Capcom's alternate-history action RPG starring iconic Blue Bomber slated to arrive on the DS in early summer.
Mega Man may be best known for his side-scrolling platformer antics, but the Blue Bomber also has roots in the role-playing genre. Today, Capcom announced Mega Man Star Force 3, the latest installment in its handheld-exclusive action role-playing game spin-off series. The game is expected to arrive in the US for the DS early this summer.
A departure from the traditional Mega Man versus Doctor Wiley storyline, Star Force 3 follows the pursuits of Geo Stelar. Though he exists in the physical world, Stelar is able to enter the digital world and become Mega Man through a special tool. Unfortunately, this connection to the digital world is threatened, necessitating his attempt to save the world.
The biggest change Star Force 3 introduces to the series is the noise change mechanic, which randomly affects Mega Man and his surroundings. However, Star Force 3 will also maintain the series' traditional action RPG gameplay, where players gain special abilities and attacks after defeating certain enemies and boss characters.
Like previous installments in the Star Force series, Star Force 3 will come in two variations: Black Ace and Red Joker. Following a similar strategy to Nintendo's Pokemon, the two versions include unique differences that can be shared with others by way of the DS's Wi-Fi networking capabilities.
give it a chance. i loved the battle network and the past two starforce games. i think they need to give the starforce games a better rating. if you've ever played one you'll see they deserve better.
To all you critics: Just because the MMSF series has mostly GBA graphics doesn't mean it's a lame game. The game has good gameplay and a GREAT plot. The other MegaMan games such as X and Zero were excellent, but their time is over for now. My prediction is that Capcom will extend the StarForce series 3 more games to match the 6 that Battle Network had. After that, I'm sure MegaMan will have a new, non RPG suprise waiting for us. Be patient, appreciate the StarForce games, and don't get on Capcom's case.
I was wondering just the other day about MM DS games. I'm w/ TrancePlant, Capcom needs to make more MM, or MMX games instead.
I know I am going to get blasted by Megaman fans but I really wish Capcom would come out with a new modernised HD Megaman instead of bringing out the same visually inferior garbage!
hahaha, why don't they just make it for next gen console, Mega Man would look more awesome w/ next gen graphic.
Mega Man Battle Network 9... someone needs to put this series down, fast. For those unaware, the Star Force series is a DS version of MMBN. It's pretty much the exact same game, only with a bizarre name for Mega Man and a more constricted battle field.
I'd like to see more of the original Mega Man or Mega Man X... rather than this Network, Battle Network, Star Force, Super Force WHATEVER Mega crap!
or make mml3 or x9 like they did with mm9 only do it like x4. the megaman is easily my favorite series and ive been playing them for 17 years, but its hard to remain enthusiastic when they keep making this stuff.
that why a got a PSP,im sick of this crappy version of megaman, if you want to play a real megaman play Megaman:Powered Up or Megaman X:Maverick Hunter
Let's hope that MM Star Force 3 will surpass the expectation and improve a lot. Capcom, next time, bring more side-scrolling games (or remake Megaman Zero games 1 through 4).
