Activision's music games getting new content thanks to "continued support" from fans despite publisher's decision to disband business.
Two weeks ago Activision disbanded its Guitar Hero business and said it would cease to release new songs for both DJ Hero and Guitar Hero after February. Now, the publisher has pulled a 180, saying both games will score additional downloadable content.
According to the official Twitter feeds of Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, both games will enjoy at least one more track pack thanks to fans' "continued support" for both brands. The Twitter streams did not state which songs will be available in the upcoming packs or affix a release date to them.
GH was never really my bag. I got GH 5 and Smash Hits, I got GH 2 and 3 used for like 10$ each. Rock Band on the other hand, I have almost all of them, and still get DLC when a song I love is released (Not often enough, where is the Our Lady Peace and more Chili Peppers?)
here you go.....every Guitar Hero song ever......for the fans........cause we love you..........that will be £200 :/
The cow isnt dry until it collapses and turns into dust. Right now it just fell over and 1 leg is gone.
Is this because people were giving such bad and negative feed back on Activision? if so.. we need to do this all the time to developers Activision! make a stand and be counted!
i gave up on the hero franchise years ago when it came out. i guess that means i knew actihell would destroy it before it even got good.
I've been playing Guitar Hero since GH2 released...I'm sad to see it leave, but the quality of the new games haven't improved. They were the same formula up to Warriors of Rock. I enjoyed what they did with it, but it would get boring. I hope the DLC is something good.
I find it weird Activision changed it's mind about releasing new songs for these games just because of a lit bit of a pick up in sales what are they going to do when the sales drop back down again go back to cancelling the plans for DLC.
DLC after the developer team has been disbanded? So they had it developed before. So Activision is WAY too greedy, releasing DLC after they fired its creators. Well played...
I didnt' realise that DJ was going down too, though I guess that makes sense if they're pulling the plug on one, why not the other? At least it's one last thing for gamers to have before it all goes dark.
Good! I don't want GH to die. I already have the instruments, so new content is the least I expect. Long live Band Hero.
