Mass Effect 4 in 2014 or 2015 - Report

too much bitching about the ending/dialogues and 'selling out to ea' things. oh the youth. if the ending were different, the average happy one, the same ppl would complain about how generic it was, because they sold out to EA the same.

Yeah too many games have a predictable final boss fight, like the previous two Mass Effects for example...Genius!

I actually liked the ending where every thing in the milky way had a little bit of me in them. What I hated was the actual "End Game" portion where they essentially failed to integrate all my choices into a satisfying gameplay...

Gamers: "EA, you have changed nothing. The Mass Effect legacy will still live on no matter the ending."

2014, in time for the next gen XBox or PS4?

They should make it both as a prequel and a sequel, all in one game. Much like the treatment done to the Back To The Future movies which featured both past and present timelines.  That way, players will be able to have a clear grasp of what happened before Mass Effect 1 (the origin of the Reapers, and so forth) and what happened after Mass Effect 3.

I think the writers of the Mass Effect series are creative enough to be able to pull it off.

Actually, even though that generic ending was sorta ''too generic'' it would have seen somewhat more interesting than a 3-color ending and TIM putting a hole in his head. The ending is basically speech with alot of versatility in the given dialogue choices but still has the same outcome however you apporached it. BioWare Edmonton you blew it. I'm not mad, but just dissapointed. Extended cut gave a bit of life but imagine an extended cut to that ''Too generic boss battle''.

Generic ending was fighting Illusive Man in a boss fight.Instead it became Mass Effect 1's generic ending where Saren argues and/or offs himself in the same way... sans the fight with the boss's "dead" body afterwards.

Bioware utterly blew it.  Of all the people in the game The Illusive Man was the one guy I wanted to fight the most.  Instead we ice him as part of a crappy cutscene, and sometimes he even ends up killing himself.  That's pathetic.

Should have gone with the "generic" end Bioware, you know, instead of the CRAP one.

New Mass Effect 4, now with twice the ending colors!

So they scrapped a possibly interesting boss fight ending and decided on going with a pointless little boy talking crap?

To many "hopes", and very little actually delievered. It seems they still haven't understood that every time they come around with an interview  where they make generic statements like " we did a final boss battle with the  elusive man, but that we scratch it just because we wanted our game to be different" - long time fans will  ear it as an offense. Because at the very least, the fact that they are so easily willing to change something crucial in the story as the ending itself just for the sake of their own  vanity  , shows that for them, pride, personal prizes and  sales numbers, come first than actual art and fan loyalty.

Geez, maybe I should get around to playing the first 3.

I hope they actually put in a good moral choice system this time I.E. having to make tough calls that aren't defined by the bullshit idea of good and evil (or in ME case, angel or dickhead). Ya, good and evil exist but when you make it black and white to the point that it is measurable on a bar than it becomes meaningless. I want to have to make tough calls, something that happened very rarely in ME but when it did it was the best moments the series ever had. So me tip: Look to The Walking Dead (the game). There is no 'good and evil'. There is what you believe is the best choice in a world so cruel and so unfair that there is never a good option. That is a REAL moral choice system, because it is asking what your morals are not if your a good guy or bad one.

"Oooh, this game will come in a year or two says this unconfirmed statement" Who cares? Until you're able to play it, it doesn't matter when it gets released.

Or you know it could have Shepard in it... Oh as a baby straped to your back a la Yoshi Island and he/she would cry and scream "I've lost shields" or or you could be a clone of Shep or Shep could be a clone of you, or the son/daughter/bluberry offspring of the Shepard.

I hear some rumors some time a go, that the full ending of ME 3 supposed to be a dream or something like that. Shepard  loses consciousness in the big explosion, and everything after that is a dream. I never toke that rumors seriously, but if it's a ME 4... that will make sense.

ME4 will be a prequel - way easier to do, the outcomes are known, it's safer and easier and no one will be dismayed at Shepard not being in it. GG

If they do a sequel they will have to decide which way ME3 ended. So two thirds of gamers will feel robbed. Regardless of how the players felt, the three (or later four) endings were actually severely different. Take synthesis for example: a TOTALLY different world would need to be portrayed. Same for the other endings. Reapers destroyed or controlled? It impacts the future immensely. So what then could they do? The impacts of these endings are too big so they can't let us choose which way the story went and they will have to choose for us. Only trouble on that path...

As long as it's the synthesis option, I'm good though :D

"it will be "very respectful" of the franchise's history". they stopped doing that when they made the ending of mass effect 3. i know what you're thinking i'm just another person who won't let it go but i wasn't even that mad that you're choices didn't really affect the end. a good ending should have been foreshadowed or at least not be completely random. the starchild came out of nowhere and explained why the reapers exist in a few minutes while for the last two games they were saying that they're motives were incomprehensible. 

I wouldn't mind taking on the Illusive man as a final boss fight :)

The original ending sounds good. Fighting the illusive man...hell yes!!! I always felt the real protagonist in ME3 was the illusive man. Not the Reapers!!! BioWare should release a patch or update or a DLC fighting the illusive man!!!

I love to imagine a world where BioWare was still a free, independent company instead of being taken over by a sequel-machine generating, hostile mega-corporation.

They said, themselves, that we wouldn't be hearing from them for some time. I don't need bits of inconsequential information. They'll let us know when they're ready to unveil something solid, and I (sorta) have the patience to wait for it. They did so much to make up for what they recognized was a flawed execution, which they didn't even have to do. I'm not saying it was perfect, but Extended Cut put to bed what I needed put to bed. I let go of that silly grudge against BioWare a long time ago. I eagerly await the next entry into what is, still, a brilliant franchise.
