Little Big Planet leads PlayStation Plus benefits

@RageSet Unless Sony starts using the money they charge for PS Plus to better the online gaming services of the PSN, than they will NEVER beging to pull people away from XBox Live. I have both systems, and am a Gold Subscriber AND a PS Plus subscriber. XBox Live is doing so well because their online gaming system is hundreds of time better than the often laggy/slow services PSN provides. Just saying that if Sony intends on luring people away from the XBox, they will need to completely overhaul the PSN to be less buggy and laggy.

@im-a-roustabout PS Plus is still nothing like XBL, for all intents and purposes, PS Plus is a discount/rental service. It is NOTHING like XBL. My reasoning behind my assertion is that one day Sony may incorporate new community aspects and other premium functionality into PS Plus, rivaling XBL because regardless of whether you have PS Plus or not, you can still play online games for free. Get it? Do you need me to break it down further?

@RageSet Your logic does not make sense. Microsoft is currently doing just fine with its pay-to-play service against Sony's free services. Why would Sony making you pay for extended service mean that Microsoft would suffer?

@atopp399 Trust me dude, you'd have to look very darn hard to find a PS3 gamer or 360 gamer who are "praising" motion controls. Most of us just see it as a gimmick to help divert some of the cash away from Ninty.

This seems iffy if you ask me. The content they give to consumers needs to be wanted. Most of what they are offering, to me at least, is rubbish. Zen pin ball? I think I'll pass.

i'm still PISSED that LBP is only for EU and we all can't "be the same" as one company instead they have to spread different retarded methods around and the US gets the crap end of the deal. But I do admit i'm glad EU is atleast getting something nice for once.

Seems like this might evolve a good deal as they gauge people's interest in different features. So I expect it to change significantly within the first year or so, and I'm just going to be watching from the sidelines until I see something really compelling.

The more research I do on PS Plus, the more I realize Sony is heading towards a paid online service like XBL minus having to pay for the actual online play. It's smart business, borrow most of the features from XBL and charge for them but keep online play for free. This way they can still say, we offer free online play plus we have a better "subscriber" package than Microsoft (free games, discounts and etc). If this goes forward and is successful, Microsoft will be forced to offer basic online play to all XBL Silver Members or risk losing them to Sony. Right now, Microsoft is still in the lead in terms of overall features/functionality with XBL, but this is the first time I think Sony is a serious threat to MS's online services. (Note: To be fair to Microsoft and XBL, if you are a Gold Subscriber, you do get discounts on some arcade games/full games/DLC each week.)

@dRuGGeRnaUt MS has to step up XBL? Lol, I have a 360, PS3 and in 3 days (my birthday) a Wii as well. XBL is the best online experience you can get, no contest. It's the exact same as PSN except you have cross-game chat which has to be the most important component for gaming..talking! I just invite my friends to chat even though they're playing something else, it's more sociable and you're more connected. A couple free items for paying for PSN+ is dumb. It's basically like Napster, you can get the free stuff and buy things for less, etc but as soon as you stop paying for your subscription...bu-bye 3/4 of the stuff you got for free.

I am not sold on this yet. A free LBP game is great however we already own it. How about free downloads of LBP costumes & levels? @ least 50% off would be nice.

While I am tempted to go Plus, if there is no Cross Game Chat, then it is looking like a no go for me. Xbox Live has CGC even with the useless Silver membership and Xbox Live is far more competitive than PSN. I'll probably get a 3 month card to tread the waters, but if I am going to shell out $100 bucks a year for both XBL and PSN+ I want to get more than just free demos and stuff. XBL has little things like community playdates, extra XP days, bonus offers (like the Gold for $1) and etc. PSN is just there for the ride. Hopefully this will get rid of PSN's stigma as the poor mans XBL. Remember kids, there is a reason MLG won't touch the PS3 with a ten foot pole. And that reason is Xbox Live. :(

WOW MS and Xboxlive are really gonna have to step it up now. Back in the begining days of Xbox360 they gave away free arcade games quite often, usually only for a few hours around release(2am, PST). I have 9 games i have downloaded for free from xboxlive, but it`s been at least 3 years since the last one.. the did give ONE free theme away though!!! hahaha XD

What is with sony showing EVERYONE else love but NA?? I mean first PSP go people overseas get 10 games we get 3. Now this, but this is major, LBP is an amazing game. I really don't know what sony problem is, but they seem to not like giving anything equally.. .. at least MS is from NA and we seem to get there love.. but most of the rest of the the world doesnt.. Can't win i guess :)

Dude those things are tanks. I got mine about a week after the release of the PS3 (didn't feel like fighting the lines on the day one release). Got up early the next week and got it from the local target. Again I put in a TON of hrs on it, left it on to let it put itself to sleep to many times to count. Only issue I ever had before the YLOD was it would freeze maybe 1/2 times per month while playing K2 multiplayer (which was a game issue I believe). I'm an RPG and FPS player so your talking 2 mp accounts filled on K2 4th level prstige on WaW, MW2 7th prestige, FFXIII RDR....... again to many games to count. Im sure mine just died from normal wear and tear. I took it apart once I got my new one so its in pieces at this point so I could see how it ticks. I'm not into soldering so I doubt I can get it up and running again as cleaning it DID NOT get it working. Find out how many hrs he put into it. Open it and use a can of air to clean it out. I'm sure it will run fine if he didn't put many hrs on it.

kinda disappointed bc europe gets all the good stuff while US doesnt get much love here =(

Sony has a business plan. Start Ps Plus off with very basics and see if the rewards are worth it to gamers. Then, pull more gamers into the service by adding the things we've been clamoring for years, like cross-game chat and such. I'm almost certain that Sony is already building these features and may even have some nearly ready to launch. The thing is... you have to have something to look forward to and to keep the hype going. So they hold back features so that it appears to the consumers that the service is constantly growing. Whether you agree with this plan of action or not, it works for many companies. I don't know if that's what Sony is really doing, but their past trends appear to point in that direction.

