Limbo on PS Vita supports cross-buy

Playdead's puzzle platformer now available for PS Vita; $15 purchase gets gamers portable and PlayStation 3 versions.

Limbo for the PlayStation Vita supports Sony's cross-buy system, developer Playdead announced today. The game is available now in the United States on PlayStation Network for $15.

Limbo launches tomorrow in Europe on PSN for €12.99/£9.99.

Through the cross-buy promotion, gamers who purchase the PS Vita version will also receive the PlayStation 3 version at no extra cost. Limbo originally came to PS3 in 2011.

The game is a collaboration between Playdead and Double Eleven, which co-developed Little Big Planet for the PS Vita.

According to Playdead CEO Dino Patti, the teams have been working hard to adapt the game for the PS Vita "without compromising the experience."

Limbo puts players in the shoes of a small child who must find his way through a black-and-white world filled with puzzles and dangerous, often deadly, obstacles.

The game won critical acclaim upon release, which was followed by a small avalanche of award nominations that yielded multiple Interactive Achievement Awards and a Game Developers Choice Award.

wow, so I DO get it for free on PS Vita since I already have it on PS3 (per the PSN store).  ...now just to get that PS Vita...

FYI Playdead contacted PlayStation Lifestyle and it was confirmed cross buy works both ways for Limbo. So if you already own the PS3 version, you get the Vita version for free.

@da_chub   i was wondering about the same thing.. i bought it off PSN.. and if they want it to support cross play, maybe they should make the game available to PS Vita owners if they have bought the PS3 version.

The cross play feature in Sony's games is really cool.

This game is a masterpiece! One of the best XBLA games I've ever played; top 3 easily. All PS3 owners should get this one.

I'm new to the Playstation - is this common with Sony?  Seems very cool of them to offer this kind of a deal.

Not exactly the kind of deal MS would have offered me.

@IndremaLover discounts , free games , crossbuys  is just another average things that happen on playstation , they already doing this since mid 2012.

@IndremaLover It's not uncommon. a few other games they have done this with are Playstation all stars, ratchet and clank full frontal assault, guacamelee!, and sound shapes.

@samarjanka So you mean to tell us that your friend convinced you to get divorced and have twins? Plenty of time for Limbo on the go with all that "money". Please refrain your poor scams that may have worked when the internet was first introduced elsewhere.

I think "cross-buy" is a banned word in Microsoft's HQ . Way to go sony, I hope nintendo does this too with their titles (eg: Monster Hunter)

@EL_Bomberdor   yep.. .and i am glad that Sony is paying even more attention to indie devs for the PS4... better catalog of games at relatively cheaper prices..

Well I know 360 and XBL games are not compatible with the X1, but has Sony made any official announcement on PSN games being compatible on PS4?

@knyght1008 The last I heard was that current gen PSN games would not be compatible with the PS4, but they were looking into Gaikai for streaming older games.

all games should be cross-buy no matter the platform : xbox , PS4 or PC or tablet or phone or oculus rift.

people that buy the same game 3 times ( Xbox , PS4 and PC) are MORONS

PSYCHOV3N0M
PSYCHOV3N0M

@diabolik_023 Since NOT all games are cross-buy, then people don't have a choice but to buy the game multiple times IF they WANT it for other systems. It's THEIR CHOICE.

That does NOT make them morons.

Sony is doing it wrong. They're suppose to be nickel and dimming us for every penny we have. They need to take a page from the likes of EA and Microsoft on how it's done.
