Looks like I'll be picking this up in June. I didn't buy the second game but I have the first and it was pretty good (even if I never finished it). I guess it's time I fired it up again!
Lost Planet 3 gets June release date

Capcom releases new trailer for Lost Planet 3 alongside announcement of release date.
Chilly third-person adventure Lost Planet 3 will be released on June 25 in North America, publisher Capcom has announced.
Europe will see the game on June 28.
Lost Planet 3 will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Unlike its predecessors, the game is being developed by Californian developer Spark Unlimited as opposed to internally at Capcom Japan.
Capcom has also released a new trailer to mark the occasion, showing off new protagonist Jim Peyton and shady company NEVEC's first attempt to colonise E.D.N. III.

People shouldn't really judge before the game comes out. I loved 1, sketchy about part 2. This one looks like it will play like 1. I am hoping...
not that i dont like the look of this but i think something fresh is needed here, no more snow how about some other interesting planets to explore without the usual insect, yellow and red area's to hit with thermal energy released asa by product. This could be a good series if taken to the next level....

What's the gameplay in Lost Planet like? Ratio of mech piloting to 3rd person shooting? Is it a straight run-and-gun action title, or is there anything else to it? Linear/scripted or exploratory? Any series fans want to catch me up?
@kohle36 It's a straight run-and-gun action game. The first one was okay,had a pretty decent storyline and challenging bosses. You could find mechs once in a while, and take it most of the levels. The second one was crap though,don't bother with it.
2 Like Lost Planet would make for a great anime movie along with Borderlands.
Hope it's better than the second one.
I hope no one is excited for this. We're talking about Spark Unlimited here, an unexperienced developer who Capcom hired for cheap to work on their key franchise. Capcom did the same thing with Resident Evil developed by the notorious Slant Six.
@thetravman Wow. You're not kidding. Average metacritic score of their games is 4.0. These are the guys behind Legendary.
I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but unless they've completely rebuilt their staff I can't in good conscience do that.
Oh so Gears of Lost planet is coming out in June? When is the REAL Lost Planet 3 coming out?
1 Like First game was okay , got a little anime crazy at the end though. Never played the second game they turned it into some boring co-op game with out a story.
This game looks like the first one but with the anime stuff toned down.
1 Like I used to hate Capcom, but Dragon's Dogma changed my mind. I might give this a try.
@dmdavenport Save your money Brother Dragon's Dogma was damn good, but lost planet is not worth 60 bucks. Try the first two before you dig into the 3rd they're cheaper too

I've had my copy prepaid since September, which I will admit was a little early. Still, this is great news.

2 Like whats up with all the hate against Lost Planet 2 :/ it was an awesome game, and it had a ton of mechs and 4 player co-op, I kno wthe story was weird and didnt make much sense at the end but it still was a hell of a fun ride, remember the big boss battles on the turret train and dropping from outer space with the mech on the surface of Eden 3 that was awesome also the gameplay was tweaked and it had tons of character and weapons customization, heck you could eeven fuse 2 mechs into one or launch a thermal nuke, LP2 for the PC is a 8.5/10 game in my books any day
@Printul_Noptii I liked lp2 as well, it had some great mechs and weapons. If they had used traditional 3rd person controls and got rid of those damn nodes as spawn points it would have been a 10.
@Printul_Noptii I enjoyed LP2, though my connection lagged too much to enjoy the competitive online. I'm actually kind of concerned with the direction LP3 is taking.
@LesserAngel @Printul_Noptii I am glad they are taking the story back to its roots and back to what made the first LP great but I am kinda worried about the developer being Spark Unlimited, they have a record of bad games and I hope they won't bury the series after LP2 was kinda bashed by bad reviews.

Allway's been a fan of the Lost Planet serie's (not Lost Planet 2) and am looking forward to Lost planet 3.
@makseffect And all that talent that made those very good games have left and formed Platinum Games.
Also, wasn't Kenji Inafune involve with the first LP?
@makseffect they make fun to play popcorn games which are easy to pick up and play even thou some of them were seriously hardcore like DMC3 or Lost Planet 1 on Extreme mode was pretty brutal especially taking on the bosses with the thermal energy running out fast.

Did they ever finish the story of the first game? I didn't play the second, but it seemed like they didn't continue that story.
@esclavo1 yeah the story was weird in LP2 you played as different factions for example desert pirates, ex-Nevec or snow pirates, basically you fight on all sides of Eden 3 and everyone is uniting in the end for a big boss takedown, I thought it was more about the journey then the end much like Borderlands 1 but it had awesome setpieces and great pace and well 4 player co-op and epic boss battles

And Lost Planet 2 is a BAD-ASS AWESOME game!
If you're not familiar with this series, IGNORE opinions, pick up up a copy, enjoy the masterpiece that is Lost Planet 2, and JUDGE FOR YOURSELF.
It's light on Story (which is what people complain about), but it was geared towards a more casual gameplay experience, and is NUMBER 1 in fun "pick-up-and-play" gameplay. Come into it keeping that in mind, and you'll have a hell of a good time with the 2nd game in this series.
On another note though......yeah....LP3 is gonna SUCK, BIG TIME!
its not like Dead Space I would rather say Dead Space 3 ripped off Lost Planet, the first game was about surviving under extreme cold condition and blowing away creatures on foot or in mechs it had a pretty awesome concept and great visuals as well as fun gameplay. Dead Space on the other hand the first game was all about horror, the second game was horror, mixed with psychological elements and the third game is seriously run and gun co-op with a lot of weapon customization and a weird story :/ The only thing Lost Planet 1 and Dead Space 3 have in common is its third person playstyle and of course the Ice planet setting other than that its like apples and pears, cheers
please, please, please spark dont mess this up your previous games turning point and legendary were horrid :| I love the first Lost Planet and I even liked the second game I thought it looked and played awesome but I am a lil bit worried about the third game I hope it wont kill the franchise
If it doesn't have the same co-op elements as Lost Planet 2, then I will not be purchasing this.
Just more of the same. Had enough of killing aliens and zombies (agree with Kojima)...pass.
