Team ICO head Fumito Ueda says the studio behind Shadow of the Colossus "should" have something to show at next month's Tokyo Game Show.
One of the more notable absences from June's Electronic Entertainment Expo was The Last Guardian, the upcoming game from Shadow of the Colossus studio Team ICO. The PlayStation 3 exclusive, which centers on the friendship between a young boy and a towering beast, was officially revealed via a trailer at Sony's E3 2009 press briefing.
Some footage of the title's environments was shown off at last year's Tokyo Game Show, an event that will likely be repeated next month. Via a post on his recently opened Twitter account, Team ICO head Fumito Ueda said, "We should be able to show something at Tokyo Game Show," according to a translation by Japanese gaming blog Andria Sang.
TGS is held in the massive Makuhari Messe convention center and runs from September 16 to 19. However, Sony hasn't tipped its hand about its plan for the expo. "We haven't announced any specific plans or titles that will be shown at TGS 2010," a US Sony rep told GameSpot.
The Last Guardian has been a long time coming, as it was first hinted at in late 2005. It was initially expected at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show, and a rough version of the reveal trailer surfaced in May 2009. However, besides a few screenshots, details on The Last Guardian's gameplay mechanics and story remain shrouded in mystery.
Liked Shadow of the Collosus. Is this the only game to persuade me to finally add a PS3 to my console collection...
i was pissed to not see anything regarding The Last Guardian at e3...but it makes a lot more sense for ueda to make its release at TGS instead. simply cannot wait for this game...for sure GOTY
An interesting game and hope, as it nears completion, that its ratings prove it to be a very good game. Looking forward to more on this game.
Shadow of the collosus was such a breath taking experience. i LOVED every single second with tht game. The visuals were soooooo good and it was on the PS2! Team ICO never ceases to amaze me, cannot wait to get this game in my hands and experience yet another remarkable, unforgettable, and immeasurably rewarding experience from them.
It would also be nice if they confirmed a Blu ray release of Shadow of the Colossus and Ico and make that rumor from earlier this year come true.
Their 3rd game in how many years? Quality over quantity anyone? This game will be worth a 100 first person shooters.
I'll be getting Last Guardian for sure, glad to finally know it'lll be at TGS since I was really hoping to see it at E3. I hope they also show something of the Ico & Shadow of the Colossus collection for the PS3.
@webbdmx Did you just put Halo: Reach and Gears of War into the same ballpark as a Team ICO release?
I hope for a collector's edition with ico and SOTC HD collection included, and soundtracks for each game
Last Guardian looks awesome! Too bad only two of you will probably buy the game, just like ICO and SotC.
It's great to see we'll be hearing something about Last Guardian. It's absence at E3 was disappointing enough for me.
I'm excited for any new information on this title, so hopefully it comes, I'd even be happy for a ten second gameplay video.
It could be the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD remake collection and not The Last Guardian. I do hope it is TLG though.
@ webbdmx: Really? Is that why Team Ico projects are hailed as some of the greatest and most artistic games of all time? Someone sounds super jealous. I'm sorry that one of the only things you can look forward to in the next few months/years are going to be half-assed sequels and Kinect games, I really am. MS didn't show anything new or exciting at E3.. there's nothing coming out for 360 that's remotely interesting (I hate Halo.) Pull your head out of the sand and accept the fact that Sony is taking over, and the only reason your precious MS was in the lead in the first place is because they launched too early with faulty hardware.
Team Ico is definitely one of the best developers in the industry. And This game is one of my most excited. I was disappointed to not see it at E3 but, I am glad we will see it at TGS. This is a definite day one purchase for me.
There is team ico collection and here the link. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/111/1111137p1.html
