Real or not, I hope Metal Gear Solid 5 is officially announced at the 25th Anniversary event later this month. We're well over due a full console sequel.
Metal Gear Solid 5 Comic-Con images 'completely fake,' says Kojima
Hideo Kojima tweets that screens that emerged during the convention last week are "completely fake"; pleased that he can still "create the buzz."
Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, has dismissed photographs apparently showing screens from the next numbered sequel as "completely fake." The images appeared this week on Reddit and were reportedly taken during a behind-closed-doors showing at last week's San Diego Comic-Con. Konami UK tweeted in response, "Fake or real, we love a bit of speculation!", and claimed to have been in contact with the person who had set up the fake rumours.
The screens show a Metal Gear Solid 5 logo (at right), subtitles appearing to be from a cutscene, and suggest that it was indeed Kojima's enigmatic Project Ogre. Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski contributed to the confusion in a tweet indicating that he had been "showed some crazy new stuff" by Kojima in a back room at Comic-Con--what he was referring to remains unknown.
Project Ogre is Hideo Kojima's current project, which he had previously suggested will "take a long time" and is independent of Metal Gear Solid, though he intends to work on side-projects simultaneously. In March this year, Kojima said he was working on something that will become "the shining moment" of the Metal Gear seriest; Metal Gear Solid 5 was officially announced on June 20th.

Look I am in the minority I know but that's ok this is only my opinion. But the metal gear series has always confused and frustrated me and therefore I do not find the games fun in the least.

1 Like I think MGS5 would be nice touch for the end of PS3 system. Just like MGS2 and then MGS3 ending it well for PS2.
@moe050 No gamer wants to keep changing equipment every year, we are forced to buy new merchandise to keep up with the industry. It is all part of the marketing plan. PS3 will obviously/eventually give way to a newer system which we have to buy again!!!
That's called gaming, if you bought your console a year ago you don't get with the times, if you bought it 4-6 years ago you should be happy. You know there are people playing on computers too, which also needs some money worth, every year that a console is prolonged is another year with multiplat BS and we could buy alot of xboxes for the money we spend. Not that I'm unhappy, or whining about multiplatform, just putting things in perspective.
Sounds dodgy and almost makes many of us fans feel insecure about the care being given to MGS5 but I trust in Kojima, the legend that he is, he always delivers.
1 Like As long as it's not a sequel... I'm happy. However, if they give it the Bourne Legacy treatment and make a game that ties into the originals heavily with some level of importance then I wouldn't mind that much... Just keep it STEALTH! and don't go down the Splinter Cell and Rising route
Well at least this is just screens, but I am wondering how Kojima plans to continue MGS if MGS5 is real.
2 Like MGS truly is a series that really isn't generic, DEFINITELY doesn't appeal the mass market, and delivers a unique story experience that is very off putting to a lot "traditional" gamers.
That's exactly why I continue to buy them.

6 Like Jesus, I'm sick of people thinking that the MGS story can continue. Sure, there's prequels, and different characters, but as for a continuation, that would just a be milking the franchise. The story ended with MGS4.
2 Like @guudgidga So long as they make the story as interesting and engaging as all the other games there's no reason not to have a sequel.
Maybe you think playing as Solid Snake would be a bad idea, but as I said Kojima always manages to deliver whether it continues as Solid or changes protagonists; plus who's to say MGS 4 was meant to be the last Kojiama may have planned the series to go all to 2100 so we can use holograms and lasers to take care of patrols.
1 Like @guudgidga If you're talking about the story ending from Solid Snake's stand point then yes, it did in fact end. but Kojima has stated that he wants to make a MGS game about the cobra squad... where I could certainly see room for continuation of the franchise without milking it. Kojima would never ever release another MGS game if it wasn't going to be different and elevate the series as opposed to a certain.... metal gear rising... which isn't even handled by Kojima
1 Like @guudgidga We still don't know if it will be a prequel or a sequel. I would be pleased with both. I don't believe he is milking it either since each game is getting better and better. I still play 4 today and the only thing I can think of when I play is how much more I want to be able to do. I believe it could go on to be a sequel. Snake acting as a new colonel, or he gets kidnapped again and forced to do something. Put Raiden or a new character in the mix wouldn't hurt either just as long as it sticks to the typical "Solid" espionage stealth.
@pizzamuncher nope! kojima is the one who want to do it. he happened to said something about next MGS after seeing E3 2010. he already put his mind to end the series, but i think something 'snap' after E3 and these crazy ideas of his keep pouring that he decided to make MGS5. (maybe the reason they abandoning Rising is to dedicate their work to MGS5)

My hypothesis is that during the events of Metal Gear Solid Rising, Snake will have an appearance more or less near the end of the game and either be cured of his accelerated aging, or at least get the wheels turning into MGS5

regardless kojima some months ago said that there will be a classic stealth mg game after rising so calm down fellas!!!
