Madden NFL 10: Did EA Inadvertently Announce Online Franchise?

And while that's news by itself, a phrase mentioned by senior designer Ian Cummings during the video drops a tantalizing hint as what's yet to come in Madden 10. Here's the relevant quote from the video:
"[Online co-op] might attract a lot of different people to try out online who maybe they'll go try out online franchise after that."

This is pretty interesting. I was considering not buying Madden this year because I thought there wouldn't be enough changes from the previous year. But after seeing this I'll probably continue buying it.

"meh, co-op is much better suited for basketball and hockey than football imo. The online franchise could be cool though..." agreed. especially if they decide to move the be a pro mode online like in the NHL series, i mean seriously, who is going to want to play as a center or linebacker when running backs, wideouts and quarterbacks get all the love. the only way this could work is if it were a 2 vs 2 online mode, but that in itself doesn't sound interesting at all. online franchise, on the other hand, is one of those things people have been asking for for years now, and its pretty ridiculous they FINALLY implemented it in 2010. i can see this mode being as big as fantasy football among people, if you and your buds pitch in $20-30 each and everyone picks a team, you are in for a good time if you take that pot.

basketball (hint hint EA) also be great for co-op as well for online play
i just thought i'd throw out the baseball idea just for an example of the co-op not being a good idea if anyone wondered why was baseball brought up
ocdog45 i thought there would be more people into the idea of co-op play....it only makes sense... football is perfect for that..to have a buddy (or some--if it would allow more than two guys play online from one system) play on the same team against online opponents will be an awesome addition just you wait and see once it launches! i love baseball but its not meant for co-op play if mlb the show or 2k sports rolled out an idea like this i don't see it working for that sport (as much as i love baseball i just don't see it happening where it would be successful)
I don't care about online Franchise.. don't have the time for the offline Franchise. But the online co-op stuff sounds cool. I'm into playing as teammates with a friend online. That could be pretty killer as long as this mode doesn't just open up more glitches for cheesers to exploit.
is it 4 player coop just playing normal because that would be crazy like in old maddens for playstation 2
wow this dude seriously just said its the worst thing...why would you think that...i cant wait to play on the same team as my buddy and all that good stuff
@ocdog45 "This is the worst thing to ever be added to madden IMO." Fine. don't play that OPTION....
I buy Madden every year. I would love to see a good co-op feature in Madden. I remember back when you could have even more that two players on a team. I wish that you could change you who calls the plays though like in the 2k games. There are more people than you would think that would like to see better co-op.
adding an option that few play doesn't make a game better. hardcore fans DON'T PLAY and mode except francise or ranked games or tournament rules games.
ocdog45 i don't share that opinion i was just playing this past years madden the day of the SuperBowl with a friend of mine and we wanted to try and play together online as a team and had no idea that it wasn't possible to do so until we tried and i was wondering at the time why wouldn't that be possible. well now it is so i think it will definitely take off..i've been to hardcore fans of the game house and we played multiple players all the time and this will be a great addition now if it would only allow more than two people to play online from the same console that would be great. this won't make me buy the game by any means...im more concerned about the multiple camera angles b/c frankly i care more about tv style presentation. i haven't bought a madden game since 2004 b/c they havent changed the camera angles for the next gen systems...don't know why they would remove it even if it wasn't being used it was still an option for us guys that would prefer the side to side presentation of tv as opposed to one boring camera angle!
This is the worst thing to ever be added to madden IMO.
