@RitsukoEX @XanderZane well. a kid can dream! I guess? ********************************************************* What kid? I'm over 40yrs old and have a kid of my own. I played Fruit Ninja this weekend. Was fun for about 30mins or so. Got some decent exercise. Great game for burning some calories. I'll play it sporadically.
EMEA region product marketing manager Robin Burrowe says gamers can expect new downloadable motion-controlled titles on a regular basis.
Microsoft's Kinect peripheral has proven popular for the tech giant. After sinking $500 million into marketing the full-body gesture-recognition technology, Microsoft has shipped over 10 million units. Moving forward, Microsoft will implement Kinect support into all first-party games, including Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.
Now, the company is looking to continue that momentum with a steady stream of downloadable offerings. EMEA [Europe, Middle East, and Africa] region product marketing manager Robin Burrowe recently told CVG that gamers should expect a new Xbox Live Arcade Kinect game approximately once a month.
"We're targeting a frequency of about one a month from the Xbox Live Arcade portfolio that will have Kinect integration," Burrowe told the website. "That will really be powerful and differentiate the platform."
Microsoft will begin working toward that goal this month when Fruit Ninja Kinect launches next Wednesday. Looking past that, Activision is shipping the Kinect-enabled Hole in the Wall this summer. Further, sometime this fall, Electronic Arts is bringing out Burnout Crash, and Minecraft is being readied for the holiday season.
@Rovelius - I'm guessing you don't understand context. Either that or you didn't even read the article. Porting Minecraft as a Kinect title is just ridiculous. ...repeat 1000+ times. Good times there!
@Fram_Dragger Way to hate. I did say spew on guess you know your role. No i bought mine to talk to my box while i waited for the SOFTWARE folks to start integrating it like all the games this holiday and next year. If you dont like what you see in the coming roads then move to Mississippi should love you there.
haters gonna hate. Spew on . Like anyones gonna take you seriously. Kinect won the Gimmicky movement control war and the Serious players still harp. It wasnt made for you why are you reading the NEWS about it if your just gonna troll.
@guertt Yes. I read the article out of interest and I don't care about Kinect. Why is that hard to grasp?
@Decessus when you say you think they should stay away from crappy and incomplete games, do you mean games like "fruit ninja"?? and other games like ti that might come out say... once a month? i agree with you.
To be fair, there are plenty of exclusives coming to the Xbox in the coming months. It's just that most of them are targeted towards people that own a Kinect and not toward the more traditional gamer. The strategy seems to be working for them so far, but as a traditional gamer I hope this doesn't become their long term strategy. Now that I got that completely off topic comment out of the way, I will say that I hope the titles that are released are quality titles. A game once a month sounds nice until you realize they are releasing crappy or incomplete games in order to adhere to the standard they set for themselves. I would rather they focus on making quality games for the Kinect instead of worrying about the quantity.
I still don't understand Xbox Live strategy. They sell the consoles with 4gb HDD even in the Kinect bundle... The people I know with 360s all have 20gb or less HDD. They can't buy games! If they do find some game they just have to have, it means deleting other/every thing else they have downloaded.
I gotta say ever since Microsoft has been on this super Kinect drive my 360 has just been sitting there collecting dust. There aren't really any exclusives coming for the 360 other then Halo Anniversary and Gears 3 the rest I really don't care about because there all Kinect titles and I pretty much by all multiplat games on my PS3 because when it comes to multiplayer it's free and I just prefer PSN over Xboxlive. Microsoft has gotta step it up with 360 exclusives ones that DON'T focus on Kinect otherwise I'll be trading in my 360 for a PS Vita.
I'm fine with Kinect games. Dance Central, Kinect Sports and even Kinect Adventures are all fun to play. I already pre-ordered the Star Wars Kinect bundle. Obviously Fruit Ninja is aimed more for kids, but adults can enjoy it for awhile as well. I'd rather have more hardcore Kinect games like Star Wars, Forza 4, Steel Battalion, etc...If they can put all this effort into Kinect exclusives, they should be able to produce more 1st party XBox 360 exclusives as well.
too many people to quote but, to everyone asking for exclusives i agree. my xbox360 has ben collecting dust like crazy. because most of the stuff that comes out i would either prefer to play on my computer or ps3. my computer because its a bad azz rig that can play the games better and better looking, and my ps3 because IMO i think its a nicer machine. honestly, do any of you "gamers" above the age of 16 really play the kinect stuff??? again IMO its all little kids stuff. microsfot needs to step away from the kinect and get developers interested in the core and hardcore gamer. gives us some exclusives. give me a reason to use my xbox360 again.
