Square Enix's role-playing game pushed to February 2014 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been delayed. Square Enix today announced that the role-playing game will launch in North America on February 11, 2014, followed by a launch on February 14 in Europe.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is the final entry in the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy. It takes place within the world of Novus Partus, which contains four islands. The game chronicles the last 13 days of the game's universe.
Gamers will control Lightning, as she seeks a way to save the world from extinction. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII retains the Paradigm Shift combat system, except now players can move Lightning around the battlefield and swap weapons instantaneously.

Yes! Lightning has to return! RETURN TO THE VOID FROM WHICH THY CAME!!!
Honestly, FF13-2 was the first FF ever I simply couldn't stand finishing. So far this is looking a bit better but I'm not holding ANY expectations.
"If you wanna be a hero, you need to have dreams" - Angeal Same could be said to Square Enix ; give me dreams, NOT nightmares & you'll be a hero once again.
I can be myself when I am with you. Your idea of romance is dim lights, soft music, and just the two of us. Because you make me feel like I have never felt before. I can tell you anything, and you won't be shocked. Your undying faith is what keeps the flame of our love alive. You and me together, we can make magic. We're a perfect match. Thinking of you, fills me with a wonderful feeling. Your love gives me the feeling, that the best is still ahead. You never give up on me, and that's what keeps me going. You are simply irresistible. I love you because you bring the best out of me. Your terrific sense of humor. Everytime I look at you, my heart misses a beat. You're the one who holds the key to my heart. You always say what I need to hear. You have taught me the true meaning of love. Love is, what you mean to me - and you mean everything. You are my theme for a dream. I have had the time of my life and I owe it all to you. And, of course, your intelligence, 'cause you were smart enough to fall in love with me. ;-)
Had this come out in Autumn I'd have considered buying it if it did well in reviews. By February 2014 it will be PS4 all the way and I won't give this a second glance..
Bad move by Square. Unless this also sees a PS4/Xbox One release (which could explain the delay) I think their sales are going to really suffer.
"No rationale for the delay was provided." - I'm pretty sure we can come up with 100's of them that really all end in WTF FF? Why should we care anymore.
Here is a comparison Square - Daft Punk released a new album and basically said the modern electronic music hit a wall, so they looked into the past for inspiration and made something timeless and brilliant. So, how about you do the same, look into the past glorious era for FF and recreate or even remake FF6 - FF9.
FFXIII is pretty much like the Twatlight series. Can't wait for the final entry of the series to come out, so it can die off and erase itself for all the unfortunate people (including myself) who fell victim to this game.
omgg!another ff game with lightning! i think lightning has revolutionized the franchise on her own, such a deep and complex character, and the other characters really help to make it such a vibrant, exciting journey in a original creative world. Good job square!
It baffles my mind how Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which was announced around the same time as Final Fantasy XIII, can still be in production 7 years after it was first announced without so much as a launch date and the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy will have it's third game by 2014. I mean seriously, is this the right move for this company? To center most of it's efforts into a second sequel when they have another IP in the Final Fantasy family which would just be an amazing game given what we know about it (and obviously give them huge profits) just collecting dust. And let's not also forget that until they finally finish that game we won't ever see Kingdom Hearts III come out since the team that's made Kingdom Hearts I and II is the same one that's making Versus XIII.
@silna33 square enix isn't listening to their hardcore fan base anymore, final fantasy XIII sold really well and they freaking milked it, i would have been fine to have ONE XIII then versus and possibly a remake like VII, VIII or IX which are amazing games
is it only me, but somehow the acting is really childish here.... it's like a bad soap opera serial thing mixed up bad.... and someone please hire a proper musician.... this would've been more dramatic by attaching pacman music to it....
why is this happening to Final Fantasy....
CURSED FINAL FANTASY MOVIE..AND CURSED ENIX FOR DESTROYING SQUARE>>..
well shit, son of a bitch. First they release news about how Deus Ex: The Fall is just a crappy IOS game, then Diablo 3 news, now GS releases news about FF being delayed. It's like Gamespot is trying to ruin my week. I hate you all.
Could care less, a game is a game. If you don't like it you don't need to announce it, just move on. Opinions like that only produce negativity on both sides. One for showing the dicks out there that do nothing but bitch about games that are different from their nostalgia, and the fans that whine and defend their game like its a dying puppy because the dicks are attacking it. Move the fuck on to something else.
Don't care what anyone says, liked the first one, loved the second one and can't wait for this one..Having said that,I DO want a traditional FF game to come out. final fantasy 9-2 maybe?
lol classic square. millions on engine development and games pushed back months or years.
the sequel no one wanted to the sequel no one wanted to the FF game no one wants to recognize... do we really need lightning to return? Remake Secret of Mana already!
boob armour, that serves no purpose other than to objectify, makes someone objectified, yeah. As well as her flowing robes, open up enough in places to shamefully reveal everything adds to this as well.
