Michael Jackson Kinect, Move games pushed to 2011
New motion-sensing versions of moonwalker-inspired game pushed to early next year; Wii, PSP, DS versions shipping November 23.
Ubisoft has delayed two of the five versions of the Michael Jackson-based game it unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. The French publisher announced today that the PlayStation Move and Xbox 360 Kinect versions of The Michael Jackson Experience will now ship in "early 2011." The Wii, DS, and PSP editions will ship on November 23 in North America and two days later in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The Michael Jackson Experience will include a number of Jackson's best-known songs, including "Beat It" and "Billie Jean." The console versions of the game will challenge gamers to keep up with dance moves and sing along at the same time, emulating the style of the late performer. Jackson died in 2009 of an overdose of an anesthetic injected into him by his personal doctor.
The Michael Jackson Experience won't be the first game to feature the so-called "King of Pop." In 1989 and 1990, he was featured in the hit game Moonwalker, which debuted in arcades but eventually also made its way to home platforms such as the Amiga, Commodore 64, MSX, and Sega Genesis. The latter version was recently rereleased on the Wii via the platform's Virtual Console retro-game emulator. He also made an appearance in the 2000 Dreamcast fan-favorite rhythm game Space Channel 5 as the character Space Michael.
I don't get it. What's the gameplay here?
The ability to act out invasive molestation actions on children, capturing it with the Kinect, and then seeing the MJ Avatar on screen interacting with those actions, will truly sell this game. But the music and dancing might help a bit I guess
Although I respect the King of Pop, I won't be getting any of the MJ Experience games of any versions. Too busy saving my bucks for something else.
@boobush Ah well, he's gone now. And he didn't do a darn thing wrong. thats the saddest thing.
Still, liking being around kids and sharing a bed, yeah, sleeping (no secs) is too creepy. I say, as someone who believes in ************, that we are not to judge, and that someone will, for better or for worse.
@green_dominator @Rekunta Its easy to believe this was just a case of 'accused of child molestation'. Thats too neat, and there is so much more to it. More than you could ever imagine. Go on youtube and search for Michael Jackson Wake Up Call and you WILL be in a much better situation to come to a conclusion on this. I'm not kidding, if you really want to learn more in a short time, watch that video. It's difficult for one person in here to explain to the masses. You need to watch..
@Latino1982 probably! i will always regret not seeing him live. very sad.
@TheJamin: was this the same kid that after MJ died, denied everything and said that he did it because his father pushed him to do it? The way i see it is that MJ didnt have a childhood, that is why he liked to be around kids, and then you get the parents trying to get money out of MJ.
@green_dominator Yea, I hear ya. I've considered the fact that he may be guilty, and his eccentricities can only make one wonder, but in the end they are still accusations and accusations should not destroy an entire person's life. I don't lend any accusations any serious weight without proof, and as all evidence was looked at, it didn't show that he did anything. I think MJ was extraordinarily naive and ignorant and made poor choices that left him vulnerable and open to exploit. But I think he had a good heart and can't see someone like that harming kids. It's possible of course, but I don't believe so.
Alright since I been moderated for expressing my right of freedom of speech and freedom of press, I'm going to go by the book and report everyone with even the slightest offensive content in their message. By the way Bad Medicine, I went and saw the midnight release of This Is It. In your message you said I will die quickly, is that a threat? MJ wanted peace, not violence so calm down little buck o. This article is about a videogame not MJ himself. No point in arguing about him and his life. Whats done is done.