@RitsukoEX said: @XanderZane these are XBLA games. ******************************************************** Yeah, I know that, but they are Kinect exclusive games. I want XBox 360 (without Kinect features) exclusive games every month too. That's what I'm talking about. Give us non-Kinect, non-XBLA exclusive XBox 360 games every one.
You had me at Minecraft. Anyway, this is good for people that APPRECIATE the Kinect for what it is and the fun it can spark. Ease off haters, go be hardcore.
@Servb0ts I would totally buy that!! Hahahaha. Maybe that's where Microsoft are taking the Halo franchise?
Yeah I'm with supersamurai on this, Microsoft have completely killed any potential they could have had with Kinect. And as for the 'shipped' figures that because a hell of a lot of 360 consoles come with a free kinect now. The games suck ass, that's the truth. I like the Kinect because I personally think it has a vast amount of potential (look at what Universities have done with it) shame it has crap games. It's like an intelligent brainy kid being made to work as a road-sweeper. End of. Out of all of you guys on here, who actually owns/plays on their kinect? My guess is if you do it's gathering dust.
Make these monthly games cost 1-2$ (about what they're really worth) instead of 5-10$ and I'll be impressed microsoft. I'll even buy some.
People with comment on good for Microsoft for not abandoning Kinect, not like the ps3 forgot about the move are ignorant moron that tells themself lies to cover the sad truth. The truth of Xbox do not have much games left for their core gamer. Its becoming antoher Wii. Ps3 doesn't have games on Move anymore? So what is the new House of the Dead for? Why is Resistence 3 able to use move to play? Even the beta is move compatible. Also from E3 last i heard is there is a skeleton cartoony thing coming out for it. Sony abandoning Move? WTF are you smoking give me some. Face it you can't lie to yourself saying Microsoft Xbox is on the right track focusing on Kinect. Its the wrong way on the wrong track. Thumbs me down all you want cuz i am speaking the truth in a 360 fanboy news area. You can't run away from the truth.
A bigger push to get more Kinect games will end up in more exclusives for the 360. The only reason there is a huge lack of exclusives on the 360 is that the console doesn't have any defining features for games that can't also be achieved on PS3 and PC, which is why so many games this gen have been multi-platform. Yes you may get Kinect shovelware for a while, but more developer interest will bring you more exclusives in the long run and you are sure to get quality AAA exclusive titles from it if you are willing to be patient.
At least they're not abandoning it completely, like Sony with the Move on the PS3. Don't think there's been any new games for Move, PSN or retail announced for about a year now.
@Destrond Peoples problem isn't with the Kinect peripheral. It's an awesome piece of kit, but XLBA games aren't using its full potential, "ooo I'm moving my arm and its slashing fruit" or "ooo I'm moving my body and my avatar is moving" and also "ooo the camera took a picture of my face and put it into the game!" is a waste of its potential, Eyetoy has been there and done that and the Wii has covered all that and more. Thats not innovation, thats rehashing old ideas with better tech. As innovative as the Kinect is, it's being wasted on bargain basement quick win arcade crap and has yet to be seen performing to how everyone imagined it would. And how it was even marketed, a motion sensing controller for hardcore and Triple A titles it is not, atleast right now. This cannot be denied. Like most consoles and peripherals, people bought it on its potential to do great things and after a year none of these have even been realised yet. I'm sure theres innovative things being done out there right now with the Kinect (by independant companies or in universities), but its sure as hell not being done by Microsoft.
Planning on getting a 360 and Kinect later this year. Glad to hear they will be supporting it. Nice.
You people ask for inovation but you know nothing of the damned word. Kinect is innovation, if you don't see that then you need to stop playing CoD and start paying attention. You have no idea how hard it is to make some of the amazing things that are made with kinect. Someone made an entire virtual world, but your not interested because your all just a bunch of casual shooter players. CoD has ruined what used to be a great industry, moreso Activision has ruined it. When I see games like Red Faction or Oddworld go down because they were diverse and apparently to different for peoples taste, its sad. The industry is only getting worse because the community is getting worse, and to everyone who posted in here saying that Fruit Ninja Kinect and Minecraft were stupid games, you obviously have no taste in games at all. Fruit Ninja is as diverse as angry birds, and Minecraft is a brand new field itself that inspired a new generation of game developers and games. I hate seeing people come onto this site and post about how everything is crap unless its a shooter or something of that format. How about instead of judging these games, play them, otherwise, shut up, cause your opinion matters just as much as someone saying that the PS3 sucks because they like their xbox a lot, which is a lot of people.
Nice to know Xbox is still keeping with kinect and not abandoning it and 360 in general for work on the next gen xbox.
