Max Payne 3: Local Justice DLC hits consoles July 3

First add-on for Rockstar's shooter hitting Xbox 360 and PS3 next week at temporarily discounted $6 rate, adds three new maps, M4 assault rifle; coming to PC July 17.

The first downloadable content pack for Max Payne 3 will be released next week on consoles, Rockstar announced today. The Local Justice Pack will hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on July 3, with a subsequent release following for the PC on July 17. The DLC packs in three new maps, a new weapon, a new item, a new multiplayer faction, and achievements and trophies.

The three new maps in Max Payne 3's Local Justice DLC are 55th Battalion HQ (playable in all game modes), Imperial Palace, and Departure Lounge, which can be played in the game's deathmatch, team deathmatch, and Payne Killer modes.

Additionally, the Local Justice DLC brings the M4 assault rifle with unspecified attachments, a Light Fingers item for faster looting, and the Sao Paulo Police faction, complete with avatar customization options.

The Local Justice DLC was originally targeted to launch in June, and as an "appreciation of patience," the content will be made available during launch week at a discounted rate of 480 MS points ($6) on Xbox Live and $6 for the PlayStation Network and PC. After this time, the content will return to its normal going rate of 640 MS points ($8) on Xbox Live and $8 on PSN and PC.

The Local Justice Pack--and all other DLC for Max Payne 3--can also be purchased together through the Rockstar Pass program. This pass is currently available for 2400 MS points ($30) on Xbox Live and $30 on PSN and PC.

Rockstar also announced today that on July 3, all preorder and retailer-specific DLC will be made available on Xbox Live and the PSN. The content is also part of the Rockstar Pass and will be available for PC players beginning on July 17. It includes the following:

Cemetery Map: 160 MS points / $2 PSN
Silent Killer Loadout Pack: 160 MS points / $2 PSN
Pill Bottle Item: 80 MS points / $1 PSN
Deadly Force Burst: 80 MS points / $1PSN
Classic Max Payne Character: 80 MS points / $1 PSN

The Local Justice DLC is the first of seven total planned add-on packs for Max Payne 3. Due out sometime this summer will be the Disorganized Crime map pack, the Deathmatch Made in Heaven mode pack, the Hostage Negotiation map pack, and the New York Minute co-op pack. Arriving at to-be-determined dates this fall will be the Painful Memories map pack and the Trickle Down Economics map pack.

Max Payne 3 was released in May to a warm critical reception, shipments of 3 million, and US sales of about 400,000 copies during the month, according to one analyst. For more on the title, check out GameSpot's review.

They need to have the Dead Man Walking mode added in...that was awesome in MP2, I would much rather play that then the broken Multiplayer.

I don't think thats goin to happen, although the first Max Payne was released on PS2 classics on the PS3, no hd remake or trophies but still the great game it was then.

Like it makes a difference. The multiplayer for this game is so broken. Should of gave us co-op instead of bothering with that bullshit.

@Izz_Tip-C MP is not broken but boring I say. It doesn't require any skill like Uncharted 3 or GOW. Just point and shoot, if your internet speed is faster you win. So, it's broken. lol

Not bothering with the multiplayer part of the game. Doesn't feel like a Max Payne game with it. Now if they added an extra Campaign DLC pack then that would be different:)

The multiplayer in this game is absolutely fantastic, and the game launched with a low amount of maps to begin with.. so I'm okay with more levels, especially if they're only $6.. in today's multiplayer DLC era, map packs are anywhere from $10-$15, so this is much better. Hopefully developers follow Rockstar's example.

@buccomatic you need gamefly.  2 game account and I've played through GR:Future Soldier, Max Payne 3, Spec Ops: The Line, all in a month.  I wouldnt have paid $60 for anyone of those games, but $25 to play all through three is just fine by me.  I play every single game I want to and never have buyers remorse.  Certain games I buy, mostly large rpg's (the Skyrims, Fallouts, ect..) or multiplayer-centric(i.e. BF3, CoD).  For the most part I've played almost every major AAA game out there in the last 3 years.  Thta would be thousands of dollars worth, including trading them in and what not.  I've only spent a few hundred dollars through gamefly.

Companies these days: "We're planning on releasing tons of multiplayer dlc for our great singleplayer games!"

I'd rather wish they would fix the PC multiplayer first before releasing more MP stuff.

Bring us back to the snowy dark backalleys of New York and let us kill some more wiseguys in singleplayer. That is a DLC more of my liking.

Having a single player DLC would be cool too. You know like playing in good old MP1/2 maps or playing the game as Mona Sax character.

@shayan_47 Nope that would be too easy and appease too many people, "lets JUST make multi-player maps like MW"... pretty much canceling my excitement for the other 6 DLC's...I will try to have faith

The discounted price is why I love R*. In a time of really poor fan service they continue to set the quality standards bar that other publishers should be taking note of. Since I love the game I'll probably be buying this.

@DarthLod I only like singleplayer DLC if a game is open world or the content is at full-blown expansion pack size. Otherwise, I think it just takes away from the original experience. As for multiplayer DLC, who cares? You don't have to buy it. People just love to cry the moment they see those three letters. DLC is one of the great things that the dawn of the Internet Age brought to gaming. There are instances where it's bad (like Capcom locking content in their fighters or Activision overpricing COD maps), but 9 times out of 10, DLC is either good or just non-offensive.

Hey Brokestar, there really is no reason to delay the PC DLC since the game is out already. Or do you think that those who did not purchase the game yet will decide to buy the console version of the game instead of stealing the PC version just because of early console multiplayer DLC at this point?

Stoopid_Fool
Stoopid_Fool

 @PeterDuck

Brokestar?  Yeah the developer of the GTA series, Red Dead, and L.A. Noire is definitely broke that's why they have 5 games in developement.  If you're goin to try to bash a good game studio at least come up with a good insult.

yeah, why not?

If they are afraid of losing money every time they postpone a PC release of one of their game (or never releasing it on PC for that matter) then they must either be too greedy or afraid to go broke for some reason.

The campaign was great, but I don't even play online cuz of cheaters on the PC version. I'm waiting for the co-op pack so I can play with people I know aren't cheating.

i really hate so called "DLC" thats just map packs and online game stuff. if it give's you more story or adds to the story and so on OFFLINE then i wellcome it but other wise its just a few megabites of crap that cost more than it dose to make in a few moments.

hockeybub89
hockeybub89

@whitejackel It is additional content that is downloaded, thus it is DLC. I love singleplayer as much as the next guy, but I am sick and tired of the crying over DLC and acting like multiplayer doesn't count.
