Artist Jim Lee designed the Injustice variant of long-time Mortal Kombat character .
DC Comics brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us will be getting new DLC in the form of Mortal Kombat poster boy Scorpion, Warner Bros has announced.
NetherRealm, who developed Injustice alongside the most recent Mortal Kombat, has employed iconic comic artist Jim Lee to create the Injustice interpretation of the character.
No firm release date was given for the DLC, but Scorpion will be released for $4.99/£3.99 on PlayStation Network and 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360. Warner Bros said earlier in the year that Injustice DLC would be released on the Wii U in the summer.
Scorpion is a resurrected ninja and has appeared in every main Mortal Kombat game since the series' inception in 1992. He has also fought against DC Comics characters before in 2008's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
Injustice: Gods Among Us was released earlier this year, and received a score of 7.0 in its GameSpot review. Scorpion follows Batgirl and Lobo as DLC characters for the game.
I will say this again, I have a pretty strong feeling that the reason they locked 4 characters on the disc was that they could develop 4 characters while they released the other 4 that were on the disc. Ed Boon always wanted to do two batches of DLC (said these back for MK .vs. DC Universe and for Mortal Kombat), but never was able to because develop for them took too long. They release 4 on disc DLC to make money and to appease the fans and then release 4 more that the fans picked later on.
This is why they have been doing Fan polls on Twitter even though we know that the 4 DLC they are going to release were already on the disc.
Meh, Plenty of DC characters to choose from and you get scorpion and subzero. Which is halfbad cause Scorpion without Subzero is meaningless but still i was hoping the meaning of Extra characters for WB being Rorschak, Ozimandias, and V
@Mizarzeug I would have liked if all the DLC were characters like Rorschak, V and Constantine. Outside the main DC universe. Adding Batgirl or Zod just makes people ask why Zatanna, Brainiac etc. didn't make the cut.
The only time Scorpion and Sub Zero cross paths is in MK Mythologies: Sub Zero. And MK1.
In each of those games they kill each other. After that, the new Sub Zero isn't a problem to Scorpion and the original Sub Zero, now Noob Saibot, doesn't care about Scorpion.
So saying "Scorpion without Sub Zero is meaningless" is actually a meaningless comment.
So you played Mk 9 and came to the conclusion, the original subzero wont retaliate against scorpion for his injust murder, and that kuai liang subzero wont search revenge against scorpion. Whos giving the meaningless comment now
Facts you remove subzero from scorpions equation and you got boring nothingnesss. You put V and Rorschach in injustice and you get a really good game
You accuse me of only playing MK9, but then you talk as if you have only played MK9. I'm talking about the series as a whole, which includes both timelines. Anyway....
Sub Zero killing Scorpion, and Scorpion getting his revenge is the only meaningful connection these two have. The new Sub Zero is not a concern at all, and is thus "meaningless" as far as Scorpion is concerned. So, if you want to add Scorpion's rival, add Noob Saibot!
But, it seems that these two don't bother with each other anymore, despite their history, serving under the same master (Quan Chi), and residing in the same realm (Netherealm). This is because they no longer have a score to settle and have their own agendas to pursue. Scorpion got his revenge and moved on. Noob Saibot pretty much doesn't care about his old life - he even disowned his own brother and any ties he may have to once being Sub Zero. This happens in BOTH timelines.
The new Sub Zero wanting to face Scorpion was a dumb retcon made for MK9. In the original timeline he joined the tournament to finish the job his older brother failed at - to assassinate Shang Tsung. He also failed this and goes on the run from his own clan to avoid being turned into a cyborg. The altered timeline obviously changed so that he gets caught, but that still shouldn't change his reasons for being at the tournament in the first place. But even then, once he becomes a cyborg, his trivial and petty need for revenge completely disappears.
Regardless, Quan Chi has WAY more of an impact on Scorpion. Without Quan Chi, Scorpion and his clan would still be alive. And so would the original Sub Zero for that matter. That means no fire-wielding Scorpion, and no Noob Saibot.
Therefore: Scorpion, Quan Chi, and Noob Saibot, are all connected. Sub Zero is insignificant!!
But..... if you want to say that we are talking about MK1 timeline (including MK9 that takes place during the same time), and that Scorpion is in pursuit of the original Sub Zero at this point - you have to consider that Scorpion is still working under Quan Chi. So Scorpion can still be doing things for his master that does NOT involve Sub Zero. Thus again proving that you don't HAVE to have Sub Zero hand-cuffed to Scorpion and have them always appear together.
If you are a Sub Zero fan, I would rather have Sub Zero, that is fine. Just come out and say that. But no respectable Scorpion or MK fan would say that Scorpion is meaningless without Sub Zero.
Yeah, gamers, go ahead and fork out 5 bucks for something that should have been in the game in the first place. Don't worry, there's plenty of DLC to rob gamers of both money and sovereignty.
I hate it as much as you do but damn.. I don't think it's gonna change. That's just the way it is nowadays with games.. it sucks but what can you do about it right
@Scorpion1813@banana23man That's one way to look at it. But I was referring to DLCs in general. The only reason why games are butchered and sold as DLCs is because there are morons who are willing to fork out 15 bucks for 4 maps.
It's the principle of the matter. And it is not an isolated one. The way DLC has been handled in general -- not just for this game, and not just at this conmpany -- is a bane on the industry.
The games industry is very important to me and I want to see it change for the better. Not only that, but I love NRS games - I just hate the way they market their games and have all this withheld content to charge extra for later. They seem to have good intentions of pleasing the fans, but they are going about it all wrong and it can feel like we have been stabbed in the back. I'm not going to put up with that.
I'm not alone in the matter either. There are plenty of other people like me that are outraged with the way NRS are handling this.
@Scorpion1813 @TohouAsura Why are you getting your panties all in a bunch about a single character in a DC fighting game. Dear god does it really disturb your sleep knowing that the game said it was a DC fighting game and now they have one crossover character. If you don't like it... don't buy it.
MK9 was released with Kratos from the beginning and was never promised to be MK-only. Not to mention there aren't no way near as many MK characters as there are DC characters.
Injustice was promised to be DC-only and there are characters that have been requested since the game was announced. More requested than the majority of the core cast of the game. NRS studios promised NOT to include MK characters, that it would be DC-only, and that they would add characters in if they were requested enough. So far all these promises have been broken.
They needed to do something else after the success of Mortal Kombat. In my opinion, it would have been difficult to top it with another entry in the series. Also, I think it would've been too soon to have another MK. I personally feel that fighting games need a 3-4 year gap between sequels, so that they can feel fresh again.
I think that's why they went back to the DC Universe. I don't know what other IPs NetherRealm Studios own, so I don't know what else they could've done. But yeah, I think they should just leave the DC Universe alone.
@Henninger Nightwing is already in the game. One Robin is enough, especially when you consider the game is about the WHOLE DC universe but already 7 Batman characters.
