MotoGP 09/10 peeling out in March
Capcom aligns upcoming Xbox 360, PS3 edition of motorcycle racing sim with start of real-world championship season.
Sports game publishers are keen on delivering their simulations in tandem with the start of any given season. Such has not been the case for the MotoGP racing series, which has traditionally skewed toward an end-of-the-year release. With Capcom now the exclusive rights holder of the MotoGP license, the publisher this week said that it would be aligning its next installment in the motorcycle racing sim with the opening of the 2010 season in March.
Developed by Monumental Games, MotoGP 09/10 will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Data for the game, including bikes, riders, and tracks will be pulled from the in-progress 2009 season, and Capcom notes that gamers can update MotoGP 09/10 with data generated during the upcoming 2010 championship series free of charge.
Career mode will be a primary feature in MotoGP 09/10, with players able to manage their crew, hire staff, and compete in races in pursuit of a MotoGP championship. Capcom didn't delve into the particulars of this mode, saying only that gamers could compete with three different bike classes.
Capcom said that three other gameplay modes would included in the game, one of which will be a freeplay-style Arcade mode. The publisher also said that MotoGP 09/10 will support online modes, complete with leaderboards and a spectator mode.
This is what they said exactly in the press release: ''Historically MotoGP videogames have been released toward the end of the GP season, but with this latest addition to the series we wanted MotoGP and racing fans to have the most up to date content as soon as possible'' We are not only not getting the game "at the end of the GP season" but we are just not getting MotoGP09 at all, we will just have an outdated motogp '10, 5 months before what would be the 'normal' release date, I don't really have a problem with that but they shouldn't have said anything if they knew this game wasn't going to be released until next year. I think this will be a really good game , but every year, or every 6 months games are evolving in graphics, physics, gameplay, etc. So I hope this is not only a 2009 game 6 months late but a 2010 game comparable specially in graphics and detail to the need for speed, project gotham or whatever racing games to come in 2010. I just hope the 6 months wait is worth it, at least we know they are putting a lot of work in this game.
If you people were paying attention, the game will be supporting the riders, bikes, '10 season schedule, AND liveries. You are basically getting ALMOST 2 games in one. I imagine them not getting the new team members on board fast enough is why they have to push the release date. But, it is GREAT news that the new team has a handfull of the CLIMAX team on board. The new game is instantly better than 08's with just that news alone!
yea strange release date, lets hope it blows us off the track, get it blow....? woooo oh yea i still got it
ok... how will capcom decide what to do with the new moto2 series? With new chassis and spec engines and possibly the re-entry of Michelin... this is stupid... give us the 09 now!!! b/c your moto2 class is gonna be whacked anyways...
well cant wait...
i though was steve-o, sorry.
The release date of this game really is a stupid idea.
Wow that's a long wait, it'll be released when next season starts, so technically be out of date when it comes out, bummer. Unless they get sneak previews of the new livery's riders etc then it will be fresh for 2010. Seems an odd release date never the less Good that the updates will be free though, maybe we will get the ltd livery's like Rossi's old Laguna/Valencia and so on. Really hope they make the career/season mode more than 5 years this time though
