Metal Gear Solid 4: 25th Anniversary Edition spotted

New version of Konami's 2008 PlayStation 3 action game spotted at United Kingdom retailers.
Konami is preparing a "25th Anniversary Edition" of its 2008 action game Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. That's according to United Kingdom-based retailers Zavvi and ShopTo (via Eurogamer), which have posted product listings for a new PlayStation 3 game due November 30.
Konami has not announced any such product, and the publisher was not immediately available for comment.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots launched in June 2008. It did not receive any downloadable content, but a patch this summer brought Trophy support to the game. Additionally, its multiplayer component--Metal Gear Solid Online--was taken offline in June.
As part of its 25th anniversary celebration for the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Konami this summer announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes as well as a full-length feature film based on the series.

1 Like If anyone is going to bother playing an older MGS game, don't let it be MGS4, it's the weakest of the lot, game-play wise.

Why would you buy this honestly? If you already own MGS4 there's no incentive and if you don't own it you can find new, sealed copies of the older version for $20 and under. You can't even play MGO anymore! :\
I'd rather have Twin Snakes ported honeslty, that way I could finish my MGS collection on PS3.
Either Konami or Kojima said they would rerelease the game with trophies included on th disc when they first announced they were going to update with trophy support. so this news isn't really that supprising.

1 Like I didn't know that they put trophies in the game. :-) For a period somewhere in 2009 I was checking every week the trophies dedicated sites to see if there will be ever trophy support for MGS 4! But I gradually lost my interest for the subject. And lately for trophies/achievements in general. And for PS3/Xbox 360 games in general. lol But it is a welcomed addition nevertheless.
Soooooo...... What's it inside it? Guess we'll find out when they officially announce it.

@IEpic_rOxIS maybe just me it just don't feel right to play ANY MGS game on the Xbox. feel the same when they put Dead Or Alive On the PS3

@Norrie91 @IEpic_rOxIS MGS GZ multiplat to attract...lure.. 360 player buying MGS 4 for ps3 and prob MGS 5 for PS4...but that just my asumption
1 Like I think best thing this anniversary edition could do if it won't have anything but already preloaded trophies, is some way to not have those blasted install screens where I watched snake puff away for 40 minutes, then you may have won me over Konami...and perhaps give me some special perk of buying this edition like say a code to early multiplayer beta if Ground Zero is going to contain MP.
you can do a one off install now with the latest patch and then never have to watch those again but takes up way more HDD space!
@RenegadeDaryl @UnifiedGamer worth the HDD space in my opinion....as long as you have enough of course (got a 500 gb so im good for now)
1 Like What will it take for a Metal Gear Online mode/game that doesn't get taken off after 2-4 years of active service. Come on guys! Some of us want to play for the long haul!

I sold my copy of MGS4 a wile back and wish I wouldn't have. I can't find it anywhere, except online, and I hate buying stuff online. So this is nice to hear. With that, I don't really like re-releases, but I can make an exception here.
Metal Gear Solid should remain a PS3 exclusive. Xbox has Skyrim DLC to keep them busy. Bring on the hate replies! Lol!
@xsonicchaos @HipHopBeats Revengence AND Ground Zeroes has been confirmed for X360. Plus theres already the HD Collection (2, 3 & Peace Walker).

@mr_azim @xsonicchaos @HipHopBeats PLus every websit I've been on under Ground Zeroes says X360, PC & PS3 under consoles with a release of December 2013, the actual date in December varys though.

@Norrie91 @xsonicchaos @HipHopBeats Ummm..No confirmation of Ground Zeroes being on 360.... all they noted was the demo was played with a 360 controller on a PC (PC with PS3 specs).
except it already was...i definitely remember mgs2 and mgs3 being re-released for the xbox
@xsonicchaos @Link3301 Doubt there'll be a 360 MGS4, but Ground Zeroes is also out on 360 and PC. As a PS3 owner I really don't care, I'd rather more people enjoyed the game to be honest! I'll probably get MGS: GZ on PC anyway, for the graphics 'n' stuff
