Platinum Games' action title hitting store shelves early next year; demo to be included with Zone of the Enders HD Collection.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has been dated for early 2013.
The news came from Konami's pre-E3 press conference, in which the publisher also unveiled a new gameplay trailer for the Platinum Games-developed action title.
The game's story has changed places in the Metal Gear timeline. Originally, Metal Gear Solid: Rising was intended to take place before the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, showing how the character of Raiden made his transformation into the cyborg ninja of the 2007 PlayStation 3 hit. However, when Platinum Games was attached to the project, the time frame was moved to several years after Metal Gear Solid 4, to a time when cyborgs are becoming more commonplace in the world.
While Metal Gear Solid: Rising was originally intended to showcase a mix of stealth and action gameplay, Revengeance drops the stealth aspect to focus exclusively on action. Konami also dropped the "Solid" from the title to distance itself from the particular brand of stealth action people associate with the Metal Gear Solid series.
Mirroring a tactic that was used for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and the original Zone of the Enders, a demo for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be bundled with Zone of the Enders HD Collection when it launches later this year. The demo will also be released on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network at a later date, Konami revealed.
Series creator Hideo Kojima gave a teaser about the future of the Metal Gear series in the Konami presentation, talking about the new Fox game engine. "We're also very excited about the new Fox engine, which I can't say too much about for now, but please stay tuned." It was recently announced that the next generation of Pro Evolution Soccer will run on the engine.

I'm sick of all these news, will this game a console exclusive or PC, one said its made into PC, while Hideo Kojima and Platinum game said its a console exclusive, bring down the case so we can all settle our mind once and for all! For Pete's Sake! D:<
"Revengeance drops the stealth aspect to focus exclusively on action"
That's like GTA taking out cars to focus on beating up hookers
im a mgs fan and i think this game will b great its not stealthy that is y it is called metal gear rising revengeance not metal gear solid revengeance and i think lots of people should stop complaining this could be a very good game calling this metal gear solid put too much presure on the original development team that they couldnt handle that is y it changed
While it's sad that Kojima Productions turned over the game to another developer- I have faith that this will still be a good game if the story elements of the Metal Gear Solid series are intact. I loved the stealthy feel of the series, but it might be good with a change of pace.
What's really sad to see though is the common hypocrit opinions. Raiden first appears in Metal Gear Solid 2 and is the main character for most of that game. The response to that was a very critical reception to Raiden as a character - and that he was a pussy-ass character. So much so, that they make a spoof out of it in Metal Gear Solid 3. Everyone laughed at that. I did. But unlike most people I actually liked the Raiden from MGS2.
Along comes Metal Gear Solid 4 and now Raiden has changed into a badass cyborg ninja. Fans of the series LOVE Raiden now, but complain that they can't play as Raiden when he fights with style and grace and owns everything.
Kojima decides to fullfill that wish and starts development for Metal Gear Solid: Rising, but is man enough and has respect enough for his own series to turn the game over to a company that has more experience with the action genre. Because no matter how you look at it, Raiden isn't stealthy in those cutscenes you all wanted to play in MGS4. But now you complain about it's not stealthy enough. Will you guys ever be happy? I don't know about you, but every game that Kojima has turned out in the Metal Gear series has been awesome. He's obviously very connected to this project even though it's Platinum Games making it. I think it will turn out just fine.
(P.S. I know that Kojima also had Peace Walker to work on at the time - so that obviously had an impact on his decision to forward the game to another developer).
This game completely is a pile of poop since it has no stealth in it, and it will be poop because I that is how I, as an MGS fan express my profound logic. Yes my logic is absolutely correct because every single game without stealth in it is also complete poop. I don't understand why people buy Modern Milkfare 3, all you do is shoot things, haha. Also if I haven't proven my point, I will emphasize that my point is that I am a MGS fan. And MGS fans are never wrong and ignorant.
