I want MGS: Portable Ops and MGS: Peace Walker on the PS Vita... Who's with me? ... and can I get a hallelujah?!
Konami confirms seasonal release window for touch-screen-enabled compilation of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3.
Snake is sneaking onto the PlayStation Vita this summer, as Konami today confirmed that release window for Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.
The PS Vita version of the collection includes a pair of PlayStation 2 hits in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Both games are being tweaked for the PS Vita to support higher-resolution visuals and touch-screen controls.
The PS Vita version of the collection will also interact with the PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid HD Collection by way of Konami's "transfarring" cross-platform save data feature. Besides starting a game on the console and then continuing it on the handheld, transfarring will let players earn shared trophies across both systems.
While the PS Vita version of the compilation works with its PS3 counterpart, the two packages aren't perfectly alike. The PS3 collection includes an enhanced edition of the PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker that is absent from the PS Vita version.
@simpletaste Yeah well I agree with you. I don't like touch screen controls much anyway. You should be able to use buttons.
@SANDMAN201 What I mean is over abuse of touch screen controls and gimmicks such as in Golden Abyss. For example in Uncharted: GA, the UI was touch only which didn't make sense that you wouldn't have the option to manipulate the menus via the directional pad and buttons. I'm okay with touch screen controls, but I am an advocate of given a choice more. If I wanted to use touch screen functionality or if i want to use old school buttons, let me decide.
Ppl keep going on saying "i played these years ago why would i play them again"......WHY WOULD YOU NOT PLAY THEM AGAIN!!!! THE REASON THEY ARE BEING MADE AVAILABLE THIS GEN IS 1) Because they were great! and 2) because most of this gen dont remember the glory years. I for one cannot wait to play MGS2 and MGS3 on my Vita. They were the greatest games of the ps2! Yes im a big MGS fan, some ppl dont like these games. But the majority do so deal with it.
@orestes1981 u clearly misunderstood what i ment by new games - ure counting up old game series i love uncharted but i prefer to play it on a big screen and actually made by naughty dog as for the others its not my kind of games and its people like me that sony need to sell to - not people like u who are already sold on the lil that is on offer
This is cool but I hope they come out with a exclsuive Metal Gear game for the vita like portable ops
@sknight175216 Point? Maybe you should read back again. "People don't hate the fact 3DS has a good game. They hate the fact it gets an MGS game, MGS3 no less." You asked something, I answered. Then you called me a hypocrite, so I gave you a response claiming you are wrong and didn't get it. Now tell me what is so hard to understand about that.
@metalkitten "The vita has no new games" = THE MANTRA OF THE MORON Uncharted Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Little Deviants, Escape Plan, etc would like to have a word with you....
@supertom22 You're hilarious. But just out of curiosity: what is the point you're getting at? I'm not really sure.
so another game that already exist on ps3? minus one game too? what are they thinking? make some new games!!! so people buy the vita for that and not hd collections most people already got or rayman who is an excellent co op for 4 people on ps3 and other consoles pleeeeeeeease make some new cool games - not stuff we can play on the ps3 or other consoles - ure kinda fighting urself sony in many cases since most prefer to play the games on big screen ps3 and yes those who dont have a ps3 but a vita might want it - but why dont they have a ps3? - cheaper - wayyyyyyyyyy more games im longing for the news of some cool new games for the vita!
@sknight175216 No, because you are obviously trying to tag in the only ways you know. Where did I say I am happy about it going to VITA? You are just trying to get dirt out of me, which you won't. And for that matter, yes, bringing for VITA might be better. VITA is a mini-PS3. It has a direct HD version port of MGS3. MGS3D is a recreated version of MGS3 in a manner of 3D effects and a completely new engine that includes duck-walking, which did not exist in MGS3. Therefore, they are not the same game. THEREFORE, MGS3D just takes MGS3, uncessecarily remakes it so 3DS could deal with it, and uses 3D to make it one big gimmick. So, what do you have to say for your defense?
@supertom221 So making it portable for 3DS is wrong, but making it portable for Vita is right? That seems pretty hypocritical if that's what you're getting at. @DrKill09 You are correct, I'm not a Simpsons fan. I'll also try my best to learn English too ha ha.
haha, whats the point? Ive finished both games years ago, why would I want to play them again? are the developers stupid or something?
@DrKill09 HD collection available elswhere vs done up version with extra features. Don't know about you but when I want a HD game I tend to get it on the consoles where it can be played on a nice screen too, it'd be less ideal on a handheld but at least the 3DS version has added features. People are simply getting too iffy about the 3DS. It doesn't help the Vita isn't selling well so all the fanboys have to rage at the other systems but ultimately both systems are getting metal gear so who cares. Think I'll get the Snake Eater 3D on 3DS and HD collection on PS3 or 360 though ;)
@Raeldor Doesn't exactly work like that in MGS2 &3, that's more like Peace Walker. 2 & 3 are like some one big grandiose adventure you are going through, linked by your saves. There is no replaying, only cutscene replay.
@supertom221 Good to know, thanks. I hope you can at least save between missions though, so you're not replaying multiple missions if you couldn't save?
I can't f****** believe I'm going to have to buy the same game all over again if I want to play it on the Vita. They are really taking a dump on their loyal customers here.
