I LOVE THIS GAME NOW I CAN FIGHT AZ LEONARDO FROM NINJA TURTLES AND RIP THEIR SPINE OUT LMAO BUMMER THOUGH CAN ONLY SELECT ONE KATANA SWORD
Midway's gory fighter hits 1 million shipped across both PS2, Xbox; Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks also hits milestone.
Ripping heads off torsos and dismembering bodies may not make good substitutes for parenting, but it sure does sell a lot of games. Midway Games today announced that Mortal Kombat: Armageddon has shipped 1 million units worldwide.
The game was released in October on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox and is allegedly the final Mortal Kombat game for current-generation consoles. The finale packed in dozens of characters from previous MK games and was met with generally positive reviews. The game is also headed to the Wii in April.
Midway also revealed that the 2005 game Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks has also shipped more than 1 million units. Shaolin Monks was released on the Xbox and PS2.
awesome.hopefully the next game they will make will be 1000x better cuz they ON THE NEXT GEN NOW!!WOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!
This game is stale. 60 characters which includes classic Midway features: palette swapping, "borrowed" frames of animation, even multiple characters have the same winning stances. Blah. Not to mention the cheap air combos that the computer loves to do. This game has no strategy like SF series does, its just mindless button mashing boredom.
I like the old school mk's. I never really got into the 3d versions of the game, other than mk4. I've heard good things about Armageddon though.
MK2 was the best out of the series in my opinion, MK:Shaolin Monks is a great game though.....idk about MK:Armageddon.....:P
Shipped, doesn't mean SOLD though... It was okay, but I was disappointed. The novelty wore off pretty quickly after I realized what they did to the Fatalities.
Actually Shipped & Sold are similar because they only ship what is in demand after the initial release, therefore they haven't necessarily sold 1 million but they are very close as it is in very big demand
Oh yeah. Headline says one million sold. Article says one million shipped. They are not the same thing.
I'm not sure if any of you even know this but there will be another MK made. This is the last MK with the current character/ Story line. After this it will be a fresh start. I just wondering what they will do with the "fresh " start. (cant remember where i saw this though. i think it was either in the game it self or on this site( It was in a video though))
its quite surprising since their last 2 games (mk:a and mk:sm) were not their best games (even though i bought them anyway). Its quite funny really! good for them!
Well, Armageddon rocks and MK is the best fighter ever. This is good news and brings hopes of MKA sequel on 360/PS3.
it's sad to see that ... considering that once upon a time, there was so much more potential to the Mortal Kombat franchise ...
Both really great games. Had a lot of fun with Shaolin Monks. It's even better now that Armageddon is backwards compatible on the 360.
i wonder if there is any tally on how many of those copies were traded in or returned... I guess sales are sales no matter how you look at it...
dholmes19 wait a second, the headline says 1 million sold, but the article says 1 million shipped...How many shelves in the world have MK: Armageddon sitting on them? Probably a lot. Technically, one million were sold. Not to players, but to retailers :D
I am a big Mortal Kombat fan since the very first one. However, the first, second and third mortal kombat are the only ones that were actually any good. When Mortal Kombat came out in 3D like everyone else i was sooo excited but as the true fan knows... MK went downhill from then on. The fighting system feels very stiff and is simply not fun after a short time of playing and yes i can control it fine (before you guys have a go at me saying i dont like it cos i suck or something at it). The fighting system needs to be completely re-done from scratch and when they do i will give MK another shot. Also as a simple side note to us Wii owners i hope they change their mind about not upgrading visuals for the Wii version

Mortal Kombat DIED after the 16-Bit Generation, a time where MK was controversial. Street Fighter >>>>>>>>>>> MK series Those who praise MK Now have NO IDEA what they're talking about. You teenyboppers are only jumping onto the MK bandwagon. LMAO
vivalaneta MK > Street Fighter. Always has, always will. Amen brother!!! Amen. I can't wait to see what they do with MK on the 360 and PS3. All I know is that I'm ready to .....FIGHT!!! Dee
game is so broken its sick!!! can we please make a game for the next gen thats not broken and unplayable.
