SAF64WII, Capcom was goin hardcore retro with MM9. When the ol' Megs was just a wee lad he didn't have any of that fancy sliding and mega buster-charging. But I agree. After well over a decade playing a mega buster and sliding (if not dashing) they're hard to play without
Capcom's blue bomber to get another retro revival on WiiWare; Sheep Man the latest addition to robotic rogue's gallery.
Mega Man's main power is his ability to adapt, incorporating the abilities of his fallen foes into his own arsenal. Despite that, Capcom appears perfectly content to leave the blue bomber's blueprint unchanged for the newly revealed Mega Man 10.
In the January issue of Nintendo Power, the magazine previews the next installment of Capcom's long-running action franchise, which looks to remain as slavishly faithful to the original NES classics as its critically acclaimed predecessor. Mega Man will once again fight through a succession of eight levels in any order, each with a correspondingly themed robot boss (for example, Sheep Man). Upon beating each boss, Mega Man will receive a version of their powers to equip and use in the remaining levels.
Not everything will be the same, however. Players will be able to swap out Mega Man to play as Proto Man from the start or a third, as-yet unrevealed character. The standard Mega Man plotline is also getting a bit of an overhaul, as players will be trying to find parts to make a vaccine for a robo-virus called Robotenza.
Excerpts of the issue released online only mention a WiiWare version of the game, which is not surprising, considering the platform-specific nature of the magazine. (Mega Man 9 was released on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Arcade, as well as WiiWare.) Also absent from the sneak peek is any mention of a release date for the game.
Please give him the MEGA BUSTER and the ability to slide and I'm SOLD!! I hate Megaman 9 because why Capcom removed these moves from the blue guy....
Capcom should release Megaman 9 and 10 for PC through digital distribution stores like Steam and D2D. I would certainly buy it for a low price. Fortunatelly, I can still play it through Dolphin.
This could be good if done right, perhaps New Super Mario style controls? I'm curious to see the new bosses.
Actually, TheRealMantra, I think it would be better to fight Shearman first so that I would turn all his wool into cotton that you could rub on the patient's arm first before giving them the shot! it would be like getting 2 parts at once!
I have nothing against these games but I haven't played one in a while It would be great to have a new 2D megaman for the PSN
@megamanfanx7 I never played the Xero series. Heck, i didn't played the X series past 5 much (since they went downhill in my opinion) so I don't know what happens when Xero starts.
@Superzone: Makes it all the more rewarding when you win. AMIRITE? I thought 9 was perfect in every way can't wait!
YES, more Mega Man pixelated glory! And pleeeease a proper ending to the classic series about Willy and everything, a connection to X, and stuff.... we've waited so many years for this! >
this sounds tight. I can't wait to take on sheepman, but not until I have defeated velcroman and aquired his velcro gloves weapon modifier! Baaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!
Sheep man? *Mrf.. snort... HAHAHAHAHAHA!* SHEEPMAN! Wily? What the flying F*CK were you thinking!? What is sheepman supposed to do, kill megaman by turning it's wool into a sweater with evil static cling? LMFAO!
OMG YES. MEGA MAN 9 WAS AWESOME. Hopefully they lighten the difficulty just a tad, though. The 8 stages themselves were a great challenge, but the ending was insanely brutal!
Hopefully it will have better music than 9 did. I dunno about you guys, but I loved Mega Man 1-6 and the music played a big part in it for me. Each game had it's own collection of great songs (some had more, some had fewer) however Mega Man 9 did nothing for me in the music department. That Robot Boss music was really just.......ugh, terrible. :( The only song on the game I liked was the Wily castle stage music. Maybe one or two songs in the whole game. Aside from that, the game was great. Just PLEASE Capcom, have the team put more effort into the music for 10.
wanna make it a smidge less hard than 9? lol i couldnt beat it (though i will admit, i didnt play it as much as i'd have liked)
@drkill09 so your problem with dead rissing is you did not like it because you could not save it as and when you wanted seems like a silly reason to dismiss a game do you not think that if you could save it when you pleased it would of made the game a bit easy and less of a surviaval horror and just a reload if im struggling a bit.
Whatever. State of Emergency was NOT awful, it was just misunderstood. Problem was, it was marketed as the "next GTA3", when it was just a mindless brawler. It has more in common with Fighting Force than GTA. Everyone just went into that game with too high of expectations. But Dead Rising still sucks. How you never encountered the horrid save system problem I had, I don't know. I had to restart that POS about 3 or 4 times before it ever kept my save. Why the hell doesn't it either A. have autosave, or B. have a save option in the menu, LIKE EVERY OTHER MODERN GAME?!