@Raeldor No. It's not an on the go game, it's a game where you have to sit down and focus, give it all into it. You can save inbetween gameplay alot using the codec/radio, but it will feel wrong to save too much, and will ruin the whole point of stealth, if you are just gonig to replay that part a hundred times over. Also, cutscenes are very long in MGS, and if you skip them, you miss alot of what the game is, and it loses it's meaning. Just a heads up.
@sknight175216 Oh nononono, You are mistaken. People don't hate the fact 3DS has a good game. They hate the fact it gets an MGS game, MGS3 no less. If you were a fan of the original PS2 one back when it was the sh!zz, you'd know. It's hurtfull seeing all that power mimicked to some small screen on a portable console as if it's an on-the-go play, which it is not, and maknig MGS3 one big gimmick. It's painful.
MGS 3D probably has the best 3D effect ive seen on any 3DS game so far...Its still definately worth a pick up. It even looks a bit better than the PS2 version you guys are playing on the collection. The frame rate drops slightly in some scenes but the 3D more than makes up for it. I own both the collection and the 3DS version anyways :P
They've milked the hell out of this collection series. I understand and appreciate they're the greatest games to ever hit any console but this experience especially due to the revolving cinematic experience it has to be played on a large screen
Nice to know the developers have faith in the thing. Sure Sony may be throwing money at them to get this done, but if it works the thing will be huge :) More games = more sales.
Also I bet the people who are hating on the 3DS version haven't even played it. So I would try it first before you knock it. It's a great game to pick-up if you have a 3DS. If you don't there's no reason to even talk about it ha ha. Just buy the game on what ever console you have.
@Pixel-Perfect People like me who only own a 3DS would buy Snake Eater 3D. I don't have a PS3 or Xbox 360 or a Vita. So 40 bucks for the game or 200 for another system and 40 for the HD collection. Not logical. I don't understand why people are being so hateful that the 3DS has a really good game. Of course other systems are more powerful, but damn that doesn't mean the 3DS can't have good games too.
... TOTAL BS.... I was hoping for Remake games to play on both the PSV and PS3 Just buy 1 time on PSN and there you go. Though for those who want the BRD copy then fine, but for me I would get the digital copy if it would play on both. I would even pay $5.00 - $10.00 more. BUT to have to buy the same game on both systems is just dumb. Still I can understand there SHOULD be an OPTION for those who want it on one form or the other.
That's pretty cool. Maybe now I'll go ahead and get a Vita. MGS is something I'd definitely play on it.
I've never really played a Metal Gear Solid game, so I'm really looking forward to this. Hope it translates well for on-the-go gaming. Anytime-save or lots of save/check points, please!
Bye Bye 3DS. I have Peace Walker on psp and HD collection, so not so bothered by not having it on Vita. More than likely, conflict of interest with psn.
@blackace : Because the first chapters of any of these series would look gruesome in HD, simply because they were made for PS one. Snake's face in MGS one looks like a bloody mess. Soy they would need to really remake things. Plus, hear what @KillerNinja247 said, it is probably true, as I read the same thing in other websites yeaterday, this release date is only for Japan. An in Japan the HD collection comes only with MGS 1 and 2, not Peace Walker. And it is named MGS HD Edition.
I don't see a point to this unless they plan on include the first MGS game as well this time. Otherwise, it's a waste of time putting this on the PSVita. I already have the MSG HD Limited Edition (Xbox 360) version, but I have no plans on playing it. lol!! Going to sell it this X-Mas on Ebay for $150. It's impossible to find now and by X-Mas it will even be harder. Next time do it right Konami. Same with Silent Hill Collection. Only Silent Hill 2 & 3. What happened to the first game. Will they do the same thing with Suikoden as well? lol!! Idiots.
@TheArcade actually they would just use the ps1 classic that is available to download on psn which the vita will support eventually don't know when or why it is taking so long
@BlueFlameBat: The Vita is of a different architecture from PS1. It wouldn't be very cost effective to port it. They'd have an easier time porting the Windows Version like they SHOULD since it operates at very high resolutions but even then they will be lucky to break even.
@ Marky360 Peace Walker was already available in the PS Store as a PSP download game so no there's no need to put it in the Vita collection.
@ BlueFlameBat They want you to buy the first one yourself, either that or they just can't fit all three games in one disc (which I'm sure they could but choose not to).
What is it with Konami excluding the first games in their collections? I noticed Silent Hill 1 isn't in the Silent Hill Collection.
Since it includes MGS2 & 3 for the price of Snake Eater 3D on 3DS it's technically a better deal....but the exclusion of Peace Walker is pretty lame and makes it not as good of a deal as it's console counter parts...
Ohh I saw it this morning and I believe this time Gamespot kinda screwed things up. Hear what @KillerNinja247 said. It is true. Why hasn't gamespot covered the Vita event? Souds like a big deal to a game website. Not criticising here, just asking.
This was announced during JAPANS PS VITA GAME HEAVEN VIDEO THING THIS MORNING AND ONE WOULD PERSUME THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE JAPANESE RELEASE! IN JAPAN THE PS3/360 MGS HD COLLECTION WAS ONLY MGS2&3 AND PEACE WALKER WAS SOLD SEPERATELY, IN JAPAN! Everywhere else the ps3/360 collection included Peace Walker!, One would assume the NA/Eu release of this Vita collection will be the same way! I'd hold off on getting too upset about Peace Walker not being included until its actually confirmed to NOT be included in the NA/EU release!

The excellence of the games included make Metal Gear Solid HD Collection a compilation no Vita owner should be without.
