So many reasons to not support Sony. By the summer with all the negatives they have mentioned related to the machine already and more to come nobody will want the PS4. Seriously STFU Sony.
Latest PlayStation 4 rumour details dev kit specs and controller - Report

New information shows eight-core CPU and R10XX GPU in latest PS4 dev kits; controller will feature a rear touchpad and a Share button.
The recent rush of next-gen details continues, with new information about the latest PlayStation 4 dev kit--allegedly known as DVKT-KS000K--surfacing on Kotaku and obtained from leaker SuperDae. The rumours claim to further last week's speculation of a touch screen in the PS4 controller.
The latest dev kit spec sheet alleges that the touch screen rumour posted last week is actually about re-creating the PS Vita's rear touchpad on the back of PS4 controller as opposed to its front touch screen.
There was no mention of the previously rumoured biometric support in the controller, but the rear touchpad will also be able to be clicked in to take the role of an additional button.
The report also states that the PS4 controller will also feature a new "Share" button, which implies some sort of interactivity with social networking, and that an improved version of the Sixaxis-style motion control will be present.
Additionally, the report claims Sony is looking to expand on the single-user login system used by most consoles and implement a concept "multi-user simultaneous logins," done by linking controllers with local user accounts stored on the console. How these plans might be incorporated with PlayStation Network was not detailed.
Despite the new controller, the DualShock 3 and Sixaxis controllers are still supported by current dev kits.
As for the PS4 dev kits themselves, the report claims that as of January 2013, the systems feature 8GB of system memory, 2.2GB of video memory, an AMD Bulldozer eight-core processor, and an AMD R10XX GPU.
There's also a Blu-ray drive, four USB 3.0 ports, two Ethernet ports, and a 160GB hard drive. It is likely the hard drive and duo of Ethernet ports are for the benefit of developers rather than consumers. A retail PS4 would likely be very different in these areas.
Some of the specs match with another recent PS4 report by Digital Foundry, such as the eight-core CPU, but others are different. Interestingly, a similar CPU was detailed in the most recent Xbox 720 information. If the next PlayStation and Xbox both featured such internal architecture in their retail models, however, there would be far fewer differences between them than in their current-gen equivalents, and both machines would be much closer to a PC-style development environment than in any previous generation of console hardware.
A Sony representative said it was not making any formal announcements and that it does not comment on rumour and speculation.
Earlier this week, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai hinted to British newspaper The Times that Sony would likely release the PS4 after Microsoft releases its own next-gen console.

The rear touchpad on the ps vita is really pointless and gimmicky. I don't see why they would extend that detail onto the ps4, no one is raving about how revolutionary it is (which it isn't). The share button also seems really unnecessary -- I wont be looking forward to that if it happens to be true.
AMD Bulldozer why not use Piledriver unless the PS4's using a fixed version of the BD then OMG there in for some problems possibly in fact I thought they would of continued to use an improved CELL Chip
Hmmm if the specs are the same then we probably won't see as many folk buying both systems anymore.

So lets wait and see when their is announcement in the nex few months from the giants.
Why don't we wait for a real announcement on these next gen rumore on both systems and I think their is that other rumor where this might be the last upgrade becuase they might allow you upgrade the console your self and remember hearing that some where around the web and I do not know if those are accurate at all either.
All three consoles are now offering things that I want (which is GREAT). None of them are quite a quantum leap from eachother and they're all hovering around the same kind of GPU specs, so regardless who your favorite company is, we're all getting something good!
I think this will be one of the best ever generations for console gaming in a long time if developers can stop going bankrupt all over the place.
@Micropixel You mean more developers are going bankrupt because they can't afford the higher development cost and people only buy heavy PR/Advertised games like CoD and Halo?

5 Like When I first heard the rumours about the controller having a front facing touchscreen, I was a bit worried about it but having a touchpad on the rear sounds like a useful feature and the user wouldn't have to take their eyes off of the TV screen to use it.
2 Like Seems to me like MS and Sony called each other up to make systems with similar specs so that developers could fully utilize the hardware on both consoles instead of catering to the lowest common denominator on both consoles....

I think its because they both went with AMD, its gonna be interesting to see how do they split up.
1) I'm trying to compute why it needs two Ethernet ports. One is Mbit/s and another is Gbit/s? I can't think of another reason why you would need two. 2) Four USB 3.0 tells me that it will be a "phat" version and later down the road a slim version will come. USB 3.0 is really fast, there's no need to have more than two on a console. 3) That fact that the rumour says it houses a 160 GB hard drive shows that it is made specifically for developers, not consumers. Sony just released a 500 GB version of the PS3, so I highly doubt anything less than 500 should be on the new system. A 1TB hard drive or 160 SSD (preferably something 2012 version, and not the earlier ones) would be nice.
@alchie11 It's a dev system, they need more connections than the consumer version, that's the only reason. Hence why it has so much RAM and 4 USB ports. Better believe that the consumer system will ship with half of what the dev system has on most components, RAM might be in the air at this point could come with 4-6GB of RAM, again it's all about keeping the system affordable. Dev wouldn't need a huge hardrive for developing games so don't freak out over the paltry size of the dev kits HDD.