@NoLifeGamin Anda s far as i'm concerned, there is a little stealth to the game, besides he's still a ninja, you just go there and kill all enemies without being seen, but good luck with that right?? Even so i'm a MGS fan too, not only MGS fan but i respect Kojima (something you obvioudly lack) and every game he made was awsome for me, this not does not seem different.
@NoLifeGamin MGS fans need to Proof read if they want to come off as "never wrong and ignorant."
@NoLifeGamin Well, this is MGR, not MGS, problem solved.
This has become one of those games that can't possibly live up to the extended development time. Sure to be a let down.
Does anyone care that you have to use Raiden? I remember when MGS2 came out people were all kinds of pissed about the guy. Now all that anyone cares about is the fact that they made it non-stealthy. When in fact if you were a dude in some kind of bad a$$ suit that allowed you to block bullets and chop metal gear ray legs off why the hell would you be stealthy? On a side note they should have made this game about Grey Fox how awesome would that be.
@slikjohnson I agree, Grey Fox was already a cyborg ninja that people really liked from MGS1. Alot of possibilities there
Why is this still listed for the PC? I thought Platinum abandoned the PC version when they took over. Did this change, or is that a typo, or do we simply not know? Don't toy with my emotions here, GS. I need this.
Is anyone bothered by the fact that revengeance isn't even a real word? Why not call it MGS revenge or MGS Vengeance... I guess it feels like a lame title.
@Rickystickyman They cannot rename it to a real word when revengeance is already a real word. It's where the word "vengeance" came from.
That's why it was never aiming to be a MGS, but a MG-Game.
@AndreasRufus You're saying that as if the MG games AREN'T stealth-oriented. Stealth was ALL that mattered in MG1/2. Story became an important asset at the launch of MGS1.
You people can't be this stupid to think the SOLID title has anything to do with the fact it's a stealth game, right? The SOLID, is for the transfer from 2D to 3D.
@supertom221 For me MG is Kojima, so yeah he can do whatever he wants with it xD
@AndreasRufus I did read, and I know what you meant. But I stand for what I said, I merely corrected you for rehashing the same wrong idea everyone else is making. The title makes no matter, Metal Gear is Metal Gear, changing the Solid to Rising makes no difference, as Metal Gear is mroe than just a name.
Therefore, what you said to khaled stands for nothing. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?
I am responsible for what I write, not what you make out of it. Read the comment I did reply to. That game never wanted to be part of the "Solid"-Series, so how can it be a discrace to it?
Seriously - read before posting.
I liked the first version, the MGS: Rising better than this Revengeance. I know I haven't even played either of them, but from the look of things, Rising seemed more into innovation while Revengeance introduced nothing new, it looks like a Ninja Gaiden game.
Regardless of any biast bashing of its story telling or genre class, with the amount of development problems this one has had since its birth, its going to be hard to think this game can be anything better than average.I might be wrong, but this one has had a serious amount of problems from day one. Not only that, but it's another Bayonetta/Devil May Cry, there is only so much depth to a game like that.Have to wait and see I guess.
Seriously im so sick of people bashing MGS Rising just because it isn't a "stealth" game. Jeez people this isn't meant to be an MGS5 so stop friggen complaining. you don't like it, don't comment simple as that. Me on the other hand, i know quality in a game when i see it, and its obvious that anyone who is calling games made by platinum games "mediocre" obviously never played any of their titles, either that or their so used to playing games where you just watch a quicktime event, that they forgot what a real action game is like or how to play one. So all you idiots can sit there bashing it all you want, im going to enjoy this awsome game when it releases. I'm just saddened that the same people who supposedly love mgs and understand its story, can't even see that the same ai computer system that was being used to control everyone in the games, are being used to dictate to you brainless idiots, what game to buy and what game to bash. Grow some balls people, don't talk before you haven't even played the game yet, makes you all look like ignorant losers.