@Berserkerz - Yeah I never understood the 3D one. But then I never saw a second one. I remember one chistmas not long ago, when the Mega Man X Collection for... Was it PS2? Or Gamecube... Anyway I was like I must have it! Still do too! But neither my PS2 or Gamecube are with me anymore... So I'd love to see some revival to the 360. I would gladly buy!
@SUMMONO. Didnt they make a new 2D megaman about a year ago i think it was available as DC for one of the consoles.
@dogpigfish Megaman Legends. Best you'll ever get. Kiddie, but still pretty good. Please either remake Megaman Legends or make another just like it. MML was probably my favorite Megaman game simply because it was fun to play. And with today's tech and gameplay mechanics, I'm sure it would do fine.
Sort of pathetic what the once prominent Mega Man series has now become. Retro style in WiiWare is just cheaper for them to produce, and money has always been what was most important to Capcom when it came to milking the Mega Man titles. Rockman OSS was a total flop in Japan; I still hold some expectations for this though.
@drkill09 please explain how the saves in dead rissing never worked? They seemed to work just fine for me also bosses dont respawn at all and state of emergency was a awful awful game. Back on subject havent played a megaman game since the gameboy days would be nice to see what they do with the series only thing i am wondering is why is it for the wii only? serious games dont seem to do well on the wii only novelties seem to sell well for this console
Here they go again! Milking Mega man for all it's worth! They did a good thing with the 9th installment and I don't want them to jump into a 10th game so soon.
@Rjay123 no way, that's what remakes and retcons are for. plus, they always have the mega man soccer series to fall back on lol.
@drkill09---how are the mm games numbers confusing?mm1-6 on the nes,mm7 on the snes,mm8 on ps1,mm9 xbl,psn,wii ,mm10 wii,and most likely psn&xbl mega man "x" series(not 10 X) mm x snes,mm x 2 snes,mm x 3 snes,mm x 4,5&6 ps1 mm x 7&8 ps2 see?not confusing at all!!!
cool! i hope its easier than 9 though, i liked 9 but it was too hard. It was less fun more of an endurance test. mega man 2 is the most popular mega man game ever (heck look at the Gameinformer top 200 games of all time issue just out last month if you don't take my word for it), and it was also the easiest... coincidence? hardly....
@atlanticrock if we ever got a captain commando follow up i would be as happy as a pig in sh*t!!! @ted if u dont like it dont play it!!retro games are great,it shows not every game has to new and flashy the core gameplay of a mm game still ranks very high!!
@drkill09 i take it you didn't get the joke. you can dress up as mega man in the game. oh, and he fights along side zero in tatsonoko vs. capcom...yeah, he's totally mega man! dead rising was awesome. don't know what you're talking about. wait, haha you said state of emergency and guaranteed to not suck in the same sentence...good one.
As if the series' numbering wasn't confusing enough. @alkaline_DnB Wow, I had to look that up. Could you name a MORE OBSCURE character next time? Ah, Dead Rising, the game released 6 months too early, where the save points never worked, the weapons broke too easily, and the bosses respawned. God I hated that game. It should've been great. State of Emergency + Zombies should've been guaranteed to not suck. Somehow, they found a way to mess it up. Hopefully the second one has a functioning save system. Hell, I'd rather go back to passwords than the unreliable save system it used.
Mega Man is not really my cup of tea. Mega Man 9 and 10 are just more of the same old thing, and same old engine. This is like beating a dead horse, and it is a lazy thing to make money off of retro fanboys. The Mega Man 9 approach, such as NES style, will not work for RPG franchises. I agree with Marcster1994, that I wish they make an HD Mega Man game, but have the sprites proportional. What may have happened with Mega Man 7 and 8, could that they were the same screen resolution, allegedly ruin the games. That did not happen with RPG franchises. Mega Man 11 should be the last 8-bit Mega Man game. The storyline of Mega Man 10 suggests that we may see a game that will tie the Mega Man classic series to the Mega Man X series.
Sheep Man's power must be to make multiple copies of himself and then mega man must not count or he will fall asleep!yawn! oh no now i am yawn... snore....
Thank you Capcom, Super Street Fighter IV & Mega Man 10... All I need now is Resident Evil 6, Dino Crisis 3, and a Captain Commando sequel or the original on XBLA
@-Celeste- I'm never seeing a classic>X transition game, but I really wish they would do an X>Zero transition game. I want to play through the Elf Wars =\
