Mortal Kombat character DLC hits June 21
Red-garbed ninja Skarlet to be first of four downloadable characters, sell for $5 on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Mortal Kombat fans have had months to master the game's original roster, which means it's about time for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to start expanding its options. The publisher today announced that the blood-soaked ninja Skarlet will be available to download starting June 21 for 400 Microsoft points ($5).
The Mortal Kombat roster is set to expand even further. Skarlet is just the first of the planned downloadable characters, along with the blind fighter Kenshi, the purple ninja Rain, and an as-yet-unannounced fourth fighter.
Skarlet won't be the only new Mortal Kombat DLC arriving this month. June 21 will also see the release of a new pack featuring new Sektor and Cyrax skins inspired by the robotic ninjas' appearances in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
The first Mortal Kombat game since 2008's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and the ninth in the series, the reboot is rated M for Mature for pervasive gore accentuated by gruesome fatalities. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's review of Mortal Kombat.
