How long is it free? When to when? I kinda want a Vita, as it's the only gaming device I don't own yet but have been waiting since IDK if there's any games yet that could tear me away from my 3DS yet. Honestly, a free Motorstorm & I'd run & buy one tomorrow!
Gamers will be able to download handheld version of Sony's latest racer free of charge for a limited time thanks to a Scion sponsorship deal.
PlayStation Vita owners who broke the bank just getting their hands on the new portable can still afford to pick up MotorStorm RC, as Sony today announced the racing game will be free for a limited time.
Thanks to a sponsorship promotion from car manufacturer Scion, MotorStorm RC will be downloadable free of charge when it goes up on the PS Vita's online storefront tomorrow. The PlayStation 3 version of the game (also due tomorrow) will still cost $10.
The PS Vita version will be the complete MotorStorm RC, with 16 tracks in four settings. It will also have a variety of customizable RC vehicles including buggies, rally cars, big rigs, and monster trucks, as well as a Scion iQ exclusive to the portable.
Developed by series creator Evolution Studios, MotorStorm RC is a spin-off for the franchise, with the standard assortment of real-world vehicles replaced by remote-control counterparts. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of MotorStorm RC.
Damn you lucky Yanks. I was just playing the demo and loving it - very Micro Machines-ish, from back in the day. May just buy it anyway, it's only four quid.
@leroyj333 oh haha i know, just saying, someone was asking for "any indication of a time"...so i figured late afternoon on the east coast would be informative for them
@Spacerac I'm assuming, if you know someone who owns a Vita, that you could sign into your account on theirs and download it. That is also assuming that they will let people who have already got it once redownload it later after the promotion ends.
This is not only an amazingly customer-friendly move for Sony (thank you) but these are exactly the type of bite-sized games the Vita will need to survive against other mobile options. If the Vita can "out-app" the mobile phones and tablets while still providing a gaming experience on par with a home console, it has a good chance to really break out.
And yet some people still hate on sony. you never read the free with xbox 360. Dc Online, online play, freerealms Sure Sony may charge for somethings but when you think about how much xbox live has cost microsoft customers gramd total since they open, You have to admit Sony is a lot kinder to your wallet in the long run.
Yes I did check it out. What you wrote was yesterday on the blog I meant today it was supposed to be out bud.

I bet it won't til next week there site is always having problems. I have been checking all day too guys!
Well, as Gamespot left the main info out, it's a disappointment. It is a US PSN account only. Sure we can factory reset our EU vitas to get this, but if you've already bought games for your EU account, you are left out. Since the game is only a few bucks, I will most likely end up buying it. Hopefully the EU will get a few game once in a while.
NAMCO TAKE NOTE!!!! Look! a vehicle racing game that not only has 16 tracks and more than 5 freaking cars to choose, but it's FREE on it's release! You guys should really examine that mess you call Ridge Racer Vita and provide more content than DLC that still has less to offer than this game.
I'm guessing this offer only applies to the US PSN, but at 6 euros, the game is still a bargain. Just picked the PS3/Vita bundle off PSN here in Germany and the game is absolutely awesome. Saves don't sync particularly smoothly, so it's not as simple as "pick up where you left off" on the Vita, but the Vita version certainly compares well to the PS3 one.
If this is the game that came out in Europe a week or two ago, I seem to remember it got pretty positive reviews. Can't wait to download it for free. Thanks Sony!
wow well im not much of a raceing game fan.....but free is free so downloading it anyway might acually like it alot who knows i wish when you got a game for the vita you would get the ps3 version for free(from the psn ofcourse)but i can understand how that would be hard to moderate ect. so guess i'll never get to see that oh well still awesome
Still not buying a Vita.... but I give Sony credit for trying new things. Maybe if you bundled the game with the old PsP where I can still play my UMD games? hahahahah
there's nothing better than free, maybe we will have more free games soon, glad sony is taking right steps with vita
I'll take that!!! I broke down over the weekend and traded in $275 worth of stuff I don't use or play anymore and still had to pay $$$.(16 gig card/1 game) This is one expensive system, hope it will be worth it.
This is awesome news. I will definitely pick this up now. As a result, I may also have extra cash for Unit 13.
