Marvel Heroes launching June 4

Free-to-play MMO action role-playing game launches on PC this June.

The free-to-play massively multiplayer online action role-playing game Marvel Heroes will launch for the PC on June 4, publisher Gazillion Entertainment has announced.

The game, which is currently in closed beta, will launch later in the year for the Mac. An exact date was not specified.

Marvel Heroes Founders Program customers will receive access to the game one week earlier, on May 28. The Founders Program allows immediate access to the closed beta and requires customers to purchase various packs that include combinations of Iron Man, Deadpool, Wolverine, Human Torch, Spider-Man, Ms Marvel, Thor, Captain America, Cable, Cyclops, Black Panther, Colossus, Jean Grey, Hulk, and The Punisher.

Rocket Raccoon is also available for purchase. Prices start at £12.99/$19.99/€15.99.

Marvel Heroes developer Gazillion Entertainment is the new studio helmed by Diablo and Diablo II co-creator David Brevik.

So this is David Brevik's new Diablo clone, what a pathetic piece of trash. Hopefully for him no one remembers Hellgate London and the lifetime subscription fiasco, I wonder how many founder packs they have sold for this uninspired turd. It looks so easy they just slap MARVEL on a turd and the money rolls in.

You can pre-order the ultimate pack on steam for $199. What a joke I will be passing on this game.

I loved the Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Legends games, I also loved Diablo 2.  I was lucky enough to try the beta tonight and the game looks like it's shaping up to be a dream come true.

There's an open beta starting Friday night 5/10 at 8 e.t. and going on all weekend, try it out, it is free afterall.  And from what I see of the cash shop, it is not pay-to-win at all,

It's too bad that we won't be able to play with some of the villains like Doc Oc or Doctor Doom and my personal favorite - Venom, but it's called "Marvel Heroes" for a reason.

@cpinheiro2 The first sentence says "The Free-to-play".  Did you read it?

@paulsifer42 @cpinheiro2 Yes, i did read the term "requires purchase". "The Founders Program allows immediate access to the closed beta and requires customers to purchase various packs that include combinations of Iron Man, Deadpool, Wolverine, Human Torch, Spider-Man, Ms Marvel, Thor, Captain America, Cable, Cyclops, Black Panther, Colossus, Jean Grey, Hulk, and The Punisher"

@geojf3 @paulsifer42 @cpinheiro2 I understand you can't play your favorite hero for free. You will have a choice between 5 heroes from start. They are: The Thing, Daredevil, Scarlet Witch, Storm, and hawkeye. These are free. Others you can get ingame as drops. So you don't have to pay for anything if you don't want! But if you like the game than you can support the developer and buy your favorite hero and level him from the start. I speculate since starter pack was 20$ including two costumes and some ingame money a hero when game releases will probably cost less than 10$. So is 10$ a worthy price to play the game you like with the hero you like? I think it's very cheap for such a great game. I play beta and i tryed Iron Man, Thor, Storm, Daredevil and Scarlet witch. My friend never ''played diablo like games'' he purchased (with beta free points) hulk and he loves it.

@paulsifer42 @cpinheiro2   It is free to play.  If you want certain characters then you buy them  - but there are many characters to choose from without paying anything.

@cpinheiro2 @paulsifer42 I thought that meant "if you want to play any other character than what the game allows you to play for free."  I suppose I could be wrong.

Wait... did I read this right? Do you have to pay for the ability to play a BETA!?

@gamerboy100  You dont have to pay but for those who don't want to rely on luck getting into the beta they can buy one of the founder packs.

@megakick As far as i'm concerned it's ways better than Diablo 3. And less than 10$ for your favorite hero is still better than 60$ for blizzard money grabbing real auction house shit.

Bad way of taking the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games forward.

This game's $200 microtransaction is still laughable.

This game just implemented the worst microtranscation system ever, you cant even get the heroes you want unless you pseudo preorder them, otherwise you only can buy tokens that give you a random hero, worst, having a hero increase the chances of duplicates so you can user them as power ups, but the only thing this does is making it even harder to get new heroes.

Anybody interested in this game can buy my old version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance for 10 bucks. You'll be getting twice the game for half the cost.

@genom85 I've been thinking the same thing. It looks really terrible for a current generation title.
