343 Industries job ads seeking staffers to work on next-generation of visuals, infrastructure as part of team that will "drive the future of Halo."
New internal Microsoft Halo house 343 Industries appears to be working on a next-generation Halo game. Job listings at the Redmond, Washington shop (unearthed by Videogamer) seek a graphics developer and FX technical artist to join a team that will "drive the future of Halo."
The requisition for a graphics developer seeks a person who will "help create the current and next generation of game visuals in the Halo universe." Regarding the technical artist job ad, the person chosen for this position will join a team responsible for designing and maintaining the infrastructure required for artists and designers to build a next-generation Halo game.
A Microsoft representative told GameSpot, “Our focus right now is on developing ‘Halo 4.’ Beyond that, we have no comment.”
Microsoft has previously confirmed that Halo 5 and Halo 6 are in the pipeline, as part of the new Reclaimer Trilogy. However, no firm details beyond Halo 4 have been made available.
Halo 4 is due out on November 6. A direct sequel to 2007's Bungie Studios-developed Halo 3, the game puts players back into the boots of Master Chief, adds a new Spartan Ops mode and an updated Forge toolset, and sees the return of the franchise's iconic battle rifle.

Halo I think is the only series I've ever felt where it could keep it's story-pace and gameplay for years to come. I say, keep making Halo games, just not every year or two for that matter, more like three. Makes you appreciate it more. The only time I ever take my console out of the box is to play Halo, when I'm done I box it back up and put it in the closet.
@Maelsthur tbh i disagree with everyone saying that halo needs to end, halo is an amazing series that is doing great and not 1 of their games (accept for ODST) has been bad, i think that 343 has the right thing going on and that they should show the world more of the halo universe

@jerichob10 I know dude, I love halo series too, but I dont want Halo turned on cod exploited, with so many versions that got shitty game play or bad development, everything needs an end and Bungie Knew ,it thats the reason cause they staret with other things. I am excited with Halo 4 bc I see many interesting things that I want to know and try. But I dont wanna see how halo dies with repetitivism or exploited for the ambition.
I do not play halo,but do not see why it needs to end. As long as the games are quality made games then keep making them I say. If mario,zelda,metroid,street fighter,contra and others can stay around why not this series. As far as call of duty maybe you exaggerate a bit. I do not play the games much myself,but I have not seen any of them that look poorly made.
@Maelsthur that is understandable, i dont want halo to change at all either, halo needs to stay halo. Not like cod where every new game gets shittier. I hope 343 can make a different entrance for each of their new halo games and that halo just keeps being halo.
Everytime a new version of a game is released with better graphics, mixed up multiplayer or just "a whole new game mechanic" it always leaves me thinking, 'Really? Yet another one? Couldn't have taken the risk of creating something new and possible much more interesting?' I have this especially with games that are being released every year, not to mention all of the DLC that is being sold for way too much money. You can name those yourself.
But for Halo it doesn't work that way - well, at first when it's announced I feel that way, but a month later that feeling is gone. I feel the creators and community of the Halo-universe spend so much time on providing more information about basically everything concerning that certain universe that all they're doing through the process of creating a game is add more information to that universe. I find every release of Halo, whether it is a game, a book, a movie or a live-action shorts justifiable because it's simply another way of providing more information.
And now I'm just putting the fact that the singleplayer is worth 300+ hours and the multiplayer is priceless aside.
2 Like I'm excited about the potential of a next gen halo game, and what the production values would bring on a much more powerful machine! Halo has always been solid. Yeah I'd like to see some new IPs from Microsoft, but I don't want them to abandon the Halo series either.
1 Like See here one of the biggest downsides of a commercialized industry, yet another Halo game. It would be so much nicer if they would just come up with something new. Sure, the game will probably be pretty good, but I've seen it all before. Sigh... Maybe I'm just getting old...
Yeah and then the people complaining about something new will not buy that something new. It is just like back in the Atari days. Atari had a rule that you could not have to many of a similar type of games out at one time. Developers came out with different stuff that did not sell well because gamers did not want those games. They keep making these games because people but them and and want them. Also I do not get the new game argument because there are plenty of new games coming out every year on consoles. I see plenty of stuff that is not hard to find.
1 Like @wescraven You're missing the point. I'm not talking about similar games at the same time or about what people will buy. I'm talking about letting a story rest when it's done and then coming up with a new story. Halo 4, Deadspace 3, remake this, remake that, devs are producing as many games as possible on the same IP, just to make money. And it works, I have to give them that.
But to keep something authentic and strong, you should know when to stop. There is no (official at least) Lord of the Rings story about Sauron rising again. Why, because he's gone, he's dead, it's over. I wish we could still do that, but apparently we can't. I think that's a shame.
i see a lot of discontent in the comments section here, a question purely cos im interested (put nicely no disrespect here)...how many would miss halo if they don't keep developing it ? i haven't played it for years cos i got fed up of buying new xbox 360's, i miss it. :)
11 Like I hope they keep making Halo games. They're great. The campaign is always epic, you want to know what happens next and you care about the characters. and the gameplay actually changes quite a bit throughout the sequels, and the graphics too.

Its seems no one at MS have ever heard of the term "New IP", they already hiring for next gen halo while current gen halo is yet to be released SMDFH

If this is news of a Halo 2 remake, then I'm beyond excited. I hope my friend is successful in finding his thread though. Bungie promised to release all secrets about each halo game 10 years after the games release. I'm guessing they forgot.
@leviathanwing I think you have to respect what cod has achieved and how they ve diversified trends from the early ww2 2000 game to a more modern shooter based on real events (not always welcomed as in the airport section on cod MW). I really enjoyed all cod series right from the begin-inning and medal of honor. I have the new one and BF3 and with crisp 60 FPS visuals along with fast paced action, i think i could. haha however in comparison to halo given a choice id have to opt for halo. Any thoughts on the matter :)

2 Like @adventurer360 However, in some cases -cough- diablo 3 -cough- that doesn't always work. But I'm sure with Microsoft backing again and 343 being a bunch of fanboys and fangirls of the halo series, this halo is going to be the biggest yet.

Hey guys, just because you can create a class of some sort in multiplayer does not meaa its going COD. i hope you know there were games before COD where u could create a classs
@SuperMarioBros9 not everyone played those games because they were mostly on pc. team fortress and the like is not in the general conscience.

2 Like @interrasteral7 Everyone would like to see more new IPs. However the reason you don't see that happen is the same reason you don't see original IPs on the movie screen: development costs. No studio is willing to risk that much money on a completely unknown IP.
@cyclocrosser team bondi is what people who complain about new ips but dont buy them should think twice about before complaining about it.
1 Like @gc88 well it would be really cool if the new trilogy was with new hardware, but it would probably not be the best move business-wise. Microsoft can launch this game, hook a lot of people on the new trilogy and immeditaly have a starving audience to continue buying it on the new platform, meaning they will need to buy the new console. God of War 2 proved this to work by the way.
4 Like @teufelherz They did something similar with the original Halo trilogy. Halo 3 wouldn't have been such a huge success on Xbox 360 if millions of people hadn't played Halo 1 and 2 on Original Xbox.

5 Like this series is getting boring Microsoft is milking the hell out of this and gears meanwhile SONY is creating The Last of US, Beyond while still supporting Uncharted and old school games like Ratchet and Clank... Xbox is starting to feel like sega when Playstation 2 came out

i think he means that even if sony is milking a few series they still come out with new ip.. wich means MS shoudl be able to do the same but they are not... even if he is a troll i do agree. :)
@rannoniWell in order for microsoft to be milking these series, they would have to be bad games. Halo 4 will not be a bad game
