New Leviathan content for space-bound role-playing game coming to Xbox 360, PS3, PC; tells more about Reaper origins.
Mass Effect 3 is getting new single-player downloadable content. Titled Leviathan, the content was announced today at Electronic Arts' Summer Showcase event, and is headed to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. No release date or price was provided.
The content will delve into Reaper history, allowing players to discover more of the ancient species' origins. The Leviathan DLC will also introduce new characters, though they were not specified.

And when it hits at a bargain price in a "complete edition" , I'll care. Such a good game, sad I won't support EA with top dollar prices ever, even if it involves Bioware.
I'm all for it, favorite game series. Why is anyone complaining at all, it's a video game, GTF over it already. Mass Effect 3 was great!
First real singleplayer DLC since the game came out five months ago.
Might as well give it a try, but I am not that awestruck...
*sigh* Mass Effect, I stopped caring so long ago. I haven't even played the EC because I just can't care anymore.
Hey, I'm down with that. I've forgiven Bioware because the Extended Cut was pretty damn good and more than enough of an ending but something I always wanted was learn more about the Reapers. They where always so mysterious, we could only assume why they where some evil bastards who just want to eat us but I thought it was really cool how they where actually trying to preserve genetic life. I mean, yes they are misguided but the Reapers are actually trying to do the right thing (the necessarily evil) which makes them even more interesting force. I hope they give them some cool backstory, hell it would be awesome if they actually made a DLC where you played a character from millions of years ago during the first Reaper invasion on its creators (but I wouldn't bet on it).
if it wasn't for multiplayer I wouldn't play ME3 that much but recently I beat game again and felt the EC did what it needed to do and i like the ending well the destroy ending that is since shepard is shown to be alive with that one...can't wait for this DLC and the weapons one coming out so I can have more firepower to kick reaper ass
Nice to see that they finally bought something for singleplayer campaign. And it's about more history of Reapers. :D
Wow. Now if only I still played EA and Bioware games... too bad I don't. I'm sure it is really enlightening how the evil AI that was sent from the non-AI to protect everyone from the evil AI got started with their extinction bit, but honestly go suck balls Bioware.
@raahsnavj 'Now if only I still played EA and Bioware games... too bad I don't.'
'Now if only I wasn't a petty bitch and wont play a good game by good devs because of a bad publisher... too bad I am.'
@vault-boy snap snap... stop scaring me 'boy'. I really don't expect Bioware and 'good devs' to be in the same sentence much longer without sarcasm or 'use to be' also being a part of it.
After screwing up KOTOR, Dragon Age and their broken Codex, and the failure of DA 2, taking ME 2 and 'fixing everything wrong with ME' being nothing more than throwing it all out the airlock while introducing basic mistakes like 'cooling clip hunting' after every battle and the dumbest end boss seen in AAA gaming in some time I really didn't see much value in ME3 or Bioware.
They appeal to the masses, to the people that are easily won over with advertising dollars. They really don't have much value beyond the sucker these days.
~shrug~ I don't particularly think I'm going to worry about it unless they have a GOTY version on Steam or something. I haven't been able to bring myself to play the series again after I went through the ending of Mass Effect 3 to even see the extended version. This is a game I had 300 (180 hours on Mass Effect, and 120 on Mass Effect 2) hours on before Mass Effect 3 ever came out (which added another 50 hours). Then add another 40 to 50 hours from Mass Effect 3, which was a huge mess in the last 10 minutes. So, I'm pretty sure I'm not too excited about this.
Good to hear we will get more info on the reapers origins. The main thing I was hoping ME3 would explain was who made the reapers and why. I don't count the catalyst as a valid answer and the reason he gave as to why they were made wasn't really an answer to me.