@dom28 Fans are usually the biggest B*tches ever. Period. They simply cannot accept change that might be good. Just look at all those lame annoying Resident Evil Fans. They actually believe the tank controls are a good thing and then they say the old games were scary. Which I find extremely laughable. Scary in what way? Sure they were if you were a kid back then but if you played them now its funny to believe those crappy old RE games were actually good compared to the newer ones.
@dom28 Oh look out we have a Bad ass over here. You said "don't talk before you haven't even played the game yet." You haven't either. How do you know the game will be good or Bad. You said "you don't like it, don't comment simple as that." Are you god or something? You are allow to post your comment about how good you think it will be but, others can't post about how bad they think it will be. Relax will ya opinions are nothing but opinions. Yours is no different.
@ExplicitMike i dont know nothing about the game but i know story wise its gonna suck " hello platinum games"
anw lets get over with this crap game so we can all move on to the REAL MGS
@Albaficas Yeah, right this game is a psin off so the story really doesn't happen, even so it looks a good story, REAL MG comes from Kojima so yeah, it is MG.

@chilly-chill I think the game is good , and it has a little stealth if you want, you can stealth kill the enemies. And the story seems cool so far that we could see.
@chilly-chill how can u take this guy seriously ?
just look at his avatar for christ sake
@Albaficas It really is hard to take anyone with Final Fantasy 7 or Naruto avatars nowadays. They were the equivalent of unironic brony avatars even before Friendship is Magic exists. People just don't trust them after all the reputation their fandom get.
The same can be said about Sonic fan art, with the key exception of avatars that came from the fan comic Tails Gets Trolled by lazerbot on DeviantArt.
I am pointing all of you mgs fans who think this game is just for the money and it will be mediocre. If it was developed by a mediocre developer, obviously it will suck, however, do you guys have any idea what platinum games have created already? Their last game, with only minimal time and budget, they created a kick ass 3rd person action shooter, "Vanquish," and, a gold standard hack and slash, "Bayonetta." These both received excellent reviews. Ok then maybe you don't read reviews, regardless, consumers have all appreciated the entertainment they have provided, and kojima has PERSONALLY asked platinum to develop a game! I AM a true mgs fan, and i greatly appreciate kojima to give something out of the ordinary.
@ishsgames JUST ok reviews and crappy sales especialy vanquish and both boring crap story
sry dude but gow remains the king of the genre end of story and now with ascension no way that fake MGS wannabe will change that
@Albaficas Don't forget that Kojima is taking care of the story, about gow i kinda don't agree, it's a good game and the violance is good but the story kinda seems lame xD, fake MGS wanns be?? yeah it's beacuse it's another MG saga not MGS.

@burnedandfrozen Not really, Kojima said, it was kinda difficult to make the game desing base on fast paced action, and stealth at the same time, so they descided to put stealth aside, and for better work on the action they have given part of the project to Platinum Games.
I love action games; while I love that Platinum Games is doing this game, I think it is a great "missed opportunity that it didn't stay as a mix; like it was originally crafted to be. Those very firsttrailers just mad it look so appealing; one would really get a greatly unique experience. It's too bad, really. Regardless of the fun factor this game is poised to have, knowing what it stated out to be will always be a bit of a disappointment. That being said, I do have some interest in seeing how this ends up, if only because of who is behind the project.
Ok, so I haven't played a MGS game since the first one on the PS2. The game that introduces that silver haired guy. Has he become a full on cyborg? How or when did this all happen?
@redness19 he is also the most hated character of the franchise in asia and also in the west
@redness19 You should play all the main Metal Gears, but if you really want to know what happened to Raiden from MGS2 (Assuming you meant MGS2, since that was the first MGS on PS2), then you need to play MGS4, it's a must to truly connect to Raiden's story, and that besides it's a f***ing awesome game.
@redness19 First MGS game was on the PlayStation 1 and MGS2 was the first game on the PS2. I don't know if you meant "Metal Gear Solid" on that or "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty" on the PS2. His name is Raiden and the best way to find out would be to play MGS2 and MGS4.
