Modern Warfare 4 teaser site is fake

Newly launched teaser site for upcoming Call of Duty is not the real deal.
A teaser website for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 emerged recently, featuring sights and sounds familiar to the first-person shooter series. However, this website is a believed to be a fake, a person who works with Activision but is not an official representative said last night.
The website, www.unexpectedreveal.com, counts down to a reveal March 21. Its source code specifically mentions Modern Warfare 4, as well as developers Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Neversoft, all of which are confirmed Call of Duty developers.
However, the website features a number of red flags, the most glaring of which relates to its ownership. Major companies like Activision will typically use a third party to handle website registrations, but in this case, the site is registered to an individual using a gmail account.
This is not the first time a fake Modern Warfare 4 website has emerged. A fraudulent Modern Warfare 4 site surfaced earlier this month, promising beta access to the unannounced game.
Though the new teaser site may be fake, Modern Warfare 4 is in fact rumored to be in development. Captain Price voice actor Billy Murray reportedly confirmed the game was in development last year, with an additional report claiming Modern Warfare 4 is 2013's Call of Duty installment.
Activision confirmed last month that a new Call of Duty game will be released this year. Executives do not expect this game to be as commercially successful as immediate predecessor Black Ops II.
The Modern Warfare story arc began in 2007 with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The sequels Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 were released in 2009 and 2011, respectively.
[CORRECTION] An earlier version of this story attributed the confirmation to an Activision representative. This person in fact is a member of an agency that works with Activision and not a an official representative for the publisher. GameSpot regrets the error.

1 Like Maybe it is fake maybe it isnt... but we all know there will be a CoD MW4 and a CoD BO3 and so on so why deny it? boring game series yet i'll most likely still be buying em it is still fun even though its boring but gives something to play when other games are boring :P

Don't worry, your latest $60 map pack running on the same 6 year old engine will be available just in time for you to buy it and be bored with it a month later. Then you can start hyping up Black Ops 3.
I don't know what would be more shocking. Not Releasing a new COD this year or announcing a Battlefront 3.

MW1 - spectacular story; MW2 - 2nd game of series, did not live up to expectations, MW3 - pure garbage. Anyone guessing how MW4 is going to be ? They should have killed the story at the end of MW2 and pick up a new one. Lost my respect and $.
I did really enjoy the whole story but please stop ruining my last good memory of MW, please just leave Soap and Ghost in peace.

@Suikogaiden i hate on CoD and haven't bought the last two games, though i'll admit i rented them just for their campaigns.

@kachal Well, kinda! But only because of single-player story, never cared about CoD multi-player.
Single-player in CoD, United Offensive, CoD2 and MW1 was just awesome, loved it. Anything after that was meh and after MW2, I stopped playing CoD games...and pretty much any modern military shooter single-player campaign.
Some exceptions here and there like Spec Ops: The Line. Gameplay wise nothing special, but story...damn, it was interesting, dark, mature, it got me thinking about consequence of my choices and just horrors of war,.....that was something!
Stop this terrible franchise at once!!.. This franchise has ruined the gaming industry with the same crap all over again.
of course is fake, because come on, it's not like there stupid enough to release another Modern Warfare right.....

I hope this series die and never return again . Kids still buy and in return it hurts other games' sales , specially those with Q4 release .
