Hollywood executives? Im sorry but that didn't do anything but lower my already low opinion of the xbox one.

Hollywood executives are mindless, brainless, thoughtless, soulless, closed minded, ignorant people. That's why Hollywood in general only produces shit in general. I mean sure sometimes you get a big movie slip through that is genuinely a great film but for the most part you just get mindless sequels, needless remakes, generic shit that just goes down a checklist of genre trappings, and very sterile and boring material.

Descriptions highlights:

At 308, method 300 comprises tracking user viewing behaviors of the linear video content. These tracked viewing behaviors can be compiled into one or more reports and sent to the promotional service. Thus, at 310, method 300 includes sending to the promotional service one or more reports of linear content viewing behaviors performed by the user while using each of a plurality of different applications. As explained with respect to FIG. 2, the reports are usable by the promotional service to determine if the user-viewing goal is met.

The user-specific reports of linear content viewing behaviors may be received from any device on which the user watches linear video content. For example, a user may watch linear video content on a television, computer, and mobile phone, and each of these devices may be configured to track the viewing behavior of the user and send a user-specific report to the promotional service (e.g., via a common user identification).

In some embodiments, each device may compile a report that includes all viewing behaviors of the user across all applications on that device. 

In other embodiments, each device may compile a separate report for the viewing behaviors of the user for each application.

 In another embodiment, each device may notify the promotional service of every instance of a viewing behavior, and the reports may be compiled at the promotional service. In a further embodiment, each application may be configured to track the viewing behaviors across all user devices that include that application, and each application may send a report that includes the viewing behavior from all devices of the user.

The reports may be aggregated by the promotional service and collectively used to determine if the user-viewing goal has been met. Thus, at 212, method 200 includes determining if the one or more user-specific reports collectively indicate the user-viewing goal has been reached

So here it is, this is who the xbox one was really made for: tv/movie producers, advertising companies, and game publishers. Basically anyone with a vested interest in monitoring your viewing/entertainment habbits for advertising/product developent purposes. Made for core gamers my ass.

Are they talking about bringing more horrific movie games to the next console or trying to get exclusive first releases for digital movies that people are paying to get elsewhere anyways?  I mean really. 

Don't forget besides the fee to watch movies and programs you can watch on your tv or other internet options, you also use up your bandwidth necessitating a higher 'tier' which will increases your internet cost per month.

All so I can have a little screen on the side of my TV that shows me my fantasy football stats?  But of course ONLY the sanctioned kind, which I don't use, and I can already have real time stat tracking on PC, which I can do the same thing....or by a free app on my phone.

So M$ is saying they're going to throw a lot of money away for needless crap that has nothing to do with gaming?  All stuff which can be done elsewhere, usually cheaper, and definitely with more options you control.

I used to by consoles just to play games as that was all that older consoles used to do. You didn't have an option for anything else. I was even one of the naysayers in regards to the idea of a set top box that does everything. Then I purchased an Xbox360 and everything changed. I wound up using my console just as much for TV and movies as I did for gaming and I thoroughly enjoyed doing so. I have been a gamer sine Atari released Pong and the Atari 2600 but I also enjoy watching TV and movies. I love what MS is doing with the XBox One and I will definitely be buying a couple as soon as it launches. Too each their own. I vastly prefer using a single device for all of my entertainment needs, as opposed to using multiple devices as I have had to do in years past. Again, I am loving what MS is doing with XBox and will definitely put my money and support behind them.