@Rekunta Yes, he was found innocent but the charges were brought up twice. Anyone who looks at this with the facts at hand should realize that when a person is accused twice then maybe the accusations may hold some bit of truth to them. I'm not saying that I believe he was guilty 100% but I think that it's kinda strange to still hold him in such high esteem.
@green_dominator "I mean Mike Tyson beat up his girlfriend and Nintendo took him out of Punchout.....Jackson was accused of molesting kids and he get's a game, WTF?" Difference: Tyson was convicted and served time in prison, MJ was found not guity in a court of law. I doubt if he was found guilty we would be seeing this game come to fruition.
They could push this back indefinitely and I wouldn't shed a tear. I think Michael Jackson was a great performer and he recorded some of the best music in history but his personal life was too messed up, forget the fact that he kept a monkey or that he made himself appear almost white. It was the legal struggles he went through that troubles me the most. I mean Mike Tyson beat up his girlfriend and Nintendo took him out of Punchout.....Jackson was accused of molesting kids and he get's a game, WTF? I think something seriously wrong with this.....If Colin Mc Rae was convicted of hit and run he never would have gotten a game off the ground I think, you don't see the person or persons who killed Biggie and 2 Pac getting a gangsta rap game in the works..... idk maybe I'm overreacting but I just think this seems odd.....
And who has that much room in their livingroom to do a moonwalk? Even if I clear all the junk off the floor, I might get 2 steps in before crashing into a wall or something. I wonder if Kenetic works outdoors...
Michael had a lot of issues. A lot of them stem from his life as a performer and the way his family was with him. The guy was heavily misunderstood and certainly had some problems. Outside of his personal problems, he was the greatest performer of all time. Nobody has matched his fame or garnered the number of fans that he did during his life. Should you buy this game? I don't know. It's probably a bunch of non-deserving people cashing in on Michael's fame. Still, the game has potential to be fun and you know the music will be good. If the precision is there in the controls (for Move and Kinect) then beating the game on highest difficulty could prove very challenging. Nobody moves like Mike.
Do you use te Wii balance board for the foot work or is it just for the arms. Seems kind of silly if it is just for your arms. MJ's foot work was amazing!!!
@Latino1982 didnt a kid describe a mole on his todger in court? but he paid the family off? this was supposed to have taken place years before the major scandal. he was a great artist, but even the loyal fans must have expected a few jokes...
@Rekunta I know now what you meant by messed up. Yeah, he had trouble fitting in because of his stardom and the way he was brought up constantly working. Thats got to change a man. But he wasn't a 'messed up' in a sense he was maniacal or evil, no way... he had good intentions especially for world peace, that was one of them. But we can't understand that, how often do all us NORMAL folks wake up and the first thing on our minds is "shall I try to make the world better today".. not many. He did loads of speeches too, I loved hearing them
@Bad_Medicine Thanks. I'm a huge fan of MJ, have been ever since I was little. But to say he didn't have his problems is being a tad disingenuous. He was messed up, people just preyed on it. The man was a genius in more than one way, and genuises usually are fairly screwed up in some way. I don't mean any hard feelings towards MJ when I said "messed up", but that's simply what he was in the later stages of his life, and I say this as a forever loyal fan. I don't blame him, but dude.....he had his troubles. One look at his face later in life will tell you that. RIP M.J.
@NightShadeX There is only ONE human race.
I cant believe people still believe michael turned himself white on purpose with oxygen and all that nonsense. Truth is he got virtigilio and that is disease that turns your skin pale white. He could either go through an extensive treatment that could last years or let it spread but avoid exposure to sunlight. I would have done the same thing MJ did and if you are not down with that UP YOURS!

