some good songs, but other than Move it On Over and Money for Nothin', nothing's really jumping at me.
Activision announces 22 more tunes for latest rhythm game; artists include Five Finger Death Punch, Alice Cooper, Pantera, Sum 41, Them Crooked Vultures, and others.
Last week Activision announced that Rush's 20-minute, seven-part rock suite "2112" would grace Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, and today, the publisher followed up with 22 additional tracks that will appear in the game.
The list is varied and rooted in multiple eras of rock. Today's new tunes range from The Edgar Winter Group's 1973 classic "Free Ride," to "Hard to See" off Five Finger Death Punch's 2009 War Is the Answer album.
Songs announced July 26 are:
Alice Cooper--"No More Mr. Nice Guy"
Alter Bridge--"Ties That Bind"
Blue Oyster Cult--"Burnin' for You"
Deep Purple--"Burn" (Remastered LP version)
The Edgar Winter Group--"Free Ride"
Five Finger Death Punch--"Hard to See"
George Thorogood and the Destroyers--"Move It on Over (Live)"
Lynyrd Skynyrd--"Call Me the Breeze (Live)"
The Runaways--"Cherry Bomb"
Them Crooked Vultures--"Scumbag Blues"
The White Stripes--"Seven Nation Army"
In addition to the game's more than 90 tracks, gamers can download some 500 songs from the Guitar Hero Music Library. Of note, Warriors of Rock features an original track from Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, titled "Sudden Death" and the recently reformed Soundgarden, who will release "Black Rain" exclusively in the game.
Additionally, classic rockers Black Sabbath, Queen, Def Leppard, The Rolling Stones, and ZZ Top will have their songs featured in the game.
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is due out September 28 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's most recent impressions.
@zaveline Some of those bands "u don't kno" are the most influential and most awesome bands ever. Alice Cooper for example
@Dynamo11 LOL WHAT?!!! That's gotta be one of the funniest posts I've ever read! I can't wait to see the rest of the setlist.
Do you think we care about Guitar Hero Anymore do you think Activision that you're milking the series?! This game is a lot like a revamped version of GH3 when i was younger i didnt kno these bands at all except for a few bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Sum 41 but seriously we dont care if there is a new GH game because you're milking the seires and making music look bad, hell if i wanna listen to my favourite song i would play it on my i-tunes all i want if i needed to because i got all the songs i want from my favourite groups baby :D instead of paying 250 ms points just for a downloadable song when in real life if your a metal fan like me you go see the band at a concert and buy their album non of this Guitar Hero crap so screw with GH, rock band 3 is going to do alot better than GH Warriors of rock sure it has some cool elements to it but its just being milked if you dont like what i am saying i am saying the truth, go discover these bands that r in the game yourselves because i hate it when people say, hey have you heard of the song ''Panic Attack'' by Dream Theater Or ''A Tout Le Monde'' or ''Hangar 18'' by Megadeth, they will say ''yea i like that song because its in Guitar Hero'' you >:O WTF! IS WRONG WITH YOU!?, anyways so instead of buying this game go listen to the actual artist then buying this game and make activision suffer more because they r being idiotic and making the ''Metal'' genre look bad Good Day
yall are worse than console fanboys why can you guys just play one and leave the other alone... Ive played all the ghs and both rock bands and plan on getting rb3 and gh:wor and whatever they put out after that i mean honestly they are just games... not to mention they are practically the same game... obviously... if you all love rock band so much why not go to that games page and talk about how much you love it instead of cracking on gh... cant we all rock together... music is for uniting not dividing... sucks that this post will piss some of yall off just seems a little childish to me... anyways furry of the storm ftw plus five finger, atreyu, this might be the best one yet... we shall see
I like rhythm games as much as the next guy, but if you're gonna make actual guitar peripherals with actual strings (im looking at you, RB3) then seriously just buy a real guitar and start reading tabs cus if you're that musically inclined then you deserve to be in a real life band. on tour. making money lol. the charm of guitar hero was emulating a rock star and shredding on fake guitars. why introduce real instruments? seems kinda redundant. just my two cents.
Man, do people still care about this stupid franchise? How long will it take you to realize that all they're doing is making a mix CD that skips if you don't press the right colored button?
I'm not willing to drop $200 on new peripherals for RB3. This might be the first GH i buy since Metallica. It's got a good tracklist so far.
can they release a post hardcore, alternative, screamo/hardcore Guitar Hero? I'd buy tht game twice if it had good songs and bands.
why do they insist on picking the unpopular songs from the bands. why would i fork out $60+ to play songs i've never heard or a bands like 4th best song? thats stupid. even GH's DLC is picked from some of the worst music. they pick an awesome bands worst songs that no one likes. I have no idea how they pick what songs to release but whatever they go by to pick them is the dumbest thing in the world.
@DaAlienMan I know. The last thing Guitar Hero did that was innovative since it's birth was Expert+. Metallica was pretty good. You're right about Guitar Hero 2 being the last one to be truly cool.