... after reading the comments, I assume I'm the only one who was satisfied with the extended cut and am looking forward to this DLC. I hated the ending just as much as most people, since it deliberately went against EVERYTHING the series stood for, and was the complete OPPOSITE of what the lead developer promised us. BUT, the EC ending gave me some closure, fixed MANY of the major plot holes (And even changed certain scenarios ending differently), showed us how SOME (Not all) of our choices held impact, properly showed the importance of Shepard's sacrifice depending on which ending (One of the more emotional moments in the series) and improved a bit on the circular, broken logic it held prior. They clearly know they screwed up and have paid for it. Had the EC been the original ending, people wouldn't have had NEARLY the fuss. Yes, there are still many problems, such as the stupid still images (even though some actual cutscenes were added), the middle finger 4th ending, and that there is still essentially no impact from the War Assets. Will everybody be satisfied? No. Will some people think it's worse? Yes. Should Bioware be completely forgiven? Not by my standards. BUT, is it an improvement? Of course it is. Despite how people feel, the new ending is 1000x better, despite negative feed back that the incredibly intelligent, well thought out, and provable Indoctrination theory is now not true.
I feel your pain people, but disappointments are common in media of ANY kind. I hate Godfather III, despite how many people love it, and I hate Diablo III (A way bigger disappointment than ME3, imo), yet people are willing to put up with it's awful story, lack of innovation from Diablo II, forced internet access and it's unbalanced and broken pay to win aspects. Did I hear a fuss over that? Nope, dead silence. When actual improvement is shown, you ignore it, but when clear signs of bulls*** ruins a game that took a decade to make, you praise it and call it gold. I will never understand the internet.
@dxBIGBOSSxbthis guy is right i jumped back into the campaign to beat it on insanity and experienced the EC and am now satisfied with ME3...can't wait for leviathin....hopefully it has cool effects on the story although not the ending but it will be a hell of a lotta fun to play
@dxBIGBOSSxb I hate DIABLO III too but i don't expect much from this series so i don't complain or cry or give a shit . But for Mass Effect series i worshipped it , it likes my salvation or my precious one (LOTR any body?) or my...my....everything..... so when it fails to deliver i cry/complain/angry/desperate.So in my opinion so many people in the internet complain about the ending or this game is because they LOVE it VERY MUCH even they do not want to admit it or they do not realize it.
@dxBIGBOSSxb It felt acceptable to me. Like the thirst was quenched with a drink you didn't want but still felt good at the end. Was it great? No, but it felt much better and the impact it provided was much better than it should have originally.
@dxBIGBOSSxb I liked the ending, I did not see the original, but the EC was good for me. And I look forward for this DLC, more story is always good. Yeah we know the ending, but for me it is the journey that matters, so in the end if this DLC does not add anything else to the ending, I am fine with it.
@RogerioFM So when you courting a girl (if u r single) and spend a lots of money and times for dates and stuff for her , it doesn't matter if in the end she will not be your girl friend and not having sex with you?(well you know it,s about the journey that matters). Huhh you are a nice guy mister....
@oldschoolvandal Don't give up yet. 5 years and 3 games isn't enough for someone to abandon a franchise. Halo has been around 11 years and it's only had 6 REAL games (Yet by everyone's standards it's milked to hell... no it's not). If it was as bad as CoD, which has over a dozen games and hasn't even been around for 10 years yet, THEN you can give up all you want, but what most people forget is that Mass Effect is still just barely starting out.
@dxBIGBOSSxb I'm with you there , mass effect 3 has ruin my experience for me , i don't care what people say about the journey because the last 5 minutes make me puck . But i still don't give up with mass effect universe it still has a lot of potential . I hope BW don'y make another mistake with ME4....(hoping & praying)

No amount of free content can change how lame reapers seemed after that ending. Bioware is hurting on all fronts, but they brought it on themselves. If you make intelligent games you will have intelligent fan-base and if you try to shaft them they will call you on it. Honestly the amount of fightback that ME3 fans showed during all this made me proud. For once the little guy brought the giant to it knees. Just like many I am sad that it came to this with Bioware, but as I already said they brought it on themselves.
Guys the game isn't finished yet, i didnt like the second game compared to the first with out the extra dlc content. Its a shame that games no longer come complete but this is the price gamers pay for used game sales and pirated copies. I mean the shadow broker dlc, and the reaper invasion dlc were epic and added to the game and made me wish it had been there in my first play through. I cant imagine ME2 with out these molments now. I belive people are to harsh on ME3 because they have yet to play the complete package. I think ME3 base game was a little weak it felt more constricted and confined, but that also fit well with the story. Wait to completely judge the game untill its completed. The mass effect series is just getting started, and ask yourself wich is a more powerfull motivation, fan redemption or keeping up with past games. Honestly it dosent matter because bioware is going to be feeling both, which i belive could deliver a stuning depiction/hashing out of an already amazing series
@Redbeardarg And this is the very reason I won't play it. Without the DLC it isn't complete. And this is coming from EA as a publisher. Chances of you getting to play the whole game will eventually go to zero as they turn off their DLC servers and make the "full" game unavailable to people.
