Mya sings and acts in new, now-delayed Bond title

By Thomas Layton

R&B star lends her talents to upcoming 007 title from Electronic Arts, though gamers will now have to wait until next year to play the anticipated title.

EA announced today that recording artist and Grammy winner Mya will perform an original theme song, "Everything or Nothing," for EA's upcoming multiplatform James Bond 007 title of the same name.

This news follows on the heels of EA's earlier announcement of the game's delay. The title is now scheduled for a release sometime after the holiday season. It is, however, due to retailers before the end of EA's fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2004.

Today's news stated that Mya will also play the part of Mya Starling, an in-game "Bond girl." There will be three in-game versions of Mya's recording.

Composer Sean Callery, nominated for an Emmy for his work on Fox's TV series 24and known for the La Femme Nikita TV series, will provide the cinematic score for Everything or Nothing.

Previously announced voice actors working on the game include the current Bond star Pierce Brosnan, John Cleese as the new "Q," and Dame Judi Dench as "M." Heidi Klum (as Katya Nadanova), Shannon Elizabeth (as Serena St. Germaine), Willem Dafoe (as Bond's nemesis, Nikolai Diavolo), and Richard Kiel ("Jaws" from Moonraker) will also lend their voices and likenesses to the game. The game's story was written by Bruce Feirstein, who has previously written scripts for GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and The World Is Not Enough.

According to Reuters, Steve Schnur, EA's worldwide executive of music and audio, said, "From the original score, to the Bond theme song, creating the music for this game was approached the same as for a Bond film or any other Hollywood movie."
