Clearly the game of 2008. Gratz to Kojima on his epic. MGS series are a highlight of gaming industries, and frankly no other game came close to the grandeur of MGS.

i loved the game... couldn't put it down once i started playing it... but I have to somewhat agree with mooglem4n, I don't know if it is game of the year worthy, it's definitely worthy of something... and I can't necessarily say I'd put another game before it, but still I was a little shocked when GS gave it a 10. I'd give it a 9, but a 10? Common, why are we so eager to give 10's away so fast these days.. cause we haven't had one in a while?? .. lol..oh idc.. give it a 10.. give it the game of the year... pointless comment? yea i think so, just like to make people think they're reading something worthwhile.. just kidding guys, I'm just bored. hey moogleman Hideo Kojima is selling Konami to another company and the story is continued by raiden and sonny im not sure if its true but it is a leak for metal gear solid 5 to be on its way to being created

am i the only one who was left disappointed by the game? im a huge fan of metal gear i absolutely loved the game. but mgs4 made me hate the series. dont get me wrong the visuals are amazing and cinematics and all that is sexy and i will never get over the final scene when the rays are climbing all over the battleship! but its just that. too much time watching cinematics. not to mention i kinda had a personal vendetta against solid snake since mgs2 because i fell in love with raiden right away and wasnt one of those guys who only liked raiden for his ninja suit! anyway my main point is i hated having slow snake and felt gipped because i was a fan of raiden right away and was kind of hoping we could play as him even with a side story because his story is just as interesting as the snakes if not more. ok game at best is my other point. game of the year? afraid not. so many other titles id rather see it go to like little big planet or fable 2. for the record im an owner of all three consoles and am not a fanboy of anything.

congrats to kojima for their succes in MGS4 to me its the best game and worthy of Game of The Year 2008 I hope they release another title focusing on raiden that would be cool and besides they never said it was the last MGS game itrz just snakes last mission or maybe not u never know this happened in MGS2 SOP it was suppose to be the Last title but instead they continued

Favorite game of the year for me (so far). I have to agree with MTMind2 on this one. And what a fun month this has been for gaming. Resistance 2 and Gears of War 2 was plenty for me...but now I have to hurry up for Mirrors Edge and Call of Duty.

Wow, I guess I was proven correct. As soon as I posted, the 360 fanboys came on and slammed this article. It makes me agree with corndawg69 and wonder, does 360 fanboys just have a personal vendetta when good news comes to PS3 owners (or such company's pertaining to the console)? I mean, don't 360 fanboys have good games already like Fable II, Gears 2, and their Halo series? Why do they want MGS4? It's one of the most successful PS3 titles that also sold consoles. With it's success and good reviews and talks, 360 fanboys changed their tune in saying the game sucks to , "oh, the game should be ported!" I don't get 360 fanboys... trudge a perfectly good article about MGS4's success on the PS3 right into the mud by saying , " Hope this game gets ported to 360 soon." Oh come off it already, don't turn this article into your playground 360 fanboys (which you seem to always do)! I can wish that Gears and Halo would come to my PS3 all I want but facts are facts and you can agree it would not feel right going unto a Sony console as well. It's just like saying Mario is coming to 360 and PS3, wishful thinking but it won't happen. Just let dead dogs lie and return this article the way it should be, In congratulating Kojima on a huge success of MGS4. i have always loved metal gear, and this was a great game, they all were really, even snakes revenge that was kinda???? but they were all good, great series in gaming.

eh...I wasn't impressed with MGS4. I was never a fan of the series and I only got about 6hrs into MGS4 before I got bored. Maybe I'll finish it one day though

One last thing to the fanboys.If MGS4 is crap then why do you want it to get ported? Because you know your missing out on a great game so keep it real. @thewilyranger Metal Gear was originally on the MSX,not the NES.

well if they would stop doing PS3 exclusives they would probly be doing fine. they need to port ninja Gaiden Black to the Wii or make a Ninja Gaiden for the wii.

