Limbo nabs seven GDC Award noms

ME2 does NOT deserve GOTY, it has an EXTREMELY lame story the and combat is that great and there are better looking games out there, and Red Dead is just GTA with horses and a few tricks what a joke

This is why I hate awards, most of the time they go to the wrong things for the wrong reasons..... Mass Effect 2 deserves GOTY but New Vegas doesn't deserve best writing however it does deserve best sound.... RDR and COD don't deserve anything but the mentions they may have lead 2010 in sales but that hardly gives them the honor of GOTY or any of the other credits everyone gives them.

Limbo was good but not that good sorry. I might play Limbo a second time but with RDR and Mass Effect 2 I've played those more than twice happily doing so.

No Super Mario Galaxy 2 or Halo Reach for game of the year but Black Ops and Assassins Creed: Brotherhood is up there. I don't like these awards.

Anyone remember 'Another World' by Delphine on the old CBM AMIGA? Someone should remake that. Back on Track, Limbo is trully brilliant, and deserves all the praise it recieves.

sleepnsurf How do you know it won't sell on PS3? How do you know that on PC it is going to be pirated and no one will buy this? This assumption is based on...? Just take a look at the countless indi games on the PC (many more than on consoles) which sold like crazy. Sure, people will pirate games, but this happens on consoles too. Steam is a good example for a platform that allows indi developers to sell their games. And they sell extremal well.

A very good reminder of what games you need to play from 2010. I love how Gamedev Story made it on the list =)

Minecraft is not a game. At least yet. It should not be up for the awards.. for the moment.

@helborhamy I know what your saying is true, but somehow it felt very much like a rehashed version of the first game with a different story. Maybe the problam is with me, maybe im just a game critic i dunno, but i just didn't like ME3.

I haven't finished it yet but i'd say it's one of the best independent games i have played.

God!Let LIMBO remain an xbox 360 exclusive,or another fanboy WAR gonna Happen.. Now exclusives really matter for picking up a console and there is no need to port this game to PC and PS3 at all.. of course the devs have told it would remain xbox 360 exclusive and their next game would be multiplatform!

I think RDR deserves GOTY, it had great graphics, engaging and well written plot and had a one of a kind story.

I'd preffer Limbo on PS3 than Littlebigplanet..

Here again a 360 game pwns! Developers know that 360 is the way to go as there are more players and revenue on the 360 to be had. The game will be pirated on the pc and not enough players will buy it on the PS3.

Nice choices overall although like usual, it feels like they discard the majority of the industry titles. What I am trying to say, is that there are no major surprises, like a game that I might have overlook and GDC heightens my awareness. And yes, congrats to Limbo. Also, I wish they had genre categories like fighting, racing, etc...

Gotta admit, For a man that isn't much for the xbox this game did get my interest a while back. Shame they chose Microsoft - it's now a 'family' console after all.

Sad that these are only console/multiplatform games. Wanted too see Amnesia at least somewhere here :( And it's can't agree with Limbo more. Finished that game yesterday. One helluva a great game and story (if you choose "the car theory" (check GS forum for Limbo))!!! P.S. And LOL at PS3-Gamer :D How can a person be so fanboyic? :D

Limbo is a Danish developed game, JUST SAYING!!! i'm a little more proud being a dane now, after IO Interactive's horrendous K&L games!

@funnysplay The first one had more RPG and more important choices to make, but the second one had more action, more intensity, better graphics, better gameplay, better music, and better cutscenes. So overall mass effect 2 is better but still both of them are two of my favorite games.

They need to release Limbo on PS3 and PC, but until then i'm more than happy with the LittleBigPlanet version.

I gonna get thumbs down for this, but i really didn't care for mass effect 2. The first one was better in my opinion.

What makes me sad...and this is kind of off topic...is I was linked to this story from the Latest PSN News section. I realize because some of the games are Playstation exclusive why it was there. But given the title was about Limbo, I was hoping the game was coming to PSN. I may break down and finally download it for my Xbox because I am tired of waiting!

I never played Limbo, and I really want to. But I hghly doubt it belongs in the GOTY category. Galaxy 2 should be on there, or God of War 3.

I like a few games on this impressive list, but LIMBO just really clicked with me on a lot of levels more than any other game or movie or song has in a long time. Maybe I'm just biased for LIMBO for personal reasons, but I do think it deserves the recognition it's getting and hope it wins.

hope they release limbo on pc and ps3. everyone needs to play it. definitely one of the best games i've played this gen.

With all the praise it gets, it saddens me that Limbo is only on 360. Not trying to bash the 360, but more people deserve to play this game!

It's hard to take these awards seriously when Call of Duty Black Ops is nominated for some heavy awards. :roll:

I get that limbo has a great atmosphere. But I think it's ovverated. I played braid and it was one of the best games I've ever played.I didn't have very fun with it's puzzles. Thats just my experience though.

Good to see Super Meat Boy getting some love.

I could see how Limbo would win best visual art or best audio, but the game wasn't exactly innovative. The puzzles weren't hugely different than anything you might see and the platforming wasn't revolutionary. All the factors just came together to make an amazing package.