@Rekunta Thank you for at least backing up MJ. but the words ''messed up'' are totally uncalled for. MJ wasnt the problem, it was us. He was so kind, TOO kind for this world and for NORMAL people like us who couldn't understand his kindness. I got his DVD's and you should see the amount of times he'd go into poor countries while ON TOUR just to visit the hospitals with sick and dying children and give money and presents to them. People don't know that, because he didn't make it public like Madonna and all them fame monsters do.

@rangeraa - Michael did dye his skin to a point, yes, but he suffered from the same condition my father and sister-in law do, Vitiligo (also linked to Lupus), where huge patches of the skin naturally go white on their own. My father in law is white anyway, so it's not as noticable, but if your skin colour is naturally black, well, you do the math - if you were already a known superstar (which Michael easily was by the time he started getting it noticably), then what would you do to blend in? Most of what you're saying just perpetuates the same stereotypical nonsense people expected of him... guilty or innocent for the obvious? None of us will ever know, but he was never found guilty on any of the counts, which must say at least something... he didn't help himself with his eccentric ways, but then eccentric doesn't automatically mean guilty. @subzezo - agreed - to this day, the character model of him is so beautifully animated.... I daresay that this is one case where the videogame is even better than the film.
@rangeraa What does this have to do with anything? You believe what you will, I won't try to convince you otherwise, but that's not my point. GS's comment was. MJ's personal problems are not my concern. The guy was obviously messed up, but he had a very rough life. It's not my place, nor yours, to judge him. Try to show a little compassion and respect, the man's passed on.
@rangeraa: show me proof that he was a paedophile ok
I still prefer playing Michael Jackson's Moonwalker on GEN. It's irreplaceable.

@Bad_Medicine How was he a freak? Are you seriously asking that question? The guy died his skin white...had so many plastic surgeries his nose FELL OFF...Oh not to mention he was a pedophile...but I guess that's all forgivable because he made good music...Give me a break.
@Rekunta because everyone should love and respect a creepy guy who liked little boys... NOT! The guy never got enough flak for his, shall we just say, "personal preferences".

H e was also in Ready 2 Rumble 2 for the Dreamcast.
Booooooo. This is the worst gaming news of the year
How can he be king if he is not around anymore? Isn't that how kingdoms work? When they pass there is a new king.
@nullvision I understand this, but what does it matter that he was accused? Are you saying that excuses this? And you're right, GS doesn't need to call him that name, I know it's not formally given to him. But if they decide to use that moniker, then they use it either just as "king of pop" or not at all. "So-called" is just not needed; it holds negative connotations and implies he tried to be something he wasn't and was a poser. It's like saying, "Let's go see this so-called doctor." MJ did not ask for the title, he was not a poser, and as you said, Liz gave it to him. Regardless of whether he's the KOP or not, it's a jab at him and is unnecessary.
@Rekunta He was also someone who spent something like 20 years being accused multiple times of being a child molester. Besides, Gamespot is in no position to call him by that name - it's a named he claimed for himself. MANY news outlets will qualify him as so-call. Nobody awarded him this title. In Fact, Liz Taylor was the one who started that.
"The Michael Jackson Experience won't be the first game to feature the so-called "King of Pop."" This sentence is not necessary. "So-called". It's blatantly obvious the writer of this article holds a bias against Jackson. Try to be a little more professional and objective GS, your opinions are of no relevance while reporting news.
@xxxAdvocatexxx .....so what about the other 2 boys?
this game was in production before michaels death.
MJ admitted to sleeping with children. He, of course, said it was innocent. But 50+ year old men shouldnt be sleeping with the children of strangers. Anybody that buys that nothing creepy went down is just in denial. This game is just looking to cash in with casual gamers who will buy it because it will get a lot of media attention. They'll play it once and can tell all their facebook friends how they're a REAL gamer and a MJ fan. Yawn.
I bet everyone here would be happy that people used their death in order to win tons of bucks out of it /sarcasm. Rest assured, I haven't given these people one cent for their immoral use on an artist's death. We already said goodbye to him, but they know they will get profit from the fans either way. Just like Elvis Presley.
Bad_Medicine He was abused by his father as a child and I think being such a star at such a young age robbed him of his childhood. As an adult he only tried to live out the youth he never had. I don't know why he did the skin bleaching and the surgeries, maybe he felt ashamed of his race?
@jamccain Instead of thumbs down'in me.. try answering the question :] because you can't come to a justified conclusion made up by you and you alone.
@jamccain How was he a freak? I want to hear this.

I guess the dance implimentation took longer than expected.
@xxxAdvocatexxx Yup thats right. When I ask people "who told you MJ was like that?".. they respond by saying "uhmm, I read it.. in the paper.. and the news told me".... Yeah, nice way to form an opinion on something if you ask me. Maybe some people should pay attention to details don't you think?
@JP totally agree
@JP- Shame on you! Shame! Shame! Shame!