Hideo said many, many times that he was not going to port MGS4 to the 360. They have utilizes the hardware of the PS3 fully, they would have to completely remake the game (sans storyline, obviously) and that is not something they are likely to do. It would be like trying to run Mac OSX on a computer built for Windows. While it's possible, they would have to modify a lot of the code, which isn't really worth the effort. (Edit. Or remake the system to conform to the software, which would make the 360 a PS3)

if they put msg4 on xbox i will smack bill gates! thats like saying hey lets put halo on ps3 or gears of war! i think games that were meant for their consoles should stay there, its not far! ORRRR just make every game for each, then no competition, the only thing xbox has going is their online, if sony made people pay it would be just as good, but being so nice they made it free so yeah!

If Konami is anything like Capcom, throw enough money at Konami and they will make this a multi console game. It'll be on the 360 eventually.

Hey xdeiri, since you're wondering why Americans are supporting the PS3 I can tell you that I, for one, get much much more playtime out of my ps3 than my 360. I'm not a sony fanboy (this is my first playstation AND xbox, if anything I'm biased towards nintendo, since I've been buying their systems for way longer), but I play my ps3 almost every day, and rarely touch my 360. That may be due to the fact that I'm not a big fps fan (omg!), and I feel like the 360's lineup is overwhelmingly fps's. Here's what I've (mostly) been playing: mgs4, little big planet (just bought it), ratchet and clank, eye of judgement, rockband, folklore, heavenly sword. And I have a 60gig ps3 and have also been playing some ps2 games (since this is my first playstation) like final fantasy XII. Also get some good playing time out of my Wii with mario galaxy, metroid prime, zack & wiki, zelda, mkart. The only 360 exclusive I've been interested in recently has been Mass Effect...

TenAkuma ? man what the hell are you talking about stop the story telling , the ps3 is selling in the us more than double the sales in japan ,its like 1 to 3 , and I am puzzle by this , why Americans are supporting ps3 more than x360 , the ps3 sales shows that more than 60 percent of ps3 are sold in the us, it may have one reason , yes you figure it out it is blu ray , they want full hd movies

i disagree with you keitha, current technology is on its limits and we are actually on the supporting side for the consoles , than entertaining our selves... it will take 5-10 years to achieve "a true upgrade" to our gaming hobbies including( head tracking HD vr goggles and motion capture gaming)so what can do is decide and support the company that we want to go with.

remember, M$ has some weird and pretty shifty 'multi-disc' fee confirmed by Carmack himself when talking about bringing Rage on the to 360 and PS3 (the 360 version is going to be severely gimped because of it)

I understand were your coming from TenAkuma, But i dont honestly see the whole fanboyism thing ever stopping it is all about America vs Sony which is abit silly considering we're playing to be entertained not to support a console, That is people choice what they want to do best advice is let all their biased opinions fly right over your head as they dont really matter. And ooh yeh MGS4 has to be the best game ive ever played and ive played alot of games like GOW1/2 Halo3... Only real contender to it would be COD4 or the new COD coming out this week. I also reckon MGS4 should come out for the PC to boost sales.

I'm willing to bet a few bucks that all these folks criticizing MGS4 for being a "boring movie" or something of the sort never even played the game--or own a PS3. Stop with the fake reviews, people. Sheesh. If the game ever did get ported to the 360, these same people would buy it and love it (though their pride will only allow most of them to say, "It actually was pretty good."). And on the topic of porting it to the 360--I'm sure it can be done. The 360 is going to allow full game installs. Of course, a 50 GB install is going to be a bit troublesome for most 360 owners, but I'm sure they'll have newer SKUs with bigger hard drives by the time MGS4 gets ported (though I'm guessing it never will). As to the total number of sales of MGS4--of course it doesn't sell as much as super-hyped games on the 360. The 360 has a huge install base. A lot of Americans love their native console. It's all about nationalism. That's why internationally the PS3 is the favorite--because everyone has some sort of disdain for Americans. Haha. Just kidding... maybe. Actually, I guess if you love the first class shooters of the 360 (Halo and Gears), the 360 definitely was the way to go. But it looks like the story-centric games that also happen to have good gameplay go to the PS3 (MGS4 and Uncharted). I have to say, Gears is a good co-op campaign shooter that PS3 folks are missing out on (Halo 3's campaign was pretty lame). But 360 folks are definitely missing out on some good games as well. PS3 folks get their shooter fill with the decent first-party Resistance franchise, and they also get the (what I consider to be) #1 FPS in Call of Duty, anyway (making Halo very obsolete). In the end, it's the rich folks with both consoles (AND the Wii and an awesome PC) that are the real winners here.
