This makes me wonder if their budget will be lost like all other game related movies. I remember something a few years back about a BioShock movie being set to be released but after their budget cuts I was extremely disappointed .
Mass Effect movie loses Thor writer
Upcoming film based on BioWare's space RPG marches on, but without Mark Protosevich; new screenplay to be written by Rescue Me assistant editor.
Legendary Entertainment is continuing work on the Mass Effect film, but Thor and I Am Legend screenplay writer Mark Protosevich is no longer attached. Variety reports that Protosevich has been replaced by newcomer Morgan Davis Foehl.
Foehl has never had a script produced, but did serve as assistant editor on FX television show Rescue Me, as well as Adam Sandler comedies I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and Click.
According to the report, producers at Legendary Entertainment were drawn to Foehl because he is a self-admitted Mass Effect fan and has experience writing scripts similar to the general Mass Effect plot.
The Mass Effect film was officially confirmed in 2010. A report from 2011 indicated the movie's narrative would follow the first game in the series, though it is not clear if that remains the intention. No director has been named for the film nor any actors. It is also uncertain if Commander Shepard will be played by a male or female actor.