@1995 We would all love to see some ps2 titles finally, but the only problem is, is Sony is still making tons of sales on PS2s worldwide. So I can't say we'll be seeing them anytime soon. I mean they are still (slowly) working on getting popular PSone classics to us. It's a shame really.

Well I'm still glad Sony isn't mandating a payment. If they wanna sell us with old (but still great) titles or pseudo-freebies like PS1 games, they could still do a lot worse. So long as they know what we don't want (another paid model like XBL), then I can't find cause for complaint. In fact, so long as anyone is *giving* us something, I think it's kind of petulant to complain.

That looks like a seriously bad deal. Like Jstur14 said I dont see the point of this. I think this is what Sony was talking about a few months back when they wanted to charge people for demos.

how about sony focuses on making ps2 games available on ps store?or even making it a feature exclusive to premium subscribers,and that would be an excellent reason to subscribe.

I don't overall see the point of this, it adds no new features (Like being able to talk to friends with voice chat cross game) and all you are is spending money on games that you didn't choose... Wouldn't it just be better to spend the 50 bucks on a game you actually want?

I have no interest in Qore, already plat'ed inFamous, but I have been looking to purchase Wipeout HD. But Sony's going to have to step up the US features before I subscribe. Wow I'd love to get my hands on a European subscription though. I also remember reading an article when this "Plus" subscription was in the works, Sony was considering stuff like cloud storage, cross game chat. What happened to those?

Not gonna complain as I put in more hrs than I wish to admit on K2, WaW, MW2 RDR, Demon Souls, (I can go on 4ver) and the old girl served me well and now I got a 250 slim (w uncharted2). But back on topic I'll wait until I see something that appeals to decide whether or not to go +. that is the grat thing about the PSN, those who choose not to do not lose anything.

The same people bashing Xbox's fee are in love with Sony now. It is funny. I own neither system but think it is really funny to see people back and forth in the various threads. The same with motion controls. Everyone hates on Nintendo for a few years and now they praise motion controls.

comparing what you get in this, combined with the stuff u get free on psn anyway makes live look like even more of a ripp off - xboxlive allows u to play games and download games earlier, whereas for a similar annual price u get to play online AND get a load of free games/dlc...

Europeans certainly get a better deal. Wonder what their marketing info showed that made them decide on that. I really hope its not something like everyone who showed interest already has LBP so lets make it look like a good deal when it wont cost us anything.

Online MP will remain free and will always be free. Sony already stated thats its goin remain free. Im not shelling out $50 bucks a year just to get a couple free games and early access to demos. The reason i switched to PS3 was that Online MP was FREE. I feel sorry for everybody who is buying into this Playstation Plus. Think about this MP is already free and you are paying Sony just to have a couple Free games and early access to Demoes is it really worth it? I think not.

Some of y'all are really into bashing this almost like Sony is taking away ur free play. I for one will be getting this I mean Qore is $25+ a year anyway and that a great thing. It alone has awesome insides to new games and free dl stuff. So all that other stuff is a great deal. I mean come on its what 55 a year. Wipeout HD is 10-20 by it self. This deal is way to good to pass up. Imagine. Dlc for new games coming out and getting free while most have to pay full price. I down for that.

you can still play games online for free and you have all the same access to the same features youve always had if you decide not to go with playstation plus so whats the problem? yes this might change over time but for now you can play online for free unlike LIVE which you have to pay to even play games online. i have xbox live and personally i think its a rip off. i think its worth maybe 25 dollars a year since most of it is advertising for microsoft. yea they mention things that are going to be released for the 360 but in the end its advertising for microsoft. dont get me wrong LIVE has some really cool features (i wouldnt pay for it if i didnt) but i just think a lot of it is advertising. think about it this way ALL of us are getting a free trial of playstation plus for 3 MONTHS. some of use are looking forward to this because we want all those features that come with playstation plus and some of us arent. either way you can (for the moment) be happy that you can still have acess to the same things youve had without paying. no ones being forced to pay and sonys even giving us a free 3 month trial to see if we like it for those of us on the fence. so in the end stop whining about europeans getting access to features for the most part that we as americans take for granted and stop whining about something your not being force to pay for.

seriously some of you really need to shutup your making us look like whiners. we all know that europe and other countries usually get the shaft when it comes to games, movies and other forms of entertainment. this hardly ever happens so im glad whenever europe or other countries get the feeling that most of us americans take for granted. sometimes europe has to wait longer than anyone should for certain games to be released. you know the better sony does worldwide the better off all us PS3 owners are going to be. do some of you not understand that the better sony does the better the PS3 does which means we benefit since we bought the console. also quit the damn whining about playstation plus LOTS of people wanted a pay version of the PSN and thats why playstation plus came about.

interesting deal, I'm not going to do it personally because i really don't do DLC, and i dont think i should have to pay to play a $60 game online. thats why i did not get an XBOX360. nice to see Europe get some better stuff, but i would rather everyone gets things at the same rate, but the world cant be perfect. enjoy LBP!!!!!!!!!!

The hell are you people whining about? You get free online play, as well as a free internet browser and PSN store. Then, if you feel like getting more stuff like a great FREE game, you can subscribe to PS+. It's basically a win/win situation, yet you people feel the need to whine about it. Personally, I have yet to buy LBP, so this is very tempting to me. I only have to subscribe one single month to get it right? I don't plan on using PS+, but I really do not see what people are complaining about. @ali-009 Some Blu-ray movies actually allows you to watch movies online with your friends, and chatting with them via headset at the same time.
