ok replacing the battles with turn based puzzle games is just stupid and why make it anime just because all other ds games why not be different
Turn-based puzzle installment in Ubisoft's long-running fantasy RPG franchise arriving on Nintendo's handheld in August.
Ubisoft's most recent installment in its venerable Might & Magic franchise--Dark Messiah of Might & Magic: Elements--turned out, well, less than great. Perhaps recognizing that it may be time to switch up the game's formula, the publisher today announced Might & Magic Clash of Heroes, a puzzle role-playing game for the Nintendo DS.
Ubisoft did not detail Might & Magic Clash of Heroes' gameplay mechanics, aside from saying that battles will be turn-based puzzles. However, the publisher did note that the game will offer five quest storylines, and will incorporate exploration elements in addition to battle sequences. Players will also be able to customize their army with a variety of fantasy archetypes, including knights, elves, wizards, necromancers, and demons.
According to Ubisoft, Might & Magic Clash of Heroes will also feature a two-player competitive mode. The handheld game is in development at Capybara Games, the Toronto-based developer behind the recently announced PlayStation Network puzzler Critter Crunch, and is expected to be released worldwide in August 2009.
Hmm I think that those at Ubisoft was clever because - HOMM & MM Fan known that HOMM & MM was great not because of graphic but gameplay so many will not care about picture much(If gameplay good) - Cartoon Style to attach more people (non HOMM & MM fan or Jrpg fan) so ... ... now... ... ... the only thing left was gameplay ... ... ... ... it expected to be released August!!! why no trailer YET!!!
Erm...is it just me or does everyone else see Might & Magic...on DS...anime style...? This was VERY unexpected...I want to see a trailer before I judge it...wait turn based puzzle?...erm...not turn based strategy? or RPG? ...how does M&M become a DS anime style game? thats literally the complete opposite of what M&M is...Lol. Seriously how Ubisoft? what meeting of minds came together to think this up?
If this game was an ice cream flavour it would be "clear". Another favorite dies a horrible death. I dunno maybe make an actual M&M game with less graphics? Duh.
Omg one of my favorite game series turned into casual puzzle turn-based anime blasters whatever. I can't believe it!!! cRash of heroes
lol Might and Magic has gone anime...that's kind of a shock, but I guess it's always nice to try new combinations.
More from the Critter Crunch people? Now that they're done ripping off Puzzle Bobble I guess it's time to destroy this franchise. I'm sad.
I too wished this was Heroes of Might and Magic a la HOMM3. Come to think of it, I really wish HOMM3 could make some sort of awesome new age comeback!
It looks kinda like an old jrpg... battles that are turn-based puzzles??? When the hell are Ubisoft going to stop just milking off this property. (Although 3DO obviously did the same thing...Crusaders of Might and Magic anyone?) I'm going to assume that Jon Van Caneghem will not be impressed. The prospect of MMX seems to be becoming ever so more distant... shame
I really love HOMM on PC! especially 3+5 ! I know that it will never be as good as on PC but I hope I'm not going to be disappointed !! :D:D:D
I hate to see what happened to my once favorite game of all time...Heroes of Might and Magic 3 ...since then, the series went downhill like a rollercoaster...
I got excited seeing the headline, disappointed when I read the story. HoMM is one of my all-time favorite series, a series I have been unable to enjoy for a long while with each new disappointing release. I will not completely dismiss this game, and wait until I know more about it, but my early opinion is not good.
ah .. noobisoft, destroying so many great franchise ... I shudder when I think HoMM franchise is in there hands :(
I am very sad to see Ubisoft continue to destroy this franchise. It was much better when New World Computing owned and made the classic M&M and Heroes of M&M games.
Can't believe the anime style cutesy graphics. I guess Ubisoft is trying to capitalize on the anime fan demo within the DS base of which there are millions, me included...but I love my western fantasy RPG franchises as well, and M&M was one of the best hard fantasy franchises out there. I don't quite see how this will help Ubisoft sell the game on the DS...M&M fans will stay away in droves due to the anime art style which resembles nothing like the classic M&M style, and anime/JRPG fans will stay away cuz M&M don't mean jack to them. Big gamble by Ubi.
Wtf is it with the anime style? Is that screenshot for real?! Ubisoft I hope you choke to death by drowning in all you s**tty games. You've completly sodomized the entire franchise.
Interesting. I would like to see the original franchise continue on the PC, though. That last installment would be a sour note to end on.
Might and Magic was such a great franchise up till the latest version which was a complete mess. I wish they would do a M&M 6 and do things right, but the chances of that are real slim.
