GAME's, GameStop's online databases indicate WBIE will release remastered versions of Midway's famed violent fighters on PS3 in time for Thanksgiving.
HD collections have become an increasingly popular trend on the PlayStation 3 after Sony bundled up the first two God of War titles for a rerelease last year. With the Sly Cooper remastering slated to arrive this fall and the Team Ico Collection due next year, it appears as if Warner Bros. Interactive will also be getting in on the HD collection action, if retailer listings from the US and UK are to be believed.
Currently, UK retailer GAME is listing the Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection for a PlayStation 3 release in November, priced at £49.99 ($78.12). Oddly, GAME is currently running a promotion on the unannounced game that drops its price to £39.99 ($62.50).
GAME's listing is bolstered by a since-pulled product page in US retailer GameStop's online database. Captured by Mortal Kombat enthusiast site TRMK before its removal, the product page for the Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection has it listed for the PS3, carrying a $39.99 price tag. According to GameStop, the game can be expected to ship on November 16.
Additional details on what the Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection contains were not revealed by either listing. WBIE had not responded to requests for comment on the product spaces as of press time.
This is starting to look like a cruel prank. It's October 30th and there are still no screenshots or trailers to be found. :(
Even through I'm a big MK player back in the day I hate to say it won't be picking this game up... Too many new titles coming out this holiday season to be picking up games I've already played a ton of times...
@gpasap yea we need killer instinct screw MK i really never liked how stiff there games were but KI had the same brutality just with a more unique cast and more fluid imo
well it sad that we want old games to come back becasue new ones are mostly crap ........ but i just hope they start doing this way more i am so happy if all mk in hd lol it makes me feel good knowing all the moves makes me that much more kool
According to the story originally published at TRMK, the game was being redone using HD, and not just upscaled. I really hope they will release this on Xbox 360 too.
This kinda sux, their gonna release the new game for both consoles, but this collection, which everyone wants,is exclusive to the ps3.But then again this isnt exactly a sure thing as far as I can tell.
@ netswisha16 Funny how some one actually thumbed you down. What netswisha16 says is 100% accurate, the full truth. If people actually did some research they would know this....but instead,a lot don't and thumb you down like they know better . Sad.
Look, it's going to be a compilation of MK 1, MK2, and UMK3 on one disc, all totally recaptured, with new actors in high-definition. It's not going to be an upscaling, and its not going to include ANY other MK games. Just those 3 only. That should clear everyrhing up for those who don't understand. Hence the words used in the title. "HD", and "Arcade".
We'll have to wait and see. Even if it is the 3D games on Playstation 2 I'd be tempted to replay them in HD. But honestly, it would be alot better for Midway/Warner Bros to release Mortal Kombat Trilogy on PSN/XBLA instead.
Oh, I forgot, I already have the Kollection running on my PS3 in HD. It's called, Midway Arcade Treasure 2. It includes Mortal Kombat 2 and 3, and a bunch of other games in the kollection. Unless this new Kollection has HD sprites, I am not gonna buy it a second time.
If it's going to be Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon then why would they call it an "Arcade" collection? None of those were in the Arcades.
Not even upset at the fact it's for PS3 only, I still own all of the MK games I liked on their original systems.
Im not even tripping on the price, i'll have it for years to come. Just have MK 1, MK2, MK Trilogy, MK Gold, MK Ultimate Alliance, MK Armageddon and Sub Zero: Mythology's.
Mortal Kombat sunk once they made Mortal Kombat 4... Mortal Kombat on NES,SNES,Genisis was a winning formula. But once they made the transition to the next generation consoles, Mortal Kombat was never the same nor was it as fun anymore...
There was nothing as good as playing MK 3 and pulling off brutalities with the sound turned way up on a powerful subwoofer. I remember having things such as 'YBLAXLXALBY' written in my notebooks. Deception was good as well. The new MK looks set to take me back to the glory days of MK though. Schweeet!
@ notserbamma Because of the nostalgia. I spent many, many hours in the arcade, friends houses, my house playing MK, MKII, MK4 (probably the worst of them all). Many a night I played MK on the Genesis because it had the blood kode and proper fatalities, opposed to the SNES version.
Hmmm. I dunno, I might pick this up for the nostalgia alone(seeing Kano getting low-balled by Johnny Cage NEVER gets old!) or I can show my nieces and nephews the game that gave birth to the Games Rating Board...Nah!! will probably pick it up once its in the bargain bin...
If this upcoming Mortal Kombat game is as good as it looks, I don't see why anyone would ever want to replay the old school MK's over again.
well I like idea of this HD kollection better then that crappy team ico one those games were horrible why would I waste money on them
Shouldn't be more than $30-40. Not sure I'd buy this. The thought of those old character models from the first 2 games in HD doesn't thrill me at all, and the gameplay in a couple of those doesn't draw me either. Would much rather wait for the reboot next year.
Eh. I loved Mortal Kombat but I already downloaded MK3 off of xbox live and that's good enough for me until the new release comes out.
I suppose this is pretty cool. I mean, one of my childhood memories was lurking in the arcade, and watching the older kids play the older games like these. I've never been good at fighter games, so I would always watch them play it. Not my cup of tea, but I can see the appeal.
Let's hope that this kollection is not just a bunch of upscale 1080p Mortal Kombat arcade games. I want HD sprites, not upscale sprites.
I'm trying to forget the Mortal Kombat's past and move forward hoping that the new Mortal Kombat game will bring back nostalgic memories without damaging them.
@ ethermay def. should include 1, 2, 3 and UMK3. everything after that was worthless imo, the strayed to far from what worked so well.
I just hope this isn't some hype just because of the new MK game. Unless I seen some gameplay footages or screenshots then I'll believe it.
If anything it will be MK's 1 - 4 As those are the only ones that came out in the Arcades. Come on people.
it seems like they will be pure arcade ports with hd graphics. which would be PHENOMENAL! It SHOULD include: 1, 2, 3, UMK3.
I'm interested to see which games make the list. Are we talking the original MK games or the newer ones. Also, that price seems a little high, I hope that drops a little bit as well.
Playing Xbox One games on somebody else's console will also require a check-in every hour. Full Story
