L.A. Noire is UK's fastest-selling new IP
UK chart: L.A. Noire makes number one in its first week, is the fastest selling new intellectual property in UK gaming.
L.A. Noire added commercial success to critical acclaim in this week's sales chart. Rockstar's 1940s sleuth sim went straight to number one, becoming the UK's fastest selling new intellectual gaming property to date. Sales were roughly equivalent to those of Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, released this time last year (Red Dead Redemption was a sequel rather than a new IP, though it hugely overshadowed its predecessor, Red Dead Revolver). Of those L.A. Noire sales, 58 percent were of the Xbox 360 version.
Brink, last week's number one, falls to number three in its second week, with a 48 percent decrease in sales. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean holds steady (as she goes) at number two, with only a 6 percent drop in sales since its debut last week. The Witcher 2 enters the chart at number five: a respectable debut spot, with initial sales numbers as tracked by the UK chart three times those for the original Witcher game--though, as always, digital sales aren't factored into the UK chart.
Nintendo 3DS fighting game Dead or Alive: Dimensions lands at second place in the 3DS-only sales chart in its first week, behind Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, though sales weren't enough to earn it a place in the all-format chart.
