Microsoft targeting new Kinect XBLA game every month - Report
EMEA region product marketing manager Robin Burrowe says gamers can expect new downloadable motion-controlled titles on a regular basis.
Microsoft's Kinect peripheral has proven popular for the tech giant. After sinking $500 million into marketing the full-body gesture-recognition technology, Microsoft has shipped over 10 million units. Moving forward, Microsoft will implement Kinect support into all first-party games, including Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.
Now, the company is looking to continue that momentum with a steady stream of downloadable offerings. EMEA [Europe, Middle East, and Africa] region product marketing manager Robin Burrowe recently told CVG that gamers should expect a new Xbox Live Arcade Kinect game approximately once a month.
"We're targeting a frequency of about one a month from the Xbox Live Arcade portfolio that will have Kinect integration," Burrowe told the website. "That will really be powerful and differentiate the platform."
Microsoft will begin working toward that goal this month when Fruit Ninja Kinect launches next Wednesday. Looking past that, Activision is shipping the Kinect-enabled Hole in the Wall this summer. Further, sometime this fall, Electronic Arts is bringing out Burnout Crash, and Minecraft is being readied for the holiday season.
