The aforementioned Pac-Man Championship Edition DX will be the first game to fall under the Namco Generations label. Other developments within the label include Galaga Legions DX, a sequel to 2008's Xbox Live Arcade effort, as well as Aero-Cross, an update to Namco's 1985 arcade title Metro-Cross.

Namco Bandai expects to continue to stock the Namco Generations throughout 2011.

Classics are good and all, but I am still waiting to pop in a tales game on my ps3.

@ thisranks they wont do that because they are stupid. atlus AND Xseed have asked them and they declined. Again namco is acting like children that have created something and dont know what to do with it. its for damn shame to cause the tales seris is rather good its to bad that its owned by the second dumbest company out there (besides activision who is smart in a dumb/stubborn way)

I have to agree with the folks that want Tales. I already have about 4 different versions of all these games. I don't have a PS3 Tales game. If Namco doesn't have the cahones to bring ToV/ToG:F over, pass them to Atlus to localize.

one thing thats good about xbox 360 is i come across games i never heard of but i will never buy a 360 cause im ps3 fanboy

@exedeath a tales of vesperia on the ps3 would suck big time. this new pac-man game looks cool....i might go and get microsoft points sometime and buy it

go reinvigorate tales of destiny and destiny2/eternia on PSN and maybe well your reinvigorating stuff go reinvigorate your freaking fans faith and give us destiny DC and some damn Japanese tales games. oh wait its namco never mind i could wait for the sun to go nova before anything logical comes out of that company

How many times can you put out the same games? We don't need anymore rehashed versions of your classics. Like Hollow said release some Tales games.