Don't clog my controller up with a "share button" ... Next they'll all have bloody adverts popping up on a front touchscreen while you're playing... About to win and "GOOOO COMPAARE!!!"
I don't get why sony would just abandon their cell processors and use AMD ones after all their pushing of it into developers and so many developers especially their SCE ones making the most of the CPU's now.
2 Like @Johny_47 Its because programming with the cell structure is much more difficult and although many developers have get a hand of it now it is still much easier to have a AMD or Intel structure because of the fact that many games will be made for ps4 and the new xbox and maybe pc, so they dont want to lose everytime when it comes to the graphics quality like they are losing now

All of you guys are wrong. Cell was a joint development between Sony and IBM. IBM, being the main talent contributor, abandoned all Cell development in 2009. And NO, it's not because Sony lost the 'architecture war' to MS or anything like that. The silicon industry is highly competitive. The Cell is a direct competitor to Intel and AMD's CPUs, and having a completely unconventional architecture, and not having matured yet, it may have just appeared as being financially unfeasible for IBM to continue developing it. Intel made huge progress over the last few years with their i7s. IBM probably just felt that given the money they had to pour into Cell development, and how well the i7s were performing, it was better to refocus their attention on other things.

You do realize that the Cell processor isn't just limited to the version used on the ps3 right? Besides, your Dark Souls comparison is quite moot. Did it ever occur to you that maybe the guys at From Software were inept at programming for the Cell? Not to mention that the Cell is better at floating point calculations, unlike Intel and AMD processors which are usually not. Maybe From stacked up their code in a way which didn't favor floating point calculations. But anyway, technicalities aside, IBM probably felt that given their investment into Cell, the Cell wasn't shaping up to be nearly as powerful relative to Intel and AMD processors as they initially hoped. We do not know what IBM's expectations were. Maybe they entered Cell development thinking that it would utterly trash Intel and AMD. And if so, merely being on par with the competition would be considered as severely falling short of expectations. But it's not fair to merely compare specs. Nobody has used enough of Cell architecture to really know. The one used in the ps3 was probably just one of many. And don't forget that IBM is into other forms of businesses as well. CPU development may or may not be what they really want to focus their resources on, whereas for Intel and AMD, it's their lifeblood. They have nothing else.

Only on paper. Athlon X4 620 2.6ghz can deliver 30 fps minimum in Dark Souls in Blightown at 2560x1600. Cell chokes on PS3 at just 1024x720 dropping to 15-20 fps. In the real world, the Cell was a joke. It was slow, power hungy, inefficient and expensive. In every way imaginable for actual games or performance/watt, an AMD/Intel mid-range CPU would level it. The reason IBM stopped pouring $ into Cell 2.0 is because Cell 1.0 never lived up to its performance claims. The actual main core in the Cell is just a slow in-order PowerPC core with Instructions per Clock worse than that of Pentium 4 3.2ghz. The additional 6 working SPE engines were necessary to get the Cell to even perform remotely close to reasonable and as developers found out, that was easier said than done.
Even in the optimal operating state, the Cell's full power was nowhere near as fast as a budget $50-60 AMD quad-core processor 3 generations old from today's architectures. Something like an 8-core Bulldozer or even 8-core Jaguar would be much faster than Cell 2.0 anyway and frankly Sony doesn't need to spend $3-4 billion on R&D trying to develop a good processor when chances are they won't beat AMD's CPUs anyway! Bonus = x86 means that PC ports would be easier to do, developers need to spend less time optimizing for modern x86 CPUs.
@jhcho2 @Red_Ebisu @Johny_47 @ClaudiusCaesar It was also because of costs. The output/results they were getting were not on par with the costs that went into the R&D. It wasn't so much because of competition. Competition is always good, because it gives consumers the option and innovation keeps happening. If there is no competition, there is little innovation and companies (like Intel) can release the same processor with very little modifications (which is cheaper than innovating something new) at the exact same price. At the end of the day, it was mainly due to costs and results. I personally think the Cell processor may be ahead of its time, because it's changing the entire dynamics of how a typical processor from Intel or AMD works. IBM are still involved in the R&D of the processor, but not one of the "family." Sony abandoning it means they will no longer fund it, but if IBM shows results that have a significant boost in performance, Sony may use the Cell processor again. Using AMD instead just shows you that AMD is cheaper.
@Johny_47 I guess, they lost the architecture war with MS. All third party devs are developing to the 360 then porting to the PS3 with lost in quality.
Looks like Sony learn from the big fail from the unique PS3 architectural. It was more powerful than the Xbox 360 but, because was hard to developed, devs build for the 360 than port a inferior version to the PS3. I happy with that. Also, probably, the devs asked both MS and Sony to keep as close to the PC as possible, so, the devs will not expend so much on porting and focus on the higher cost to make games to the next gen.
The big difference will be who delivery better exclusives and services. PS in already ahead.

For most yes. There are some as Rayman Origins that only give the main profile achievements.

If those are the real specs than the console is gonna cost a lot, the rumor about $350 seems very unlikely.
