Lego Marvel Super Heroes revealed

TT Games bringing action game based on superhero toy line to consoles, portables, and PC during fall 2013.

Marvel superheroes are coming together like never before. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced Lego Marvel Super Heroes, the first entry in the lucrative brick series to feature Marvel characters.

Developed by TT Games, in association with The Lego Group and Marvel Entertainment, Lego Marvel Super Heroes is due out during fall 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC, DS, 3DS, and PlayStation Vita.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes will complement Lego's existing real-world toy collection, which currently is made up of eight sets based on the X-Men, Iron Man, and Spider-Man franchises.

The game will offer an original story that has Nick Fury calling on Iron-Man, the Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, and Wolverine to save earth from threats at the hands of Loki and Galactus.

Like past entries in the Lego universe, players can expect Lego Marvel Super Heroes to contain the same "classic Lego video game adventure and humor."

More than 100 characters from across the Marvel Universe can be unlocked in Lego Marvel Super Heroes, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Deadpool, Loki, and Galactus.

What happened to Lego City after reading that preview last month!? Have they just kinda swept it under the rug again now to prioritize on another f***ing licensed game? So sad that they're chasing the Marvel money and haven't got anything interesting to talk about with Lego City instead, TT, EA & Activision should just join forces, so they can all just keep on making the same crap under one roof and save the offices spaces for people who will actually do something useful with them.

@wizzzer_thy_133 Iol, I like my nude, pixellated woman with slightly more polygons, but I'm sure in Japan there's something you could find to tie you over in the meantime while TT considers your request. lol

Also a Lego Resident Evil, theres quite a few characters that can be used in that game.  I'm just thinking of a Nemesis and an Ustanak as Lego characters.  Plus don't let Capcom have total reigns over it!

I want a M rated Lego game called Lego Maniacs.  The main playable characters are Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and Leatherface.  Also throw in Chucky, Leprechaun, the thing from Jeepers Creepers, etc.  Put a dream world, Camp Crystal Lake, Springwood, Myers hometown etc. as the levels.  Wow I know I'm not the only one that would love that just be sure to keep out of kids hands with the M Rating. I wanna see Lego guts on the ground that you can put back together into something crazy.

That's pretty sweet. I always liked the Lego concept, but none of the games really caught my attention. This one does.

Looking forward to Crysis 3, my friends. I've always been a massive fan of this game genre. And Dead Space. Two of my favourite titles to date.

@megakick Even though I hate Jersey shore and if there ever is a Jersey Shore game.....the gaming industry needs to die....but I can see it running off the same engine they use to make Sims

For me these Lego games are guaranteed good times in between the overhyped AAA releases. Definitely glad they're still cranking them out.

Let's see, non-movie LEGO sets... LEGO City, LEGO Knights (gonna have to go interdimensional or something there for originality, I'd suggest), LEGO board games of varying sorts, LEGO Martian murder (there's a double-cross I'd like to see 'cause the bad guy will go all RE and morph into a hybrid, heh heh)...

There's still The Hobbit trilogy to do and, God forbid, they'll have to enlist Spongebob, Avatar, and Toy Story due to a futile need to overspend on copyrights, lol, I think there's plenty to cover and supposedly there'll be more to come, both physically and digitally.

Just when I thought LEGO was FINALLY pulling itself out of the quagmire of always usuing franchise universes instead of it's own varied sets, it plunges straight back down again. For crying out loud, how many years will it be until we see another lego game that's JUST lego, without anyone else's crap?

00J
00J

@brok They did that years ago, do you think a plain vanilla lego building game would sell? I think it would not sell 1 copy...

The whole concept is that with lego you can build anything you can imagine anything so imagining DC Universe and Marvel Universe is right in line with what Lego Bricks are>Just like Hobbit and Star Wars.

You could make a Lego game out of anything.

brok
brok like.author.displayName 1 Like

@00J @brok  You're right. vanilla building games never sell. Just look at Minecraft...

I'm talking about things like Lego City Undercover. Wide open adventure games set in actual lego sets. Who needs Pirates of the Caribbean when there's an even more varied Lego Pirates universe to use? Imagine a sandbox set in Lego Space, a treasure quest in Lego Aquazone, an RPG in Lego Wild West, A survival horror in Dino attack... the possibilities are endless, without having to use some other film's universe.

@brok @00J I think you and me need to get together to brainstorm LittleBig-LEGO-Planet with Molecule, screw TT ;)

I was wondering when TT Games would release this.  The sets have been out about a year and I figured they would eventually release a game based on the Marvel license.

why....dont you make a lego game where you build things with blocks and build other things that allow you to do other things (ie: collect the right blocks to build a firetruck to put out a fire)

teach kids about civil engineering and solving problems, throw in some "minecrafting" open world element where you can, oh i dont know, build things with legos?

im all for cheap, non-replayable, movie tie in, money milking, crappy knock off games but seriously....I used to love legos and died with happiness with minecraft because of the nostalgia i felt from legos and THIS is what they do with the franchise?

sure, you get the moms of 5-10 year olds everywhere to buy in...but essentially... it has absolutely, positively, nothing to do with legos, other then the deformed figures that represent human figures in movies.

Bring building and lego-like fun to a lego game.....Let me build a lego space shuttle to help build a lego space station so I can research lego physics  or something. Gaahhhll.

-end rant-

Before I die, I would like to see an actual Marvel vs. DC game, in the style of X-Men Legends or Ultimate Alliance.

Every Marvel and/or DC game up to that point will only be temporary distractions. That game needs to happen.

brokencreedman
brokencreedman

@Dudeinator *chuckles* so basically it's a game where Marvel slaughters DC?  Lol.  DC has crap heroes (yes I'm a Marvel fan boy) but still...it would be an interesting game.  Maybe Marvel vs. DC (like MK vs. DC) and we can have Wolverine do fatalities on Superman? :)

Not against this, I expected it, (being sold to Disney) however I am still waiting for an actual good Marvel game on the new gen consoles, which are of a more serious genre, e.g. a game such as Arkham City.

@hehe101 I feel like the best hope for this so far is the upcoming Deadpool game, which will be far from a kid's game.

And there's always Marvel Heroes Online for MMO fans...hopefully it's good :) it looks good so far.
