Lego Harry Potter ships 2.7M, Lego Batman hits 7M
Warner Bros. sees multiplatinum performance from TT Games-developed action adventures as Time Warner entertainment group grows revenues 8%.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment struck a deal with Lego Systems in March to continue making games based on the Danish building block franchise through 2016. One look at Warner Bros. parent company Time Warner's most recent earnings report and the deal continues to appear to be a fruitful one.
Reporting on its second quarter financial performance today, Time Warner said that Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 has now shipped more than 2.7 million units worldwide. Developed by TT Games--which Warner Bros. bought in 2007--received a solid critical reception following its June 29 release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, DS, and PC.
Lego Harry Potter's success follows on from a continued strong performance by Lego Batman. Though it scored substantially lower with critics than Harry Potter, it has gone on to sell more than 7 million units since its 2008 bow, the company said.
The performance of the Lego games contributed to substantial growth for Time Warner's Filmed Entertainment division, of which the game group is a part. Revenues during the April-June quarter grew 8 percent to $2.5 billion, a performance that was led by Clash of the Titans and Sex and the City 2. Operating income for the business unit declined 2 percent to $173 million.
As for what's next from TT Games and the Lego universe, the studio is expected to release Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars next year.
Lego of Duty Lego of war anything to keep lil kids off call of duty and gears lol
lego planet of the apes. maybe
Batman deserved it, and like some of you said, Lego Lord of The Rings and Lego Pirates of the carribean would be nice.
Holy crap I didn't know Lego games were that popular lmao.
I want a Lego Halo or something!
batman's awesomer
lego predator please :P
hmmm the clone wars is either going to be really goog or really bad.

do a damn lego pirates of the carribean...whats taking so long??????
I said they needed to do a Lego LOTR when the first Lego game came on on Xbox 1, Come on Lego Gandalf, we need you. lol
Lego LOTR already!!! :D
I enjoy the Lego games. They make for a nice change in pace from my normal routine. They also make great games to play with local co-op. So bring on the sequels, as they will be no doubt enjoyable time sinks. :D
@SolidTy - I'd like to see Lego : Micro Machines. Loved those games on the 16 bit systems and would love to see a modern version.... Lego God of War would also be hilarious. Gory, blocky, plasticky - it would have it all lol :D
they need to make a lego halloween, you'd be ****ing bricks lol
@ Steyrvolt: Haha Lego Jurassic Park sounds pretty cool! I haven't played the Harry Potter title yet, it just doesn't appeal to me but maybe in the future I'll give it a go. 7M units sold on Lego Batman is very impressive so bravo to Traveller's Tales on that one!
Coolyfett has yet to actually play one of these lego titles. It is a fair creation or franchise to say the least. Take a popular franchise and legofy it and you may have a winner? Where is Lego Back to the Future? or Lego Spider Man?
lego games are real fun with no blood and fun to play as a party game.....nice change from all the usual blood and gore and swearing.......
I was hoping they would make Lego James Bond
because warner bro's have the contract, they should do lego justice league... using different heroes/villians abilities to solve puzzles... fly as superman... experiment with green lanterns ring... speed through as the flash... etc, free roam through a lego city as your fav villian or hero....
They do good work
The lego games have been truly addictive and I've enjoyed everyone of them ...... more please!!!
Lego Batman sold more then Batman: Arkham Asylum.... Surprising? No. A terrible, horrifying thing to take in? Yes.
I found Lego to be unreliable. I liked K'nex better because it was more durable going down the stairs.
Lego Harry Potter is good now, because it took almost a month for them to release a damn patch for the game. I have never played a game with so many bugs.
I love the lego series! I did not really like the Lego Batman game but i played the Demo of Lego Harry Potter and i love it!!!
@PooManChu69 Well, this is just what I've heard. I'll give it a rent, thanks for your opinion. :)
Not a fan of the Lego games, but I cashed in my free game certificate I got for signing up with OnLive on the Lego Potter one. And I am actually having fun with it. It is the best one they have made yet, though still repetitive.
I would love a Lego Batman 2....
Lego Batman was really fun. I played the demo for Lego Harry Potter and I liked it alot too.
I played Lego Batman which came with the PS2 9000 series Slimline. I finished it in one sitting. So I wouldn't mind another Lego Batman game. 7 million not a bad number for a lego game. So maybe a sequel? Lego Star wars and Lego Indiana jones have sequels. So lego Batman 2?
@CaptainAhab13 I thought Lego Batman was much better than Lego Indiana Jones. Don't get me wrong-I did like both, but I found it was way more fun playing the extra characters in Batman than in Indiana Jones. (and you get to play the bad guys too) @Colin1192 -- sales are also probably up because the price dropped to $20.
I had absolutely no idea they were selling this well. They're selling mostly because they're one of the few franchises that has successfully marketed towards the 10 and under crowd.
I just can't even imagen one of these Lego games. I loved to play with Lego when I was a kid, but now.. just no.. Still, good going creators, cheers. :)
Dude, these Lego games are awesome. Lego Star Wars, Lego Star Wars II, Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Indiana Jones II, Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 -- baby, I've played them all. Except for Lego Batman, which I heard was eh. GO LEGO GAMES!
Legos are cool
Wow never would of thought I would see these sort of numbers for.....lego games.
Lego Batman sales are inflated due to it being bundled in the 360 holiday bundle this past holiday season
I remember being so excited about LEGO based games (prior to playing one) because I figured they'd include actually building things with lego. When I realized the "lego" aspect was in looks only (ie you don't actually get to build/create things with the lego) I was quite dissapointed. Still, I can understand how they appeal to younger gamers who don't care how shallow and generic they are.
I don't normally play games like these but I really enjoyed Lego Batman. I liked the games humor and progression through the game was well thought out, I even enjoyed the vehicle levels.....
well i bought this game. I play it with my wife and my 6 year old son. i find lego games to be fun for what they are.
I'm also hoping for some LEGO Jurassic Park/Star Trek/LotR. :) Heck, I'd even buy LEGO Saw (as in the torture porn franchise.) I bought, and enjoyed, LEGO HP, but if they do a years 5-7, it probably won't be as fun. 1-4 was a bit short as it was, and 4 seemed to have less to do than the other years. They'd have to be insanely creative to make just 5-7 as good.
Lego Gears of War....yeah.
How much do you guys wanna bet that the next LEGO game after "LEGO Star Wars 3" is the next "LEGO Harry Potter"?
Lego Lord Of The Rings... yeah !!!!
sure their sales are high because they release the game for all the platform
For some reason people like LEGO games..hell I think I want one now too lol
Im one of the 2.7M who bought Lego Harry Potter. It was worth the money. Roght on TT Games
I hope they make a Lego Lord of the Rings.
YEAH. Denmark rules! Lego over the world! :)
