Capcom's monster-killing game for PSP and PS3 nabs Sony Japan's highest awards; Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 also top winners in User's Choice category.
As the year of 2011 reaches to a close, Sony Entertainment Japan held the annual PlayStation Awards on December 6 to honor developers for their hard work and high sales. According to the official website (via ), the awards covered games released between November 1, 2010, and October 31, 2011.
The top winner as the game with the best sales number was Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. The game's development staff at Capcom received 4 million yen ($51,425).
The rest of the winners who were awarded the gold prize included Final Fantasy Type-0, Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, Gran Turismo 5, Dynasty Warriors 7, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Version, and Tales of Xillia. Each of those game's development teams received 500,000 yen ($6,428).
Sony also held polls on its awards website for three categories this year. In the User's Choice Award category, the 10 games with the most votes were Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, Eiyuu Densetsu: Ao no Kiseki, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Gran Turismo 5, Catherine, Dynasty Warriors 7, Atelier Meruru, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Tales of Xillia, and Dark Souls.
For the PlayStation Store Special Award category, the top five PlayStation Network-sold games were Dissidia Duodecim Prologus Final Fantasy, Crazy Taxi, Elemental Monster Online Card Game, Hatsune Miku Project Diva Dreamy Theater 2nd, and Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition. Sony also created a World Game Award category, which honored games developed outside of Japan. The top three games to win the award were Call of Duty: Black Ops, Little Big Planet 2, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
@Coolyfett Malaysia and Singapore got one, just that its Japanese and you have to learn to remember certain words, but me Chinese have lesser problem cause some Japanese font are just Chinese words with their language :D
Or you can import one legit copy, patched to English and still you owned the game. That's how my Indian and Malay friend play Monster Hunter Portable 3rd do.
I've had a lot of fun playing MH Tri on the Wii, but c'mon Capcom...give us 3rd HD in english so I can play on my PS3 already. I've been really tempted to import it from Japan, but I don't want to have to bother with all the item & quest translations. Doesn't seem like a lot to ask.
I still want them to release Monster Hunter Portable 3rd outside Japan, but I've downloaded it and play it my CFW PSP. Hopefully, though they at least give me a chance to buy the 3DS titles. I really want to get 4.
@Trenchman Ok, you are right, technically 3DS is the fastest selling handheld console in its 8th generation, it will be sold in Asia, regardless of the Japanese, cause Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is sold in Malaysia and it was awesome, minus the downside of having to remember the Japanese words or patching the game. It is one of the most expensive PSP game, RM180 and I got 17 friends play this game, but currently I'm the only one(Sis) is owning a 3DS........
So, will it be released outside Japan, now? I need my Monster Hunter fix once more. Tri's gotten a bit boring for me.
Meanwhile, U.S. and European gamers are still out in the cold playing the very dated Portable 2nd/Freedom Unite..
Wow, very cool!! I'd like to know when Atelier Meruru will be coming out since it received the User's Choice Award!! 8D And I wish that they'd release a Hatsune Miku game in North America... :(
I really don't give a damn anymore. Go to hell, Crapcom, and keep your games for yourself. We know you're in only for the money, after all. Atlus ftw.
