Mechwarrior Online hosting double XP event this weekend

New unit called the spider mech also available on online store.

Players still on the free-to-play action title Mechwarrior Online can look forward to getting more experience points than usual this weekend, according to Piranha Games.

If you like them fast, the spider mech is for you.

Starting from January 18 at 1 p.m. Eastern time until January 21 at 1 p.m. Eastern time, players will be able to earn double XP during online matches against one another. The XP boosts will also stack with other boosts for players with premium accounts.

In addition, developer Piranha Games just released a new spider mech that's available on the in-game online store for purchase. The new mech is the game's most agile and maneuverable among all of the light mech classes in the game.

@Ultra_Taco This is the first time MWO has had a double XP weekend. I guess with the lack of news for the game, editors were looking for any excuse to give it publicity :D

@ShimmeringSword @Ultra_Taco There isnt really much news to be had on it, because it is in full open beta for the public. Most announcements are just for new mechs and updates.

Game is very boring, cant really stand playing it anymore and not going back.  It's a rip off, the amount they want for one damn mech is insulting.  The quality and content in this game is severely lacking.

I'm done waiting for them to finish the game they can take as long as they want not gonna play it.

@davidsworld3 Obviously steady deliberate combat isn't for you, but diss a game when you obviously aren't the type to enjoy it.

Earning mechs is easy as well so your argument is invalid regardless.

Just go play Hawken if you need a super quick pace.

@davidsworld3 A mech can be earned in 1-3 days of play time, much quicker than most F2P games required grind. Is true they're kinda slow with development right now, but I still like it.

@ShimmeringSword @davidsworld3 Yeah, they added a cbill bonus for your first 20 matches, so you can get like 8M in 20 matches, enough to almost get the expensive assault mechs and more than enough to get a heavy mech or lighter.