Why do people still whine about these games? each new release is essentially a themed release now or just a slew of new songs on a disc. You don't have to buy it if you dont want to. Rock Band is NOT much better than guitar hero, they simply had a better business plan to continually release new songs for download. But at $2 each I really dont think that is much of a deal. They are just as greedy as Activision. Gameplay is essentially the same. What it comes down to is music selection at this point in the genre. Warriors of Rock to me is looking like a great buy. GH4&5 were both wastes with craptacular songs. Rock Band 3 will aslo NOT be much better its basically the same crap all over again. Whatever new "innovations" they have will seem like just an added button to make things different or challenging. Like DDR games. They became repetitive and each new game was basically new songs or difficulties or remixes. eventually they added extra arrows and eyetoy compatibility but that didnt save it. Same thing is happening with this guitar/band games. you can only go so far....
@ichc1000x exactly how i feel. GH II was the last game that was truly awesome to play and Metallica had lots of great moments too. but rockband seems to do quality over quantity when it comes to their games
@shany_boy And neither Rock Band or Guitar Hero has anything on DJ hero :) DJ Hero = almost a DJ Sim + incredibly much more difficult on the more challenging tracks than RB or GH ever will be (!) My new love.
Guitar Hero died when it tried to copy Rock Band. I left the series last year after a slew of terrible games. I then got Rock Band, and I haven't regretted it. Guitar Hero won't get anywhere with this.
Also, people are saying there are no memorable bands. Let's see: Ramones, KISS, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Queen, Def Leppard, The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, Megadeth, Soundgarden, The White Strips, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Poison, Steve Vai, Styx, Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple, Rush, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Foreigner, My Chemical Romance, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, Ozzy/Metallica, Night Ranger, Twisted Sister, and several others. If you're not a fan of classic rock/ heavy metal, you won't like it. But you can't tell me that there are no memorable bands.
I don't see why everyone continuely talks about how bad Guitar Hero is. Did anyone ever think that the reason we buys these games is for the music? I know a lot of people just bought these games because of the hype, but I'm a musician, so I like playing it. People liked the gameplay of the original, and it's only got better from there. So if you're not into it, don't buy it, but talking about how much it sucks is pathetic. I like Rock Band a little more than Guitar Hero, but as long as both series are still alive, I will be buying them.
Why does anyone even care about this series anymore? GUITAR HERO IS DEAD. When was the last time they did something innovative? Oh, that's right! when the original Guitar Hero came out. This game has nothing on Rock Band 3.
@sweetpotatofry And Rock Band grew tired with the release of RB2. Nothing new to anything.... except more songs. Guitar Hero has evolved ten times more during its releases engine wise. But I admit there's real change in RB3 with the new pro-modes. We'll see if those are flip or flop.
Regarding the Rock Band and Guitar Hero comparison. Let me just say this; Guitar Hero was always the real hardcore gamers thing, whereas Rock Band is for sucking noobs with a taste for collecting things (songs). Guitar Hero is were it's at, and always will be.... Now let the noob-flaming begin. hahah
I'm sure it'll be fun. But there's TWO big problems with the GH-franchise.... 1. Assuming they'll use the GH5 interface, that online face-off/band interface is impossible to score real good with since everything on screen (freatboard angle, hs effect etc.) remain the same, but is just proportionally *much* smaller. Too small!! (and, yes I play on a full hd screen) It almost seems to affect the timing window as well, dunno how (confirmed this with several kickass players, btw I'm a kickass player as well, so no idiotic comments ok). The GHWT online interface was 100 times better. Fix this if you want online activity Neversoft!!!!!! 2. It's a BORE you still can't get 100% gamerscore (or close) by just playing one instrument yourself and getting the rest of the help from ONLINE players. Why don't Neversoft fix this? It should be easy. I hate racking up full guitar/bass scores with some drum scores, and still have a measly 400-500 points. Fix this if you want game interest, online activity, and sales Neversoft!!! Thank you for reading.
One of the best setlists since GH3... I'll wait to see RB3's setlist before making a descision though
I agree with the majority of you when commenting about the GHWOR having 10 to 15 memorable songs or so that we all having been looking forward to playing. GH has always been more rock-based compared to other game formats. This also could be a reason that GH is not as strong as RB in terms of variety (in this case rock). Some of these newly songs are either on RB or the artists are so unfamiliar there's no true joy in playing these songs especially given the title of its product "The Warriors of Rock". There are far to many well known guitarists and groups, both past and present that GH has again failed to pay homage to. Once again, re-introducing the same "not as well known or least known groups with slightly different sounds isn't a strong selling point. I'm still deciding if this is a rental or a buy.
Get some 'The Locust' on there or War From A Harliots Mouth. Can't fault a band that use a sample from a .50 cal machine gun!!
SEVEN NATION ARMY!! bout time, along with some alice cooper, pantera, and ramones this setlist looks awesome!! better than GH5 that's for sure!!!
I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but WOW! Can't believe the comments about wanting Alice Cooper's Poison instead of No More Mr. Nice Guy... seriously? Go buy Love it to Death, Killers, Welcome to My Nightmare or Billion Dollar Babies because Trash is definitely not one of his better efforts.
Honestly so far very impressed with this set list, but I'm still waiting for Chevelle, in this game or Rock Band 3
Burnin' For You, Burn, and Call Me The Breeze are the only songs I would want here that aren't also on Rock Band. And I really don't like Skynyrd live as much as I like master tracks for them, so this is mostly a pass of an announcement.
I was hoping they would have something from Sub Pop records, but RB3 is prolly gonna have a better setlist
