Collector's edition of Creative Assembly's RTS to come with "making of" documentary, soundtrack, poster, figurine.
SYDNEY--Sega has already offered US strategy gamers a special limited edition Medieval 2 bundle packed with bonus material for the game's launch, but it looks as though it's sweetening the deal even further for Aussie gamers.
Sega and Australian distributor THQ's local Medieval 2 collector's edition pack will include the game, a "making of" DVD, the soundtrack, a Total War figurine, a map of the gameworld, a collector's edition Building Planner poster, and four artcards inspired by the game. US gamers only received the map and soundtrack in their limited edition offering.
The Australian Medieval 2 collector's edition pack will retail for AU$99.95--the same price as the standard version. The collector's edition, however, is only available via preorder from EB Games, Gameswizards, and other selected independent game retailers.
Medieval 2 is being developed by the Creative Assembly and is rated M in Australia.
From what I understand, the CE is in Europe/Australia only, the limited edition is in the US because they didn't want the large box on store shelves. (because of the Ps3 and Wii) I have the CE (I live in Europe), and it's awesome!
reply to :cjcr_alexandru its because the limited version is only going to be released on the first day for people who preordered it. its sopposed to get people to buy the game on the first few days(because of all the free extras inside), instead of passing it up for other popular new realeases. CA's thought is why would some one pass up a limited version of this (for the same price) just to buy gears of war(example, no offense, gear of war rocks!) and then buy this game a week later but that time only the regular edition. thats why its the same price. its smart.....
This game rocks! Got it yesterday, and getting all those extras FREE just shows that CA are trying to give back to their fanbase...its' not a sales gimmick. Make s"RTW" look positively, well, Medieval!
HAHAHAHAH im an Aussie, i preoredered it and to add to the EXCELLENT extras EB gamed released the game almost a week early for us!!!
Good to see the aussies getting something for their late release. I didn't even know the special edition thing was going on, and I preordered from EB already lol
I get that too, and I live in Sweden. Going to pick it up in 3 hours. And don't ask me why, but I pay less than the original version for it.... :D
Creative Assembly was always generous to players, but ... wow! I like the way that they use the collector's editions of a game - making fans of the series buy the game at launch, not when it is discounted. Having said that, I'm saving my full-price money for Okami, Neverwinter Nights 2 and FFXII - games I really can't wait for.
(this happened in the US) i preordered the game yesterday and i asked the clerk if i could reserve the limited edition and he said i have too because hes sold out of reservation for the regular edition, funny thing is that there both the same price, except now ill get more for my buck!! i cant believe how people could miss out on this.
MAN IM SO ANGRY .... NO FIGURINE TO NEVER LOOK AT .... AHHHHH ... i cant believe people still buy those "collectors" editions ... oh well have fun junk collectors ill save 30$ and get teh same gameplay :P
Wow, a Total War with all those extras, might actually be a good reason to venture into an EB, unless I can find it online that is.