Who knows, maybe they will try to milk it and rerelease the game series every decade or something. When they do, maybe I'll pick it all up for $20. Chances are pretty small though seeming I don't buy EA or Bioware games anymore.
Although I am againt DLCs in general, I can't say I agree with you. ME games all seemed pretty complete to me, and their DLCs just added more flavour to a complete meal. Maybe people did not like the original ending of ME 3, since I only finished the game when the extended cut was already in place, maybe I am not biased by a former crappy ending, but I liked what I got. Javik was the only DLC which I believe should come with the game, but other than that, anything new is a plus in a already complete experience.
finally a more answers to the origins of the reapers, they totally forget to explain their origins in ME3.
@drsw36 I approve this message. The last thing I want is more from EA and Bioware. See even the fans want the games to stop. Please give it to all of us.
People that don't play piles of trash.
@drsw36 you are the moron and you are indocrinated
@drsw36 When did Bioware start giving in?
@LesserAngel Giving in to the fans's demands.
@bobbo888 So bioware flat out lies to us and we can't be angry? If I am told my choices are going to greatly matter by the third game then I either expect that to happen or the bioware to man up and atleast admit that they either don't have the technology to do what they promised or just come out and say they can't, but not try and BS me like they did.
@bobbo888 I'm glad that you're willing to settle for subpar.
@LesserAngel @cdog21 you guys are making me sick. To be honest I didn't even know there was such a huge problem with the ending until like 2 weeks after I beat it and read it on this website. Nerds will complain about ANYTHING. Nobody got "shafted." cdog21, you complain like you were in a relationship with bioware. It's a video game. Lesserangel needs everything to be perfect, you guys are like a bunch of women. Bioware definitely made a great trilogy, and the last mass effect was definitely the best mass effect. You guys are acting like it was the worst game you've ever played. I really hate the video game community sometimes, it makes me sad for where the human race is going. Bioware, thumbs up to all your work. Forget the haters, you don't have to do ANYTHING for them, because they're gonna complain no matter how much free content you give them.
@LesserAngel Yeah I know. Espetially if its an RPG people will focus more on story. I do see your point.
@drsw36 Aside from the ending, I thought the game was, Ok, not good, not bad, but Ok. Compared to the first two games it was extremely linear and there were too damn many fetch quests. The combat was nice though. In anycase, when it comes to video games, like any other media, you have to look at the whole package, and if there's one major weakness, then it's going to show, a lot. For example, a movie can have amazing special effects, but a really, REALLY crappy story line, people are going to focus more on the story line.
@LesserAngel I just think its a shame that such a good game(aside from the ending) as to be hatred like this.
@drsw36 It's hard to let go when you get shafted by someone you trusted.
@drsw36 Someone has to let Bioware know they screwed up, it's not like the 'professional' game journalists are going to.
@LesserAngel Its still cost them money to do those stuff and they get nothing for it. Maintaning multiplayer must cost money.
Anyway, I understand why fans are angry but do you guys need to get angry everytime Bioware release something about Mass Effect 3? That's stupid and immature. Aside for the ending ME3 is actually a good game.
People should move on.
@drsw36 The extended cut was just a bunch of still images and a 4th option that was essentially a big middle finger to the fans that didn't like the ending, as for the multiplayer DLC, that was quite possibly planned to be free from the beginning. I mean, they're getting their money with those stupid spectre packs, they didn't need to charge for the multiplayer DLC.
@LesserAngel Minimum? They did an Extended cut for free and added free DLCs. They lost a lot of money doing that.
That's what I meant. Fans don't realize the sacrifice and just keep on whining.
@drsw36 Like I said, when? All they've been doing is dodging the issue and doing the absolute minimum to fix the problems of the majority of the fans just so they can say they did something.
